I cast those wheels my self with a shore 30 rubber. On our dutch forum i did a small tutorial with lots of pictures.

Nice work on those wheels
Great job didn't realise you could buy the materials
This weekend we started working on our new Featherweight, Equinox. It will be a four wheel driven robot with a drum on its front. Its a bit inspired by Rango/Django.
Like Omega it will have a fully shockmounted brushless drive system. Omega is way overpowered so we chose the slightly smaller NTM4258-500KV this time.
The gearbox consists of two stages, a 3:1 with bevel gears and a 3:1 stage with a T5 belt.

The aluminium frame that you see on the last two pictures is purely as a mock-up/prototype.

looking insanely cool as always :)
very neat and clean build
very nice work once again
Here is a render of what we are building:

That drive gearbox is a very clever use of space, don't think I have ever seen that arrangement before. What will the final chassis be made from - Hardox?
Still, straigth up sides. With cool embossing. Me like.
Thanks for the comments.
Planning on making the frame plates from 8mm Hardox 450.
That looks epic!
What are the shock mounting bushes made from? PU?
We are using these dempers: http://www.maedler.nl/Article/68980220
Status update on the bf25 conversion, the Y and Z axis have already moved by the computer. Now working on the X axis.

A quick update, we had a first cnc cut on the new machine. After that we took it apart to add some oil groves for good lubrication. And painted everything to a other color with 2k auto paint.

:) looks cool!
New spindle motor and VFD arrived, now have to make some brackets to attach it to the milling head.
I also gone add a belt drive system instead of the plastic gears that are in right now.
Today made the mounting plate for the motor.

As some of you may have seen on facebook, we are building a new beetleweight ring spinner. This weekend we made a lot of progress most of the parts are already done. Here are some pictures of what we made so far.
If you want to see more like us on facebook! https://www.facebook.com/metalskullrobotics/

just looked back over this thread and mate this is some sexy engineering...
Haha, it looks beautiful so far, but it does remind me of a portable CD player!
Orbit is nearly done. This week we received new gearboxes because the current drives are way to fast.

Others have said it, I'll say it again - engineering porn! Looks great!
I'll 2nd that. Looks properly awesome!
That spinner looks like it could be pretty fearsome as well as pretty.
Did some progress on the rebuild off omega. It had a few big hits from Django and DB10 at the insomnia58. Redoing the gearboxes because there is a small design flaw on it. Also made already one new side plate. Witch is even a bit lighter to make space for a titanium bottom plate.
Also made two new wheels. I give it a shot on using shore 60 rubber for the back tires. I did some small tests and it don't seems the be less grippy but it is way harder i hope i will wear a little less.

a thing of beauty. Mine do a similiar thing on Spur 3 but the quality you have achieved is far more (do you think the wife would notice a CNC mill in the garage?, mmmm)
Yep, inspiring work there Stef!
Can I ask what sort of belts you are using for your drive?
And how are you keeping them tensioned? I can't see any idler wheels or anything in there. Do you have to take the wheels off to fit the belts?
Cheers!
thanks, I use a HTD 5 belt for the drives. I think it is the profile with the most grip on a pully.
There is no tensioner on the belt, i used the exact center distance minus 0.5mm for these pully's and that works just fine for me.

It has been a productive weekend! Two weekends to go before the competition at Facts in Gent, Belgium.

Looking very good, like how you have done the hub motor in the drum
Time for small update, right now we are building a beetleweight version of our feather Equinox. Most likely you have seen it already on facebook but anyway here are a few pictures. Also we are currently working on a new way bigger cnc mill more info on that later.

Do the side panels take hits ok with being standoff mounted?
So far is has been fine! But in all fairness, it has not yet fought another fierce spinner.
