Re: Zlayerz RPG: Identity Theft Redux!
Trillia tells Martijn that (most of) the Romans in the four camps are extremely afraid of the Gauls, even though Caesar has ordered them to destroy the village and make the Gauls pay homage to them (or else the failed Romans will be fed to the lions in the circus!). As for what to expect from the Gauls, they mostly live peaceful, carefree lifestyles. Sometimes they get into fights with each other but that is very quickly resolved indeed. Most of the fights they get into are with the Romans and the Romans simply cannot hold a candle to them.
Trillia goes on to tell Tracy that though the camps are fortified, the individual camps only hold about twice or thrice as many Romans as there are Gauls in the village. So while outnumbered, the Gauls are quite easily capable of holding their own. Reinforcements do arrive, but only after beaten centurions lead their forces from defeat. This constant supply of soldiers is slightly exhausting the amount of Caesar's legions.
Kody explains that the currency of that area is in sestertii (silver coins) and aurei (gold coins, 100 sestertii to an aureus). You will mostly be dealing with sestertii though, unless you get really lucky. And the said currency is only of worth in that world.

Re: Zlayerz RPG: Identity Theft Redux!
Indeed, Martijn!
continuing...
I think we'll take the Gaul Pit. What does everybody else think? asked Joey.
Nods of assent were clearly seen.
Well, that is indeed unanimous, remarked Kody. Right then, Trillia, energize the portal. We are leaving post-haste.
You too? cried the pixie. But you weren't able to enter any of the worlds!!
Correct, I am not, replied Kody. But as these folks will, so too will I go on.
You mean you're coming with us, Kody? said Joey.
Of course, the Team Zlayerz captain responded. This is a matter that involves me, and as such I will not tolerate such disrespect of my team. I have a robot of my own that I will use to come with you all.
That sounds good, but why didn't you do this before? cried Rob.
I think I know why, smirked Tracy. Kody can't do everything by himself. Can you?
No, he can't, replied Jordan before Kody could speak, so let's give him a hand.
Looks like you'll have your hands full with them, Trillia giggled.
Kody sighed. Come along.
****
They were at the huge static 'screen' again. Kody had hauled out a robot himself. Its name was Wedginator.
You're bringing Wedginator along? said Joey skeptically. Why couldn't you have just asked Shane for Envy and have done with it?
Liam and Lian sniggered.
Number one; I do not wish to endanger Shane's robot, growled Kody, and number two, I am familiar with my first robot rather than with Envy. Now if you'll let that moment pass, we will begin. Direct your robots, please.
Trilla, have you locked onto the location yet?
Yes, I'm connecting...now!
The screen flickered...and then showed the location of a Gaulish village, surrounded by four fortified Roman camps.
I'm rather nervous... said Lian uncertainly. I dunno how this is gonna work, Kody...
No time now! cried Martijn.
Correct. Let's go, said Kody, and they all walked simultaneously into the screen, robots at their sides. their figures became shadowy, and then vanished.
Well, there they go... said Rob the Boomboxer. Um...what do we do now?
Obvious, isn't it? said Trillia. We wait for them to come back.
WAITING BORES ME, boomed Charles. I NEED SOMETHING TO EX-TER-MIN-ATE.
Trillia and Rob looked at each other exasperatedly.
Fetch the moving targets, sighed Trillia.
----
**Gaul**
What a trip... said Joey. Then he gasped. His voice was mechanical! WHAT IS THIS?!?
Ah, I see you are not accustomed to this, spoke another mechanical voice.
Joey stared. It was a robot...Wedginator, to be specific. Only now Joey was level with it, and could see that its face vinyl was moving. Then he wondered why he felt so weird... and it hit him.
I'M A...HOLY ^%%#-#%$#@$%!!!!!!!!!! Expletives were spluttered out as they never had from Joey before.
Careful, careful, laughed the wedge, or you will attract unwanted attention. And in any case, you were warned.
I'M A BLOODY #$%@&$# ROBOT!!!
Sigh...
