Hey Dave, can you put me down for 2 beetles please? I'm not 100% sure they'll both be done in time, but I should be able to get them done in time.

Will do. Got names for them?
Main one (spinner) is called 'Hypernova'. Don't have a name for the second one yet, but I'll let you know when I do.
Beetleweights beware.

Meah...
it will KO itself in 5 seconds...
Looks good Jarvis :)
Not sure if I'm going to be able to finish mine as I'm still waiting for some parts from hobbyking that I ordered a few weeks ago, but will come even if I don't have a working robot to help with the arena/to spectate if thats ok Dave?
Arena help is badly needed lol. You're more than welcome to have a drive of either of my machines in some whiteboards or other fun shit we end up doing if you like.
Thanks Harry, that would be cool. And yeah I'll help out wherever I can :)
Hey Andy, I have literally this minute sent a PM to see how you were getting on, then saw this :P.
You're more than welcome to come along and spectate, but I hope you can compete too. What bits are you waiting for?
Its a 3S battery and a brushless ESC I'm waiting for still, hopefully they will still come in time but it is starting to look unlikely.
I got a 30a plush and a 3s 850mah 3s cheapy lipo if that's any use.
Thank you Harry, it's definitely worth a try - I'm getting the robot to the point where it should just need them to be put in to be completed for it to work.
We have 6 lipos for beetles, 4 1.3Ah 3S and 2 2.2Ah 3S... you can borrow one of those if it will fit as we will be bringing all of them.
Thanks Alex, yeah the 1.3Ah ones or Harrys should both work ok.
It will be strange to fill my bag for a weekend and stuff just tools into it :D and some underwear offcourse.

England, here i come!
You have to declare blades and knifes, all the pointy bits on my robots are non detachable so they let me off, they may have something to say about the cleaver.
Fantastic job, I should make a cradle but for this weight class, maybe a tad unnessesary :).
Ok, just so everyone is aware, we would like roboteers to be at the venue and preferably checked in by 10, just to help the timing along.
I made a sheath for the cleaver out of some foamrubber and ducktape. It's just not on the picture.
Instead of a locking bar I made it so that I can remove the rubberbands and the cleaver will rest on the ground.
The action of the solenoids is so limited that it can't pose a danger
I am having link positioning issues with Anvil. You can get to the link I currently have without any tools but by that point you have opened up the robot so it defeats the point. That said anvil is possibly the safest beetle that will be at the even with no active weapons and 250g underweight. How picky will you be? I don't have time to be chopping holes in the titanium.
Soundwave is all ready and working for Saturday. Now fitted with a locking bar and link too.
Mantle will also be coming along for a bit of non-spinner fun.
Does this forum always go this quiet so close to an event?
Usually because the roboteers are busy tinkering beforehand. We're procrastinators and we know it :).
Really gutted I won't be able to get down, hope you all have fun
We will, so no lynx?
I'm done tinkering, already accepted I'll be making final adjustments (like using locktite) during the event instead of afore.
At least on the wheels anyhow.
No lynx unfortunately, lack of time, money and effort. Hopefully I'll have it ready for Bluewater if there's going to be Beetle fights.
I won't be able to make it to another uk based event this year i fear.
Good luck with the build and I do hope to cross blades with you some day.
Anvil is basically ready. I know what upgrades and Mods she needs already and I will probably add more to the list after the event.
Since the armour warped during welding i am going to need to make a front blade of some kind. Will probably use the good old velco to hold it on.
But she is nippy, built like a brick and the grip is amazing so I am sure I will be pinning and pitting many opponents.
So my drum should arrive tomorrow, after it being with the machining company for three weeks and them only machining it yesterday eventhough I set a deadline, and I won't be able to know if the electrics actually work until someone elses battery is hooked up to it.....so a bit of tinkering to do and itll be working in no time? ;)
Wodge is done, sucks minor balls. Undercutter sucks major balls. The Great A'tuin just lacks any kind of balls lol.
That's a shame Niels but hopefully you are able to make it to another at some point, good luck at the event.
Yeah sorry about the lack of a pit, I didn't have the time I'm afraid (and my angle grinder had a mishap which makes it awkward to use ATM). There will be one next time I assure you.
Just got to wire up, pray its in weight and then Spinza is good to go!
Dave, what's the +/- on the beetleweights? I have the world's least accurate scales and i fear both of mine are slightly over.
In the featherweights you can be just 5g over in a 13.6kg bot... that is a mere 0.036%. So if you were 5g over in the beetles then it would be 0.333%. Ultimately its up to Dave but you will be have to be seriously close.
Surely it depends on whether it's being treated as a serious beetle tournament or just a series of whiteboard fights? If it's just a few random fights maybe just allow slightly overweight bots to fight?
I think it's already been noted as 5g somewhere so best stick to that. The tolerance is more to allow for scale inaccuracies so the robot's total mass and what percentage of that 5g is doesn't really matter.
Looks like in off to buy some more accurate scales then.... Either that or drilling lots of holes tomorrow morning!
Also, just to confirm I will defo have 2 beetles tomorrow. Hypernova and Holey Moley.
