You realise that if you have a spinner on your robot you can only enter 2 events a year
I live in harlow which is about 30 minutes from london.
It's got nothing to do where you live it's only that theres one arena in the country that can take spinners (you have a drum spinner on the front of your robot by the looks of it) and that arena only does 2 events in the year.
Only two events? Well... what about an axe? Or even maybe a pneumatic driven spike?
an axe is good or you can have a flipper/lifter but a pneumatic driven spike, I dont know...
For a cheap but effective spinner motor, a pair of Speed 900 motors work well. For an example of what they do, look up some 2009 videos of Drumroll.
Axes are a bit easier to make and can be used at all events around the country. Pneumatic spikes are largely ineffective against modern armour.
I asked about where you live because even with only 2 spinner-capable events per year, you would be well advised to attend an event nearby (or indeed any event) to get some information and examples directly from the sources.
Having looked it up, I would say your 2 nearest events would be Brentwood in Essex and Maidstone in Kent. Maidstone is coming up in November, details can be found on the Roaming Robots website.
I wouldn't mind doing a flipper or even a pneumatic hammer/axe but apparently there hard to make? But I don't know cos' i have zero experience ;) So Pointers please ;D?
Thank you david :)
