Most likely at the favoured 6:30pm tech slot
Times and dates are confirmed now. The show starts at 8:00pm on Monday the 5th of September right through to the 24th of October.
My Show is the 24th of October.
Mike.
Ours is 3rd September... Just had the confirmation letter through!
3rd Sept? sure?
starts on the 5th I thought...
Hmmm 5th to 24th and Mikes is on the 24th therefore the last. Expect season end cliffhanger? Or all to meet their demise in classic Blakes 7 style?
8pm is a strange time though even for BBC2
I do not know which show Kane is in:), but the letter we recieved says the 3rd of October.
Outrageous! I cant believe you lot found out before I did! Pfah! :-)
Im glad its finally being shown, so we can appreciate the effort you all put in and the often ridiculous lengths to which you went.
The later-in-the-year and 8 oclock slot are being seen as a step up from the originally-intended summer 7:30 transmission. Dont expect to see any trailers, however - the BBC strictly limit the number of shows they promote, and I dont believe Mechannibals will be one of them.
The only one Ive seen is the shed smashing show with the Smiths in Bognor, which will be the first to go out. Its terrific - funny, really quite tense in places, and youd never know how miserably wet it was on the last day. There are things Id have done differently, but thats always the case - its an entertaining show, and I look forward to seeing the rest.
(For those who were too sensible to get involved and, hence, dont know me - I was on the production team, trying to bridge the gap between the engineers and the arty TV types.)
Too sensible to get involved eh? You have no idea how sensible I had to be to stop this lot volunteering me otherwise the episode would have been a real tearjerker
Jonathan, welcome to the bad boys den. Forgive the various female idiots here
Mike.
....and I thought that I was the only one here sweetie
Just you and Mike... :-)
Congratulations to Mike for spotting the typo, and Iain for getting the correct date.. it is indeed October 3rd.
Who got a tool box?
No idea about the tool box but as far as various female idiots are concerned there aint none more various than our Mike :)
We got a tool box!
all tv guides showing the monday 5th sept 8pm BBC2 as map man
im hoping its just a week late, but it doesnt look good
James
Yeah, I noticed that tonight too. Looks like Map Mans usurped our slot. Id slag them off but one of the directors was a chum of mine.
Tomorrow Ill see if I can find anything out from IWC; will report back if I learn owt.
Just heard back from the production manager: shes been away on holiday and the first shed heard of the gazumping was this morning. Ill pass on anything I can.
(grumble mutter BBC mutter)
has anyone heard when it will be shown yet??????
New dates and times. Sept 25th, Sunday, BBC2 @ 8:30PM. Thats the first show.
Mike.
PS, I beat Jonathan to it. lol. Oh the grape vine, how it works!
Just after the God slot and just before the natural history slot. Any thoughts people? :)
It could be a good time-slot, but what does it clash with on the other channels (Heartbeat on ITV I think).
Monarch of the Glen on BBC1 - who cares
Bremner Bird & Fortune on C4 - unmissable
NFL on Sky Sports Xtra
Whats New Scooby Doo on Cartoon Network
Good job my Sky+ allows me to record 2 progs while I watch the NFL game :proud:
Oh, the irony. I found out from a friend who posted a comment on my blog; he linked to his source, which was... um... this page. So its all news to me - but theres blurb in the Radio Times listings online and everything, so Mikes information seems solid.
Looks like were taking over the Horizon slot on BBC2, with a lead-in from Best of Top Gear. Its an odd slot - quite late for a family show, no? - but rather a good one. Ill phone around the production team this weekend and find out what their reactions are.
8:30 on a sunday...
...It clashes with the new episodes of Mythbusters on discovery...
...But thank god for discovery plus 1 and sky plus :proud:.
Ok date and time confirmed but how many weeks is it on?
Well, I dont know about you lot, but I remember making eight shows. With any luck the BBC will run them weekly, but one never likes to count on such things.
Not that Ive seen more than the first one, but its worth watching all the way to the last episode. There are some really lovely chaps in that show. :-)
And dont they know it too! Fer Gods sake Jonathan - dont give that lot (especially he whos name NEVER crops up in polite conversation) ideas otherwise well never EVER hear the last of it :)
Luv from, the female idiot who managed to get off very lightly by screaming down the phone to various people the words WHAT PART OF THE WORD NO DONT YOU UNDERSTAND?! :proud:
8 it is.....OK (snigger!)
......a stream of dramatic shouting matches.
Hmmmmmmm - are they sure it should be shown before the 9pm watershed?
Kane maybe, but Simon???????
:-)
lovely chap? never been called that before but my good old Mum used to say whos a lovely boy then? just before she kissed my bum after lightly dusting it with nice smelly talc. Now, before you lot join in, I was only a mere babe in arms then. Mind you, that could have been last week!
Mike
[EDITED by the babe in arms]
PS, I spoke to Simon Smiff last night. I asked about the slanging match. If what he tells me is true, and Simon doesnt lie then all I can say is that the Beeb will be showing their first silent movie for meny a decade. I wonder who is the pianist?
To the babe in arms:
That wasnt you she was talking to, it was her parrot.
As for the sight of your Mum kissing your bum, your poor old mum just needs new glasses..... and a bigger table.
Babe in arms last week? Seeing as most babes are born bald it comes as no suprise whatsoever that she was mistaken.
Lightly dusting your bum with talc? It would HAVE to have been lightly because there aint no cannister of talc big enough to cover an area the size of Derbyshire.
etc etc etc
Quote from the guide this morning -
Mechannibals
New construction challenge. Families compete to build machines - using only the items in their own homes. First up, a contraption to demolish a garden shed
WATCH THIS
mechanibals - 8:30pm, BBC2
Robot Wars comes home in this new, louise Brady-hosted smashnbash show which will see families go head-to-head in a series of gloriously dappy technological challenges, utilising only the contents of their houses. First up, the Hockeys and the Smiths are charged with assembling machines in order to destroy an unsuspecting shed. Stupid? Yup. Ecologically sound? Barely. A good laugh? Definitely.
Sounds like a good un, at least the reviewers are already liking the idea
Excellent... cant wait :)
Theres apparently also a review in Time Out, which brands us duplicitous or deceitful or similar. Which is probably fair enough, to be honest, particularly since they also suggest that its well worth watching anyway.
Fingers crossed for the viewing figures, then.
i may have not read properley but whos on tonight?? :D
If I was you I wont read the sunday mails tv guide, because Mechanibals is under the dont watch section...
...But then again, the person who does the sunday mails tv guide recommandions does hate anything that is creative.
i think it is ment to be the smith family ( team grim reaper)VS another family from bognor. we were unfortunate of of just missed out  for this series
