it's a shame in some respects, but i very much doubt there will be a spinner proof hw arena anytime soon. with the new advances in spinner technology the arena would have to be far stronger than the rw arena. so thicker polycarb, metal floor, solid roof. which means the arena costs more, is bigger, and alot heavier. i believe there was a subject about roaming robots possibly bringing back spinners in 2011 but extremely reduced although this was decided against due to the extra cost of more vans to transport the arena around the country. in a way i am glad spinners aren't aloowed currently as this would make england heavyweight competitions alot like american ones, either a heavily armoured highpower box wins or a spinner powerful enough to get rid of the boxes.
i do hope spinners are brought back even at a reduced rate (ie max 500 watt motor, 15kg max weight of disk, max 1000rpm) , after watching supernova on robot wars the other day i've had an urge to strap a huge flywheel powered by a drill motor to an electric wheelchair!
i would love to even see reduced power HW spinners in the arena just to see the shear power and spectical of a HW spinner
won't happen anytime soon. Plus there's no drive in the heavyweights to have destruction. Last heavyweight comp I was at there was negative feelings shall we say when there was actual destruction between machines.
Featherweight competitions have a completely different mentality that you need to be able to run spinners
i do see what you meanQuote:

One of the issues with spinners would be time and the ability to keep running. At events now there is not normally not that much damage so most robots are out of the arena and back in in two weeks time at another show.
If we were running shows once or twice a year then it's not a problem to rebuild every time we fight but the sheer cost of rebuilding a completely smashed heavy is a lot and if the chasis is damaged then it can be a major welding job to put it right.
Thor, terrorhurtz and tiberious are nasty little robots which can cause a great deal of damage but in reality a lot of it's supreficial and you can run with or without the damage and a big hammer normally sorts it out.
The featherweight spinner shows run once or twice a year so it can be the case that the robots are effectively disposable. Not the same for heavies where we are fortunate enough to have twelve or more shows a year. Robots are fun but personally I don't want to be spending every single weekend and evenings after work fixing them just to keep running. (even though recently we have been rebuilding between events :proud: )
i have heard that RR are trying to bring HW spinners back into the arena :)