The others had become their own creations as well, but were taking it with less salt than Joey was. However, it still felt inexplicably strange to them.
Alright, spoke the wedge that was Wedginator, let's account for ourselves. Joey?
$%#$!!!
...Joey, calm down, beeped a black wedge with a red crusher on top. This is hardly like you at all. I mean, this is beyond anything I've ever experienced, but it's not that bad.
Correct...Tracy. So that's you down, said Kody ala Wedginator. Joey, are you here or not?
The dome-shaped robot was now recovering from its shock. Y-yeah, here, it mumbled.
Excellent! Martijn?
Aye, spoke the flipper-robot, next to dome-shaped one.
Good, good! Lian?
Right here - hey!!! Why is my voice so high-pitched?!? squeaked the box-like robot. It now began to spaz like Joey - er, No Consequences - did.
Guess you didn't choose your robot carefully enough, eh Lian? sneered a more-angled box on Lian's left. Pyrrha...I ask you...
The group (except Kody and Lian) roared with laughter.
Okay, that's both Lian and Liam accounted for. Which leaves...
Wotcher, replied a meaty translational robot in Jordan's voice.
Most marvelous, spoke the Wedginator. Now let's go by our robots' names, as we are them. I, Kody, am Wedginator, just so you know. Tracy is Bloody Frigid. Joey is No Consequences. Martijn is -
A big fat liar! chuckled Liam.
- Liar 2, went Wedginator as if there had been no interruption, Lian is Pyrrha - oh quit laughing you lot - Liam is Apocalypse II, and Jordan is All Bar Some. Any questions?
Yeah. Did you bring any money? spoke up the crusher that was Bloody Frigid. You never know, we might need some.
Not to worry, spoke Wedginator airily. I have all the ancient Roman funds you will need. However, I wish to split it among you, in case we split up. Gasps all around. Think of it as electric currency.
Soon the entire group had about 50 aurei and 5000 sestertii each. Jeez, Kody, you could have bought your way into Caesar's palace with all this, muttered Liar 2.
All that is gold does not glitter, sang Wedginator. Buying my way into anything would be most evil. Right, now that our money has been settled, let us reckon where we are.
They turned about. They were all on a beaten path of dirt and concrete. Robots though they were, the scenery could not have been more fitting for human civilization. There were great fields of grass as far as the eye could see. The path, however, led to a fortified camp, very far but visible in the distance. Turning back around, they found the path also went back into a forest. They could discern nothing in the forest.
Hmm, I see another path off over there, droned Apocalypse II. He motioned to the east. Across one of the fields was another path. It seemed to lead from the forest as well, but not to any camp they could see.
Quite the conundrum, aye, said All Bar Some.
Okay, so what do we do? said Bloody Frigid.
Let me think, said Wedginator, and paused for a second. That is a Roman camp, that is plain. Possibly one of the four attacking the Gaulish village. The forest probably contains the village itself.
We may have money, said Liar 2, but no supplies. Shouldn't we look for a village that sells supplies first?
Yes, I was coming to that, intoned Wedginator. Right now I deduce that it is no good approaching either village. The Gauls won't realize we are not Romans until we are dead, and the Romans will probably cart us off to Caesar without batting an eyelid. Or flipper, in this case.
What about that village of Lutetia or whatever it was called? piped up All Bar Some.
I have a hunch that path over THERE might lead to it, said No Consequences, completely over its panic now.
Lian? What do you think? asked Liar 2. The robot called Pyrrha, however, refused to speak. Oh come on, Lian, nobody's going to care about your voice in here.
Speak for yourself, sniggered Bloody Frigid. She and Apocalypse II broke into gales or laughter again.
Shut up! whined Pyrrha.
ENOUGH! bellowed Wedginator. Everybody went silent. We're on a serious quest here, you two.
Oh lighten up Kody, complained the crusher, let us have some fun all right? And you know me, I'm never serious.
He is right, though, said Liar 2. Let's choose on a way to go.
Up to you, said Wedginator.

