Guys, the event is going ahead, rather than taking the arena to the Europeans were bringing the Europeans to the arena here in the UK ! far easier.
Usual Roaming Robots Preston style event - so accomodation, travel - and a night out (any suggesetions, meal, bowling, lazerquest welcome). All the European teams are welcome to this one and well be covering their costs as we will be covering the UK teams.
As Craig has already done, even if youve emailed the GRA to say youre going, can you let us know either here or drop us a mail.
More info once Ive got Debenham out of the way this weekend, and lakeside this week.

Mr Stu
yep it as been nice and quiet with out you stu
Hi guys,
Finally home and awake from Debenem, and a week of madness at lakeside shopping centre, ( 21 school robots, shunt working as our house robot inside the arena, a Ripper and Behemoth show throughout¡K.. oh and a major bomb scare leading to a controlled explosion nearly blowing the front of alders shop window off ) eventful isn¡¦t the word Æ’º
I am pleased to finally confirm, that the GRA/Roaming Robots European Extravaganza Weekend will be taking place in Grantham, in the Midlands UK, on the dates above over the two days.
The venue is a 1000 seat leisure centre, and the style of the show will be as per Preston with the entertainments company heavily involved, providing a great show atmosphere.
We¡¦re looking at camping for the accomodation, considering it will be BBQ weather after all. More info later.
We plan for teams to arrive Saturday, running an evening show, which then takes us to the Saturday night social, Ten pin Bowling !!!! We will be organising an inter country ( friendly of course Æ’º ) bowling competition probably taking over the whole bowling centre, at which food should be provided for all.
Sunday, we plan on having two shows in the afternoon, allowing for hangovers to disappear, robots to be fixed, gossip to be discussed on the previous nights adventure.
Leading to a European Extravaganza Winner for 2004.
If tickets sell well then there may be more shows staged throughout, but this is the minimum so far.
Then on to Newark, where the Germans and Dutch have expressed an interest in staying on in the UK through the week and coming to Newark as well.
Anyone else expressing an interest in coming along let me know.

P.s I will be asking admin to clear up this thread due to earlier confusion if no body has a problem with this.
Gman will be there
Pussycat will be there.
Mr Stu
considering i seem to be able to attract trouble at these social thingys I should stay well clear.... on the other hand it does give me something to do whilst my robot quietly burns evry penny I have
so yeah Im definatly up for it
BBQ, Beer, Bowling, Beer and Battleing
Sounds like a winner to me, hopefully the beer will help my bowling, couldnt make it any worse
Good thinking about afternoon shows to get rid of the hangover
I am planning to go to both events anyway. Today i planned my days off from work for this.
Just a quick question:
Should my robot be in need of repairs between GRA and Newark, is there a roboteer willing to help me out in offering some workshop time so its ready to go without going back to Holland?
--
Leo
Where will you be based for that week?
Nowhere in particular, if my robot is ok id probably find a campsite near Newark. But since ill be driving myself i could go anywhere.
It might not even be an issue, just would like to know if it is possible to do some repairs somewhere should they be needed.

Inter-country bowling...hmmmmm....
Joining Revolution in supporting Scotland is.....
Hmmmmm....
Is the Beer going to be allocated per country as well ??? Gonna need a serious amount if I am representing Scotland alone.
Roger.
Inter county bowling, sounds fun. I had better go and get some practice in. How many other Welshies are going to be there to fly the flag?
Joe Townsend
Gents,
You can add Hard to the list as well...at least one Belgian team coming over..
Cheers,
Frank
Leo, I wouldnt worry too much there will always be someone who can help. Although we are around 2 hours drive away if you carnt find anywhere else we are happy to help. When we went down to Debenham we broke 2 drive shafts and Rex was kind enough to let us use his workshop to make 2 new ones. It took a couple of hours and we were ready to fight again (and go on to win). Without his help it certainly would have been difficult so again another thanks to Rex.
I live about an hour away from the GRA event, and about 30 minutes from Newark. I don€™t have a fully equipped workshop as we keep the robots in Birmingham, but it has the bare requirements.
Still awaiting confirmation, but hopefully, you should be able to move on from Grantham to Newark, on the Wednesday. Where we will be setting up for the weekend.
More info, as and when I get it.
Jonno
hehe, you going to enslave people who stay over in the UK to take down and put the arena back up for newark Jonno? hehe.
Mr Stu
should that fail i may be able to find somewherefor our european cousins to stay
Several other roboteers already offered Babs and me a place to stay.So I think we will spend a few says cruising trough the UK, at least to say Hi to some of the persons I didnt meet in person up to now-Like Simon Fargher.Or to get in touch with people missed for a serious time, Like Woody.
If I can find a way around those trice damned elections in Belgium on 13 june. This is mandatory, with heavy fines attached when you dont go.
Nice to see you back in the UK Mario. :)
Mr Stu
Just give me some time at the Town Hall to get the necessary paperwork for our absence during the elctions done (bugger! I do LIKE elections, going to the UK means we wont get to vote...) and all will be well. Too bad we cant bring the dog along, she did not get her shots on a regular basis throughout the past 9 years so will normally not be allowed to set paw on the British Isles. Ever. (Stupid, oudated, unscientific, old-fashioned, bureau(c)ratic quarantine rules... even when she did have her rabies shots every 3 years or so and never ever swear-to-God-honest-its-true came in contact with rabies-infected critters its still not safe enough... I hope next time at the vet to get some answers and maybe the paperwork - did I mention I love paperwork ?)
Sorry that we cant come more often, but my illness and some necessary work on the house (kitchen and bathroom !) are being a major drain on our finances for some time now.
All,
sorry to have to tell you that Hard wont make it for the GRA event. We will come over the next weekend.
Reason is that Jan cant make it...and of course we have the same mumbo jumbo (read paperwork) to go through as Babeth does...
So, well be there in Newark..and I presume most of you will be there as well.
Cheers,
Frank
Babeth & Mario,
I would very much like to offer you a room during your stay in the UK, and to any non UK visitors. Kim and I can offer two (2) rooms, one has a double bed and the other has two singles. I am able to offer full workshop facilities (including machining and MIG, TIG and Arc welding and quite an extensive stock of materials).
My home is about 75Km north of Grantham and 40Km north of the Newark showground.
Arthur Chilcott
FRA Chief Judge
Thankyou Aurthur for your kind offer,
Im sure that will be a great asset to the event if required.
We wouldnt want any robot not being able to take part throughout because of the lack of repair facilities.
Jonno
Is there still any spaces for Heavy Weights and are vertical spinners allowed to fight
HI Marlon,
Yes there are spaces still left, however currently, we only run discs in the feather weight class, and not heavyweights.
Your more than welcome to come along for the weekend, disc unplugged, for some driving fun, or, the cosford event are planning on running all kinds of discs.
jonno
is thor still on the list :)
Dont know about Jonnos list - But you are certainly on my list !!!, 3-3 coming very soon. Anti-Thor Device MkII baying at the gate.
Roger.
updated list as an when i find time dont worry :)
Remember UK teams are supposed to stick together for this one
Or are we spliting the UK ????
Jonno
What....? Oh, all right. grunt sigh. But this one (ATD2) looks so cool. huff. Cant I just fight him once. groan.... oh go on..
Well, as long as one of those pesky foreign type guys has a big axe thing.
ok, just the once.....
you can have your fun on the tour, i promise, its one of the staged fights we will be counting on.
