Try the New posts link. I think that's what you are after.
I'll look into this
Video embedding has now been fixed. Just use the Insert Video icon in the editor toolbar.
Why are all the threads in general chatter appearing in reverse alphabetical order?
There's two links to the constitution at the bottom of the page:
SITE MAP
FRA
Events
Rules and Safety
Constitution
Constitution
Meetings
Results
Membership
Updated the display order so should be correct now.
I don't like the orange highlighting of sticky threads, i would rather trace the highlighting for unread threads and the little symbol for stick threads but I don't know if you are able to change that?
I don't know if its my iphone? But when I look at this forum it is really bad, it looks like a cheap DIY job, when I go to main page it lists all the different sub forums but doesn't tell me which have new posts unless I go into them.
It might be that I'm viewing it on y iphone but if it isn't and everyone sees it how I do, then I would say you ruined it
Yeah I just came here again via my bookmark and its compleatly different thanks, but didn't need to click full site?
Quick question, is there a way to turn off the auto-subscribe feature so I don't get emailed every time someone else comments on a thread I have?
Go to your 'General Settings' section, scroll down to 'Default Thread Subscription Mode' then select 'Do not subscribe'. Job done :)
Ooops, was being blind!
Cheers Jamie.
well i think its great! looks sleek! and you can reply more easily! I think its really good and makes it look very professional! good job! only minor issue is the visibility of unread threads, but thats not too important the rest is great!
Not sure if it's just me but when sending private messages nothing appears in the 'Sent' folder despite the other person having received the message.
Other than that the redesign looks great, good job
There's an option to save a copy of sent messages to the 'Sent' folder. Just go into the general settings section and it should be about 3/4 of the way down the page :)
Aha, cheers Jamie! I suspect most would appreciate the default option being swapped?
Changed the default, but I think it's changed everyone else's too. Please double check your settings if you've changed something already (such as thread subscriptions).
Is there a way to make it so that the "forum posts" section on the right hand side of the homepage links you to the first unread post in that thread rather than the last or first post of it?
For example, at the moment the top post for me is Craig commenting on the Corvis thread, but when I click on it it takes me to the original post rather than the first unread one the way the forum used to do. Either that or I click the arrow and it takes me to Craigs post which means I might miss something.
I also notice that when I make it post it highlights it on the forum page as a new post until I go on and look at it again, is there any way of changing that?
Could you restore the clock in the top right corner? I miss that!
Can you not just use the clock in the bottom right corner of your screen (or wherever it may be located on your computer)?
An adroit suggestion with 2 minor drawbacks
1. 90% of the time I visit I'm on my phone. Which means switching the app off.
2. My computer crashes so much, the clock resets to 00:00 everyday. Consequently I can only tell how long I've been on the computer for. It won't automatically update.
Plus I just want it. Would it really bother you Jamie?
Doesn't bother me, no. I was just offering a possible solution that may have been overlooked as the ability to restore the clock may not be doable, since this forum now uses different software (used to be phpBB, now vBulletin, different formats & layouts, though Kane will obviously be able to activate it if possible)
When adding links to text in this form, replacing ['s for the ('s: (url=http://www.fightingrobots.co.uk)FRA Forum(/url)
For example: FRA Forum
The link text isn't distinguishable from the body text. Might it be more user friendly if the link text is either underlined or coloured as in the last forum edition?
This new forum is total chaos.. To be honest, i lost interest on reading the post due to the layout.
Also, not to take the mickey or anything, but I do miss the PM history thing that made it a lot easier to refer to what someone had told you, or you had told them 2 or more messages ago.
Overall I like the new look. A few things, though. Most likely my own incompetence:
-I don't know how to turn off the feature that automatically subscribes me to every thread I post in.
-I can't find an alternative to the "view active topics" button. The activity stream doesn't quite cut it, as it displays all posts, and so sort of repeats itself, often making it extremely long and hard to navigate.
Any help appreciated. :]
Link text in posts is now red.
Make sure you have the option "Save a copy of sent messages in my Sent Items folder by default" turned on.
This is the "Default Thread Subscription Mode" in General Settings
Try the New Posts link. Or Today's Posts under the Quick Links menu
i sometimes seem to have the problem where when viewing unread posts it skips out loads? and often only shows me the posts from that day, do other people have this problem or am i just doing something wrong?
It seems to do that with me too, I still seem to have a problem that once I have viewed a post then gone back to the main forum I have to go back onto the same "sub forum" thing before the new post symbol on the main forum goes away, does that make sense?
Just a quick one from me, my profile appears to be glitched: Location: nothing
Posts: Rowlands Castle
Robots: Endeavour (FW Active) 37
If this could be sorted out it would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks :)
I seem unable to start threads in random areas, for example at the moment there is no 'start new thread' button that I can use in the 'For Sale' section ???
Finding the website nice and bold, even worked out how to add the avatar picture myself! But need to find something appropriate!
As a newcomer to the site, I like it.
These things are built on templates, so I know it may not be possible to do this. But I personally would love a "favourite" button or bookmark. It's especially handy somewhere like this where someone gives advice or figures which might need to be looked-back-upon later-on.
im still not knowing when there's new posts like the old forum. Am i doing something wrong? or whats happening, as im not really sure whats going on. thanks though, its great other than that, very modern and professional