Right. I'm along with you all; the RPG creator needs to have some fun as well. :P
As stated, a path you are on right now leads in one direction to a Roman camp, and in the other to a forest that likely contains the Gaulish village. There is a nearly parallel path in the distance that comes from the forest as well, but goes off into somewhere unknown. Where will you go? Discuss with your party members. As for me, I will go with the majority, or act as a tie-breaker if it comes to that. :P

Seconded - that is extremely odd...
Personally I'm more inclined to go and talk to the Romans rather than the Gauls - they do after all have the massive upper hand in the present situation. We do need supplies but the Roman camps will have just as many if not more, surely?
-
Re: Zlayerz RPG: Identity Theft Redux!
To clarify my viewpoint, it's the moral highground I'm aiming for in this conflict between the Romans and the Gauls, using the comics as my moral compass. The supplies the Gauls may give us may not be as numerous as what the Romans have to offer, but I'm taking the guess that they are still GOOD supplies, and enlisting their aid would make us look cool in the comic books after we are done altering history :P

While the Gauls do have supplies (they'd have to, or they'd have been toast before we get there), they aren't going to have much, based on the simple fact that they can't possibly trade or buy anything due to the camps in the way. (and if they can, it isn't going to be much, you can't be sneaky with lots of cargo.) So every thing they have, they make it themselves or they had it before they were surrounded. And too, because of the being surrounded and having no way to get stuff, their supplies are definatly finate, it's possible they are running out.
The Romans on the other hand, are going to have so much more stuff simply because His Holy Cocktail could send things along whenever the heck he feels like. So not only are they just going to have so much more, they are going to have a constant stream of the stuff. The Gauls can't compare, since Rome is sending, or CAN be sending, a mass amount of stuff from the rest of their territoiry. Their supplies as a result are basicly infinate.
I'm not saying we shouldn't, but if we do go to the Gauls right off the bat, then we should bring some supplies along with us to help bolster their defenses, OR we go straight in there and organise a raid. Or heck, even both! ;p
We can assume the Gauls have the gear that is Ko-d's, being the more friendly group and all, but we don't know that for sure yet. It's even possible the Romans swiped that. Needs moar infos.
Tracy you aren't a military general, put the SRPGs and Civilization down and stop trying to rationalize a RP.
I'm mostly worried about going to the Romans first for anything until we have some info of the area, or they are lible to kill me or us or everybody, and we have no rez items available. :proud:
Also yay history modification!
-
Re: Zlayerz RPG: Identity Theft Redux!
Wedginator agrees with Bloody Frigid for the most part. The problem though, he says, is finding supplies to begin with. He tells them (No Consequences in especial) that The Roman camps will be fortified and wary of strangers, especially strangers of outlandish appearance such as ourselves.
Wedginator also goes on to say that if you wish to split up, he won't stop you. He will follow his own path whether or not others stay with him or not. He just hopes that we all have the same goal; getting the Gear.
My thoughts...
-
Re: Zlayerz RPG: Identity Theft Redux!
Instead of wandering into a camp of Romans, why don't we intercept some supplies on the way in? Probably less heavily guarded and filled with less deathy goodness.
Also out strange appearance could work in our favour ala War Elephants or just being physically bigger than the Romans.
(Re-watched a lot of Time Commanders recently, in between screaming at my monitor due to the stupidity of some of the guys on it you learn some interesting stuff)

I like Jordan's idea, don't mess with the Roman village, mess with their transport outside it! Tackle some supply carriage, something we should be able to handle, get stuff out of it! And then, in my ideal world, get friendly with the Gauls!

