building speed controller out of solenoids?

Good point leo, made that mistake wiring them up a while back and had a disc jump to full speed on me, thought the relay was nackered :)

Same here, also a disc that wanted to start spinning as I put the link in (but had the lock in place). With those SSR's it really does make a difference where you put the positive from the battery as opposed to standard relays.
