1000psi Relief Valves
I personnally dont see the need for a 1000psi relief device before a low pressure regulator.
The device comes from the robot wars days when we started to see the first high pressure robots and some of the technical people knew nothing about the properties of CO2 (e.g. trying to fill bottles by pressure).
Today it is mainly a fair play device for the high pressure boys and a bit of a safety device.
Regulators are designed to be connected directly to the bottle without additional relief devices and the breakdown of the regulator would be vented by the low pressure relief device anyway. The addition of a 1000psi relief device only adds to the complexity, cost and weight in such a setup.

Hopefully the rules will be changed to remove this anomaly.
Whilst on the subject of rule changes ...
Id also like to see high pressure AIR tanks e.g. Scuba bottles allowed.

ahh we could see Cronus back then :)

As long as the pressure doesnt exceed 1000psi you can already use high pressure AIR tanks.

Nah ... High pressure inert gas storage ...or its not really viable when compared to co2.

This is the reason I have held back from making more regulators. It is not possible to modify the bottle fitting as the high pressure seal is integral to the body. This is the only way to keep the design compact.
As Kane says, this is to be debated at the next FRA meeting - 13th october - and the rules should be a lot clearer and precise. If it turns out that a 1000psi valve is mandatory I will make a fitting pack for all those who have bought regs for no extra cost.

What happened about the 1000 psi valve ruling for LP CO2 systems.

Trevor, the simplest solution is to add an Hydraulic T piece with the right treads between your reg and the CO2 nut.
the 3th tread would be used to fit the PRD.
And yes, I have one of your regs over here.

This is cleared up in the updated rules that will be on the website soon.