Instead of wandering into a camp of Romans, why don't we intercept some supplies on the way in? said All Bar Some. It's probably less heavily guarded and filled with less deathy goodness.
Now that sounds like a plan I can support! remarked Liar 2. I'm behind Jordan!
The others made similar noises and gestures of agreement.
Very well, responded Wedginator. There's some cover around here so let's wait for a cohort and see what we will.
How DOES one see without eyes...? pondered Apocalypse II, before Bloody Frigid shoved him behind a massive bush. Sorry, it's just so bizarre.
Surprisingly, they did not have to wait long. Sounds could be heard from up ahead and barely seconds later a whole squadron of entities were trundling up the path from the distant Roman camp. Martijn aka Liar 2 tried to get a good reckoning of them. There seemed to be at least 20 of them, each of them with a weapon of some sort. In front there were two big brutish ones, with a seemingly important air. Liar 2 couldn't help noticing, however, that every single one of them was afraid. He could feel the fear from where he was in hiding, but he could not understand it.
Heads up, guys, there are some coming now, he told the others.
How many? inquired Pyrrha.
Around a score or so, answered Liar 2.
Ah, we cannot hope to conquer them in combat alone... said Wedginator grimly.
I wouldn't say that, actually, said Liar 2. I don't know what it is but they're terrified for some reason, I can feel it. I can't explain it and nor do I know of the meaning of it.
Wait, they're SCARED? exclaimed Apocalypse II.
Liam, shut up! growled All Bar Some. They'll hear us...
Sorry, muttered the flipper, but why the feck are they so frightened for? Does that mean we can take them?
Martijn, can you reckon their size from here? asked Wedginator.
Liar 2 checked again. Now the troop was closer. Indeed, the soldiers were not that great a size at all, except for the two great decurions. And now he could make out some voices as well...
Aye, Gaius Pintameadus, that is correct, spoke one of the decurions.
B-but Crismus Bonus knows the Gauls have a secret strength, what's he trying to pull sending us towards the village?! stuttered one of the soldiers.
Idiot! Use your head! We're going to find out what that secret IS! You're all here for back-up, shot back the decurion.
But won't they notice twenty of us marching towards the village? asked another soldier.
It's called a distraction, snapped the other decurion, now shut your trap or we'll report you.
Liar 2 turned back to the others to inform them of what he just saw and heard.
So, he whispered, you know what this means? The path does indeed lead to the Gauls! AND we know the Romans' purpose now! Or at least, these ones' purpose. At any rate I think we COULD take them, but they don't look like they have too many supplies.
Very good, said Wedginator. Personally I believe we should tail them as far as we can, until they get into combat with the villagers. I know the general feeling between the Gauls and the Romans, but I am particularly interested in seeing how they react in battle.
But CAN we tail them without being spitted? inquired No Consequences. We would probably make a lot of noise...
Well then I suggest we prepare for battle, but only then, responded Wedginator. In any case those two commanders seem rather tough.
Hurry up, guys! They're pretty close now... said Liar 2.

What will you do, guys? Charge them? Tail them? Or (by all means!) think of a different strategy?

Re: Zlayerz RPG: Identity Theft Redux!
My bot was built for durability, so me and somebody else could try and draw them out and the others can flank them. What do you say guys?
-
Re: Zlayerz RPG: Identity Theft Redux!
I don't really want to attack, at least not right off the bat. (Joey sez: Me too, attacking isn't even on my list of things I want to do, I want to get in good with the Romans so they can help us.) Wanna see what the Gauls have got before we go beating them up. Whatever it is, it's scaring the Romans, so it wouldn't hurt us at all to show some caution.
tbh I'm half tempted to tell them we're reinforcements or mercenaries or nice air salespeople or what have you and go along with them for a bit. Gauls'll think we're romans anyway since we aren't Gaulish at all, and if not a Gaul, probably a enemy, I think. :P If nothing else, we can get information from them, and if they attack we can take them since the lesser ones are scared out of their minds. I think they would be happy for the company, so we'd probably be ok.
Besides, if we get to the village and the Gauls are good as we think they may be, we can always flip the giant ones over. Not only will they be scared, now they are suprised. And also Gauls there to take some of the attention off of us. If we start flipping Romans over right in front of them we can't be terrible robo-beings, right?
And also also, who's to say the Gauls aren't blood thirsty beserkers in this roboverse anyway? We'll get our teeth kicked in either way, so just like the roboboy in the War-Amps commercial says: play (it) safe!
-
Re: Zlayerz RPG: Identity Theft Redux!
Get well soon Kody! unless you are, of course, already better then: Remain well Kody!
Anyway, I'd like to 'persuade' the Romans's to tell us what their distraction is. Taking them out in front of the Gaul's sound legit or we could go horror film style picking them off one by one
-
Re: Zlayerz RPG: Identity Theft Redux!
O great, this stuff is only getting more complex, curse you Kunz!
I am really not certain what to do, this is not the outcome I was expecting but I feel we are morally forced to do SOMETHING with it, I just am not sure what. I vote for the passive approach of quietly following them and hopefully getting more info.

