Ahhh tracing images in power point. Your dabbling in vector graphics rather then pixels (paint on windows).
I suggest if you want to develop this into something more worth while start learning illustrator.
Its an industry standard for vector graphics. Like photo shop for image manipulation.
Regarding the images. They are clean and poster like. But I would disagree with cartoon and say print or rotoshoped.
Rotoshoping is what you have exactly done. Take an existing image. Paste it, then drawing around it. Some more rememberal examples is Ah-has take on me music video. Its also used for cutting out people for some emergency composition work when a green screen was not used.
When I think cartoon I think that girl who drew the robots with cute eyes a while ago. Cant remember name.
If you want to develop this style then I would suggest looking into poster work. If you try illustrator you can fake a print effect. Add bolder lines, makes images look flatter which would work well with these. Match your perspective properly. A big one which is really holding you back is to learn to make round objects. As Western pointed out, 259 has a dodgy disk.
Its nice to see new artists and a very nice gesture to create images for people. Sorry if I sound a bit negative but you wont develop anything if all you hear is praise.
Wow, im supprised at how popular this is!
Guys, im going to get to work on your robots as soon as ive finished this freakin science homework and watched the new Lee Evans dvd! XD
And Marco, im happy using Powerpoint, besides, my family may be able to have the money to afford 4 robots, but were not completly made out of money! (If we where, i would have a heavyweight robot by now and 3D Studio Max!)
Max... Maya is better ;)
Hmm how can I say this without sounding evil. Every teacher I have ever met have been relaxed with copyright and I suggest to not worry about it.
Ok ok ok dont bite my head off.
I own a valid copy of maya and photoshop. As well as various assisting programs like texture map pro and HDRI studio. However when I was a student I didnt own any of the software. I downloaded them.
Now think of it this way. I started dabbling in photoshop and CAD when I was 13.
If I was hunted by the copyright police and sued by adobe, I today wouldnt not have spent 100s of pounds on there software.
I can tell you, 99% of digital artists started by using an illegal version of there software.
That said I feel a bit bad encouraging you to download an illegal version of the program. Maya does a free version on there website. This is designed for students and the only difference between this and the full product is big bold text all over the render making it useless. There are also student versions of a lot of adobe software. It usually lasts for a time period of around 3-4 years but costs very little.
If you want to dabble in 3d graphics try blender. Its a free 3d cad program and produces some rather nice render. Cinema 4D is also getting more impressive with every version I see. Has a very quick and impressive render.
My view on art made in power point and paint. I was watching Paul Merton in India and there was a guy who could draw using his mouth when he had perfectly good hands. Thats the way I see you and power point. Sure they look good but if you learned illustrator you could be so much better!
Sorry digital art is not only a hobby but also what I do for a living. Im mostly 3D but I work with two illustrators and wow they know how to use that program. I was once praised for a piece of 3d work of a cigarette lighter. A little confused as I never made one. It turned out that my college had made an amazing 2D illustration which looked so 3d my boss thought I did it!
Regards and sorry if I sound like I am ranting.
No, its ok, it doesnt sound like your ranting at all!
I have done a few robots, Davids, yours are done, Tom, Hooligan and Anxious are done.
I havent uploaded them yet, i will do that once all of them are done.
