I would like to thank everyone who came and braved my BBQ at short notice. A lot of discussions about the current roboteering situation and some very inovative ideas of where it might go in the future took place.
The meeting was attended by representatives of teams, Tornado,Storm,Rampage,Savage Toatster and Trantrum.
A future event is in the planing stage for about 3 months time, the thought is to arrange a GO Karting competition at Redge Lodge near Near Newmarket followed by a BBQ or Pub Meal. Please post and email me if you are interested I will then sort a date when i have an idea of numbers. Roboteers from outside East anglia are welcome to come.

Ive had people asking me at this weekends XFM show whens the East Anglian Go Kart social is going to happen, So Im now asking people to express their interest with dates they are available from late may onwards over the next couple of months or so. Please forward me an email with GO Kart social in the subject with their available dates. When I can assess a date and numbers of people who want to come . I will be able to work out the costs of hiring the Go Karts. It will hopefully be on a Saturday and ending up with a BBQ or meal. Those who just want to watch the karting and go out please are also welcome please email me.
Roboteers from other regions are welcome to come along.
If this works we hope to arrange inter region socials with some Go Karting, partying and maybe host roboteers putting up the visitors to keep the costs down.

yep it is a great idea, after saturday nights antics im up for any go-karting socials. Since i was introduced to go-karting i cant stay away and so will jump to any oppotunity :) plus it will be great to race fellow roboteers

Hi I was sorry to miss the last social I was rather busy moving house & job. Im in Bury St Edmunds now. And my modem broke so I couldnt get on line so missed the posts.
Id deffinately want to attend will drop U a mail Ian. Bunch of roboteers on Go Karts sounds like a recipe for chaos :)

Would the kart track me able to equalize kart weight? being 30% heavier than most (twice their weight in some cases) I dont mind loosing, but a fair fight would be nice for once. Failing that does anyone have a truckload of slimfast?

Tim is welcome to fat up for the day to, should be fun, but unless someone wants to give me a turbo then fat-karts is my only hope.....
.... unless anyone wants to go car racing, they are allowing alcomers to test Formula Palmer Audis at Beford now, all you need is £800 and a national B race licence. Id happily forgo the weight equalization in that.
After reading how competitive you lot are I think Ive got an option with a twist for you.
The plan at Red Lodge Karting Centre min 8 drivers required.
A 50 lap race plus 4 laps of qualifying to choose grid positions.
Trophies for 1st 2nd and 3rd
Followed by a BBQ at the track watching others racing and if your still keen to have a grudge race you can use the arrive and drive and have another go yourselves. (We bring our own food and BBQs). I can bring my gas one if needed in a trailor. Those not wanting to race can sit and watch and enjoy the BBQ.
Cost £42 each for those Karting.
I propose a Sunday to arrive for the race late morning 11.00 am ish. As it takes about 2hrs from arrival (about 30 minutes on the track) to complete followed by the BBQ Lunch from 1pm onwards.
I now need availability dates and names of those who want to compete emailed to me as previously requested. If we get enough drivers I might give you other options.

Richard - It should be fine for a complete novice, although 50 laps is harder than it sounds and you may ache afterwards! Its great fun though, I certainly enjoy it, although Im not that good.
I suspect its going to be a competition for 3rd place, as I reckon Jamess racing skill will just be beaten into second by Tims karting experience and lighter weight! ;-)

Unfortunately the 29-5-05 is now off as the track is now fully booked for that date. The 26-6-05 may be a possibility as there is a provisional booking only I wont know until after the 12-06-05 to see if this is confirmed. Im still looking at this date but other avaiable dates are.
10-07-05 from 14:30 onwards
17-07-05 from 14:30 onwards
24-07-05 all day ( but european champs)
31-07-05 all day
note the BBQ could be before or after the race as the track shuts at 6pm.
To confirm a date with the track I need to put a deposit of two people down and pay the balance of the minimum of 8 people a week before. So those interested please check the new dates and email me back. Until I get a commitment from a minimum of 8 people theres no point booking the track.
As it looks that this possibly wont happen until July I suggest that as there is interest for the 29-05-05 we meet at a pub or have BBQ around someones.(any offers)

I cant make the 17/7 but all other dates are fine for me.
I cant do the 26th of June Ian- Im working. 10th, 17th and 24th of July are all OK. Cant do the 31st of July, cos Im working again.
All dates are good for me at the moment.
Just a bit of information - up to you guys really but just relaying some information to you, theres going to be a week long event Roaming Robots full scale event(s) from 13th July till 21st July at one of the UKs top attractions. More informaiton about this week long event next week. Just giving you information as i thought you might like to know.

but dosnt that confict with your riat on 16/17 & eurochamps which starts 21. the date which im hoping for is the 10-7-05 as some cant make the 17-7. Want to come your most welcome.
