Why buy just the shell of a robot and then replace the shell/armour with something different?
because i want to eventually get it back into proper competition but 3mm steel aint going to stand much
To keep the thing as stock as can be, why not reinforce behind the steel with a material of some kind? Would save having to redo all of the artwork and such.
Just keep it the same, as said before why bother buying a shell the chopping it up? Big Brother still uses 3mm steel, at the end of the day if it gets damaged, its easy and cheap to replace. If you want to upgrade, just bolt some polycarb over the top.
Understandable, I think I'll just keep it original and deal with replacing it every now and then
How much did you pay for grimreaper then Matt ?
for my section £80, ive shared the lot with jonny
Good for you that they diden't stick with the auction, I was expecting the shells to go for more, good price. :proud: Which one have you got the white or green?
ive got the series 7 shell (the green one)
Exactly, I couldnt resist at that price! I got the White one and the feather, matt got the green one
Ok, keep it standard put in a decent FP or LP system. I'd go with poly on the existing armour to bulk it up. From the pictures the white one looked quite rusted around the seams how are they under the paint?
ill probably go for an envy style lp system but obviously with a rear hinged flipper. i dunno what jonny has planned for his :)
I'm planning on putting a merlin-esk style fp system in. The rust isn't too bad, i'll probably take of all the rust and paint then repaint it either blue and black or green and black. Slap a picture of a pug on it then maybe paint some skulls on :)
I may go FP but it depends on how my sponsor goes :)
Slightly off topic but if I made a robot which used a baseplate type chassis, what ways are there to do the armour/body work?
in what way do you mean 'do'?
Mount it properly
You tend to bolt the shell to the base plate
