has anyone got a link for the penguin kit?
email or pm me, there is no link i can give you all details
no link at this moment in time (will work on adding section to website but need to talk to you first harry). for the mean time for all enquiries contact harry (haz). we aren't experts but we know enough. and atleast we understand that acrylic is not a suitable building material.
Acrylic is good enough for kits fighting kits but against anything with some power behind it will probably break pretty fast.
tbf these are kits and simply provide an introduction into simple robotics and radio control, its a learning method and can be a pretty cool toy too.
I think James and Grant will know that if you wanted to make a competitive robot you would use different materials, but for what they are offering it is best option
Some great comments here guys thank you. Absolutely, acrylic isn't suitable for taking on spinners however any other weapon type in this kind of weight would cause no problems. For example the Mini Bot was run for almost a week at the GSL with out an acrylic failure.
We understand though that some people want to take things to the max. We are already working on the Carbon Fibre hop up armour panels and Ali chassis plates coming very soon :)
Oh and we have a cool video coming out soon :)
I'm more concerned about the level of consumer testing. It's alright being on a custom built arena with walls but the realities of possibly being sold to children bring an enormous headache:
Can it roll over a table without scratching it?
Can it fall off a table without damage?
Can it pull itself over carpet?
Would it survive being pushed by hand like a dinky/corgi car?
What would happen as a result of someone/thing chewing on it?
I appreciate your going to say you don't intend selling to people that young but my point wasn't you selling it - my point is the legal liability of what happens next.
Hello Ceri, thank you for your comments.
I don't feel the worry of any toy breaking if it was to fall off a table or wether or not it can operate when used on a variety of different surfaces poses a legal issue however I am grateful for your input and naturally like to hear peoples views.
it could be a nice base for someone wanting to beef it up to be a beetleweight aswell :)
