rob, are you having a raffle? as roboteers can donate bits, that always helps getting money in.

Cheers. Anything appreciated, autographed t-shirts is what we were planning.
Rob
Did you advertise in one of the still adverts in a local cinema? That might be a good idea for future events...
Finished Final testing of the new feather last night and it still works! Can we add this to the feathers list?
Didnt quite realise how much shock you get to the internals. The speed controller is mounted on four rubber mounts and still a 18-pin chip flew out of its socket. Front panel flexed outwards and a wire dropped onto the disc. SMA areial socket came out, relay case came off, and worst of all the motors rotor was spinning but the shaft was not. All fixed now (hopefully)
Good news for other feathers. It was slightly over weight so we had to remove one disc.
Bring it on Mark, If you think yer ard enough!:proud:
(Knowing you Mark. the whole bloody thing is probably milled out of a solid block of Ti and actualy IS ard enough!! )
...and in other news Vortex will be there
Oh crap!!
Will bring plenty of spares then!
I will bring a whole lot of spares. Do you think I will have time to build a new bot after every battle.
Tickets selling like hot cakes now, strange how people leave things til last minute.
Looks like the feather competition will be very competitive. Im still hopeful of getting Blacknblues disk working (burnt the motor out)
Stupid exams, I want to go and play
Best Welsh Event.
Crowd was decent enough. Some great fights, Nice one guys, I enjoied it, even tho my flipper and pit broke down, so i couldnt play  LOL.
And we need to get a bottle of helium for every event now!!!!
Mr Stu
The Pit broke down - Would you believe it...
Well I never.
Roger.
Helium ???
maybe itll give the pit a raise?
it is Stu bloody jinx :)
Helium :) Works very well, Except for Jonno.
hey stu,
the pit wasnt broke, you had just flattened the batteries.
Bigger ones next time. :)
Jonno
The feedback from people who came to watch this event was 100% positive. We had 1,200 come to watch over three days. All the feedback forms handed in said they would love to go to another Roaming Robots Event in Denbigh, most also said they would attend a Featherweight bash here later in the year.
Many thanks to Jonno and his Roaming Robots team for their brilliant work in this event. The arena coped with over fifty battles over nine shows, hardly any delays for the audience.
We had nearly 40 robots in attendance, and many broken ones by the end. Thanks to all the teams for attending this 100% charity event. The event raised just over £5000 (profit) which will be shared between the school technology department and our local hospice.
At nearly £3000 the accomodation was by far the costliest part for me but I hope the accomodation was acceptable or at least as good as what you are used to at live events.
I plan to repeat this event next year, but only for two days in the same venue. I hope all the teams enjoyed the weekend and will want to come again.
Thanks to Tom Ross I have loads of pictures and videos of the fights including the epic 9-way heavyweight melee on Sunday. I will upload these to my site over the next week or so.
Excellent event, thank you to Rob & co for their hard work in making it happen. It was nice to get a rusty M2 out of the garage and fight it for the first time this year! Well done to young Scott and Ewe 2 on a brilliant performance - I will get my revenge but may have to build a new robot to do it :)
Paul
Anyone got a £1 for the electric? hehehehe:P. brilliant event i enjoyed it a loads :) thanks guys. i got to drive tornado loads wooo :D
luv triggy
Exellent event, I even got to take on Tornado and Behemoth with my Featherweight Dragon 2 and it came out in one piece thanks for being gentle on me guys.
Great event, really enjoyed the weekend.
Congratulations to the Mute boys, ive emailed you the vid of the final....you were so nearly in the pit.
Well get you next time:proud:
Ian & Scott
great event, shame about all the controversy at the end, but ah well.
Nice event for Alpha to retire on, winning its final event before the new one is built (if i get time to do it!).
Merlin blowing yet another set of batteries, doh! Although was interesting hacking apart the hawker.
Great fun at the fair! What was the red pedel for on the go-karts :proud:
Yes things were a little fraught after nearly 18 hours of competition!!
The misunderstanding was probably caused by our judge not correctly identifying various silver coloured featherweight robots competing in 6-way melees. Luckily Jonno had an unofficial but ultimately face-saving record of the correct results.
I think the organisation of the feathers competition could have been better. I was too busy with other tasks to get involved and didnt get told the competition was happening (it all looked a bit friendly to me with teams not wanting to go against Vortex etc) so I instructed our own judge to try and get the finalists otherwise wed have noone to present prizes to. In the end I was slightly disappointed to see some good feathers not able to compete in the final, one only half working and the ultimate winner apparently dead on the cease call :)
Nevertheless its shouldnt be taken seriously by anyone - its meant to be a bit of fun after all!
But maybe next time, a plan of action to how you wanted the event to end on would have been helpful. Not to dwel on it, as all was fine in the end just about, but Terri and i were given the task to organise fights for the last session, and we was trying to please some roboteers who needed to get HOME and some roboteers who had JUST taken part in the final fight in the last show and needed more time to charge batteries. Terri and I got a lot of slack for trying to please everyone and doing our best, so Terri deserves a well done at least.
Also some people (not even me) didnt know what was a friendly fight, or a REAL fight to win the trophy some bots did less fights than others but still got in the final and all sorts.
All is well now and finally went ok in the end. We all live and learn, but over all, the weekend is one to remember as a good event, and next year im sure will be even better.
Mr Stu
Yes Stu I think youre right, it needed a proper plan from me. Its all a steep learning curve!
Hi has enybody got eny pics of dragon 2 in the arena with Behemoth or Tornado
The winner loved their prize :)

They say in the ad they are selling as it is too small for them.
Someone buy it for £30 or something re aution it for another event for another kid to love it and frame it at least. Im sorry but if i was that age and won that T-Shirt, i would have it in a frame and full time guards around it and all sorts :P
Now a signed autograph from Ewe 2 just goes in a draw :)
Mr Stu
LOL.
I bought the T-shirts for about £4 on Ebay so how fitting that one should return to the auction so soon!
The nine autographed T Shirt raffles raised about £300!
Ive put all 400Mb of video from the Denbigh Event in my Kazaa shared folder. About twenty battles in mpeg format are in there. Excellent quality! Im not sure how easy it will be to find it, but Ive preceeded each title with Denbigh Robot so search for that (or a robots name). I dont want to see the video put on DVD to be sold at events or on ebay though.
The user name is bishop_brennan
It would be nice if other roboteers / event organisers shared video this way.
Hope it works for you.
Rob
Just about to search+download
Nice of you to go to the trouble+effort etc.
Hope this sets a trend.
Roger.
The the tons of video footage that people create from events like this, we should get a group of event organisers, and get them to agree for someone to put all this footage onto a DVD. Sell the DVD to Roboteers (or even public) and split the profit between the event Organisers to help further with their charities etc.
Not only does it rasie funs for the charites etc, but also makes a decent DVD for roboteers to keep a colletion of past events, instead of dips and dabs of movie files scattered all over their computers.
Mr Stu
i cant any robot vids on kazaa
can anyone?
No I cant find any
I have just done a search as well with no results. Of course it depends if Rob is on line at the time but I think he is on broadband so should be permantly on.
Just did it to see if it worked.
I took the vids so I have them anyway:)
Tom
PS Tony
None of the vids/pics I took have any featherweights in with heavys (must have missed that one while working on Chip) So cant help there sorry.
Tom
