I agree, can I share photos of my pets?
Would a continuous spinning flipper arm just be classed as a spinner? If not then thats a cool idea
I think it would, a bot in america ( whose name I forget ) uses a flywheel as a flipper arm because of the limit in rotation speed in the sportsman class because of the open arena.
I think this is it... but it doesn't look how I remember so there may be another out there...

I had been wondering about a rotary flipper, gear down a S900 to say 100rpm and use that... ridiculous quantities of torque but i am not sure what RR would make of it if I built it as a heavyweight.
EDIT: This is the one I was looking for! http://www.wa4dsy.com/robot/omegaforce2-robot
All these designs seem to be made by the same bloke!
You can have it going up to 500 rpm I think? I can bee the rules ATM because I'm on my iPod, but I think as long as its less than 500 rpm it's fine?
I think in arenas like that of Robots live the spinner weapons are just banned. however if you are making a flipper that uses a rotating action to flip another robot, I think you could argue this would not be an issue.
The thing is you have to convince the owners, that your particular weapon dose not increase the risk of a robot say being flipped through the arena doors!!
You have to prove safety is not compromised, for a weapon with a flipper speed of about 120rpm radius of 300mm tip speed would be only 3.726 meters per second, about 8.5miles per hour, enough for a heavy to tip over another. :proud:
