Wow, nice to see a different type of spinner
Eh, it's really not that different. Basically Buzzbar, but cheers :)
Looking good, very similar to a design i had before i settled on the overhead
You're in the shed right now, making this, I think. Looking really awesome dudeguy. Please don't hurt me and my end tapped HDPE robot. :(

Beetles are happening. All the rest of the stuff to finish them is in the post. Attack Of The Bigger Thing I had driving for a bit but the ESC kept cutting out because botbitz. I think without the external mixer should be fine. Wodge is having the chopping board replaced with nylon and getting wheel guards.
Both are kind of fodder for the proper beetleweights but still. I intend to go out punching and biting.
Hobbyking/eBay stuff arrived. Running the same components in both bots so less spares to carry.

Rough layout of parts. I will probably mill pockets into the frame to give wires somewhere to pass through. Disc is sorted, just need to pay for it.

To get it to not cut out constantly I had to remove the mixer in the robot, and go back to the tx mixing which limits throttle to 50% or so. That got the robot to actually drive. So its slower and less powerful, but still it's probably better as it will be more controllable now.
Remaking that 4wd beetle I had out of better materials and making it suck less. Frame before was 10mm chopping board and 5mm aluminium. This has been changed to 3mm steel and 12mm nylon. Its got much smaller overall and has better, more sensible sized batteries. The height of the frame has gone from 30mm to 25mm.

with all the bits its about 700g. Which means it sucks at pushing anything. With another 500g (the eggbeater) taped to the top of it, it can happily push around bricks and things so I'll need add a 4mm steel lid or something to bring the weight up.

Drives nicely, although the mixer or the esc's glitch out from time to time so everything is very delayed on the stick.
Named it Wodge. Will get on adding a wedge or scoop to it soon. Probably be 5mm aluminium.
Looking good, I'd love to fight 'm both
Both looking frisky. What ground clearance did you originally have on the 4WD machine? You mentioned it kept getting stuck... that doesn't bode well for Anvil or Susan.
I had probably about 1.5mm on it before. I don't think it ever actually got grounded totally. I think you're fine with ground scraping fronts, but more clearance sides and back is a good idea. I now have about 4mm clearance all round but I will have a 0mm clerance wedge or scoop I think.
Aside from a kind of spinner, I don't know what Susan is? any details.
Susan is a miniature Binky. Yes, it will just as hard and be just as dangerous.
*runs away quickly to completely redesign robot
And just as likely to rarely work in the arena? ;)Quote:
it will just as hard and be just as dangerous.
I should built that mini Hatchet and then they'll fight like 2 kids in the playground who's dads hate eachother
Wodge is nearly there. Ellis was a proper gentleman and sorted me out with a load of cool stuff. One of these bits was a different esc which solved all the driving and derping out problems.
Made wheel guards and armour today. Chunky robot is chunky. Also got sillyscoop semi mounted.

Pretend-O'd some wheel guards out of 5mm alu. They were eggbeater's but they fit this nicely.

Like I said before, drives pretty nicely and should be better with the added weight of the steel. Still got about 350g to play with so I can add weight where I need it. Size wise it's 140mm long 150 wide. Obv much longer with the scoop of silliness.
Got some stuff to say about Attack of The Bigger Thing but I'll save that until I have some decent pictures.
Btw harry, where do you get your wheels from
Like the scoop of silliness too
wheels are ebay ones. Just searched 40mm foam wheels or something like that.
Cheers
Old and busted with shiny newness.

Looks really pro, nice work :)
Looking great
Cheers peeps.
I liked that bulkhead so much I made another one.

Thanks to the people who asked about eggy at the AWS. Gave me the kick up the arse to start the rerebuild of the thing.
Where'd you get your banebots wheels from haz
technobots
Looks ace Harry, still roughly the size of a moon I presume?
That's no moon!
Yeah it is. 120mm long and probs 300 wide.
Considering I have a 350mm bar I think I win thr oversized beetle award, honestly looks great though. Out of curiosity and for no particular reason at all how tall is it?
Main body is 30mm, beater supports are 64mm and beater is 75mm
*rubs hands* Excellent

Bulkheads slotted and another part of the frame added in.
I LIKE this.
I'm pretty pleased with it so far. Weighed it yesterday and I gots 250g for lid and wheel guards. I can carve a bit of weight out of the bulkheads and supports if needs be but its only gonna be like 2mm CF or maybes even thinner. Got a new motor for it so that might save a few grams.
Mounted motors. They look on the piss a bit cos they only got one bolt each holding them in for now.

Waiting on a hobbykink order. Got some motors to try out, couple escs, spare and a slightly bigger one should I need it, plus plugs/connectors, wire and some Rx's
Looks cracking Haz!
Cheers man. Please build a Beetle E so you can complete the set :)
Are the bulkheads 10mm ali
Yeah. Brace is 5mm.
yeah, might have to do that at some point Haz, just a bit put of by the fact everyone hates rambots nowadays LOL
Screw em. Build it anyway.
Now I remember why I built Anvil like a total brick! That is going to be one tough machine to beat!!!
