RS80D - Speed Controller
Dave had a (very) quick go driving Ka-Pow! at the weekend, with the Sidewinder installed, but response is currently a little sluggish due to installing a gyro at the same time and not having played with rates on the gyro or Tx yet. Given the set up issues it seemed fine to me, compared to the RobotEq at least.

RS80D - Speed Controller
Didnt blow up when i drove ka-pow to the other side of the arena, fair enough lol.
Way i see it the RS80D is the same speed controller with a weapons output, and cheaper.
Anyone know the peak current the RS80D can take? (i.e. during motor stalls)

RS80D - Speed Controller
Both controllers appear to use practically the same components so will likely perform very similar. However, I believe the sidewinder has better heaksinking so doesnt rely on a fan to keep everything cool. Fans dont respond well to shocks.

RS80D - Speed Controller
The RS80D has a thermal cut out. Also if it does start to overheat and turn itself off all the time then the heatsinks can be enlarged. Should be ok for a 3min fight.

RS80D - Speed Controller
Is anyone importing the RS80s?
if not the palarver of getting stuff from the states might outweigh any price differential.. and as we know sometimes HM customs and excise are keen to remove any benefits...

RS80D - Speed Controller
I spoke to Brian from team logicom (phrizebee, the revolutionist and phrizebee-ultimate). He has a few 2nd hand ones (brand new and un-used) That was going to hopefully stop some customs charges as it would be classed as second hand or somthing.
Might have a lead on somthing else now though.

RS80D - Speed Controller
Two Aussie builders have blown RS80Ds in Featherweights... Due to the extremely high costs to rebuild them, they are moving on to Sidewinders as they are cheaper to get repaired and there is some support with them.
Mike Phillips in the US has stopped doing rebuilds on RS80Ds as they are to expensive to fix. If I was gonna spend the cash, Sidewinder would be my choice...