Minor update:
We have some mixed opinions here. Martijn is for going with my plan, Tracy, Jordan (and Joey) wish to barter with the Romans, and Lian wishes to attack. Liam has said nothing yet.
However, now on the path from afar, there can be an entity made out, pulling a cart made out. He doesn't look particularly strong, but it is impossible to tell exactly what he is. He is heading away from the village and possibly towards the Roman camps. OR to another place, it is impossible to tell at this point.
Wedginator (me) considers this a minor trouble and is still concerned with tailing the Romans. What about you guys?
-
Re: Zlayerz RPG: Identity Theft Redux!
Sorry, my internet's been down for a couple of days :lame:
I'm up for tailing them, at least for a while... it seems like the most sensible option. I agree that we could probably take them, but there ARE a lot of them so I don't really fancy the potential losses we could suffer.

Well, I'm up for tailing the Romans, actually, said Bloody Frigid.
What?! exclaimed No Consequences.
We can always approach them later Joey, you silly, remarked Frigid, and besides, we can get even more info from them, potentially.
Spoken like a true ninja...bot, chuckled Liar 2.
I'm far from a ninja, laughed Frigid in return. Now let's tail those bÄstÄrds before they get away.
And so the group stealthily tracked the Roman score of soldiers down the path into the forest. Such a forest provided good cover, but the heroes were hard put to keep silent and not arouse suspicion.
What's that?! barked one of the decurions, and whipped about. Pyrrha had just managed to get behind a bush in time.
I-I-I heard there are bandits in this forest as well... gulped one of the soldiers.
By Jupiter! You call yourself a soldier?! Man up, will you?! yelled the decurion.
HERE WE COME, BY TOUTATIS!!!
The shout was the alarm that set hell loose. Two figures suddenly burst from bushes from the other side of the path and charged into the (tiny) Roman ranks. The soldiers yelled and tried to fight them off.
What's this?!? burst Apocalypse II out loud. He was about to find out.
The remaining decurion struck one of the two attackers dead-on with his axe. This attacker was the bigger one, and the axe blow did not do a single visible point of damage. Instead, it caused the robot to spin around, and bring ITS axe right back down on the decurion in return. There was a scream of pain as the top armour was completely bashed in, thinner than a pancake, and the side panelling fell off like nothing. The remaining soldiers then turned and fled with shrieks of fright.
The bigger robot continued to pound the decurion's remains.
Obelix, stop that, said the smaller figure, tossing the carcass of one of the other robots away. He's already knocked out.
Aw, but Asterix, can't we bring them around to start again? complained Obelix.
No, it's getting late, said Asterix. By Belenos, that's the third Roman attack in the last two days! They're sure getting jumpy!
That's unfair, they're trying to invade our home, not the other way around! grumbled Obelix.
Well, let them try! laughed Asterix. He looked to and fro for a second. Not even if they knew our secret would they gain much of a foothold on us.
I do like more activity though, said Obelix. I needed a good fight.
The two started to move off the direction the Romans were going.
Good fights don't always start with the Romans, Obelix, replied Asterix. But I would just like to be left alone. I have never forgiven them for their ruthless conquering of our lands. Not to mention they guard us ceaselessly and it's getting rather annoying.
You lead a boring lifestyle, Asterix, by Toutatis, grumbled Obelix.
Boring, eh? Well we'll soon fix that. To the village! said Asterix.
They were nearly out of sight.
Secret? breathed All Bar Some.
That's interesting. Now what? whispered Pyrrha.

continuing... (minor update; it's been so long! Forgive me! :( )
Looting the remaining Roman carcasses, the party pick up a few items and then tail Asterix and Obelix.
As they tail the plucky duo, they overhear a few things. The pair are clearly going to a Roman-fortified camp called Compendium, which is likely the camp in the distance. They also hear about a Gaulish druid named Getafix, who needs more supplies to make their magic potion.
We are nearing Compendium. Two Roman guards are outside the gates. They don't hinder Asterix or Obelix, but they are visibly shaking. They don't, however, detect the party.
"Problematic," whispers Frigid. "They'll let those two in. Us, probably not."
"They're pretty big," murmurs Pyrrha.
"Well they're not invincible," intones Liar 2.
"Let's discuss this," says the Wedginator, and they converse.
