Hmmmmmm, this is where I would exercise caution over the whole thing. Trey Roski is essentially a TV Exec looking to revive his BB format. He is backed up by money (millions of $worth) and the same amount of legal muscle. We have got to a point in the UK where we are bringing control back to the roboteering community. Call me a pessimist or reactionary if you like but I can see the whole thing going up the swannee by this one person having the TV format, the money and the legal might to take over completely and the means and methods to use them making anyone who opposes him consigned to hell.
Well said that Karoline.
that is one line of thought, but we have all moved on since the demise of robotwars. it stopped but we still continued doing what we do best, i cant see how excactly they could take over compleatly in terms of what we do, it is after all another game format for somthing that already exists and it will never stop the live events.
the only thing i could see it doing for us is getting the sport back in the media which would encourage more people to get into it and the different weight classes, and keep the sport growing in popularity.
basically at the end of the day he wants a great tv show and we want to promote our sport dont we ? so by working together maybe we can make great things happen for us all.

Work together that IS the key here but I would be very unwilling to commit anything - even an email - without knowing EXACTLY what ALL his intentions are - in other words I would want to examine a contract beforehand.
Karoline,
I dont think that anyone is asking us to sign in blood at the moment - just express an active interest in taking part if Battlebots came to the UK. I would be interested, and so would most other roboteers.

Q. Can an email agreement be a binding contract?
A. Much of todays business is conducted over email, and its possible to bind yourself to a contract through email, either deliberately or inadvertently. If an email or chain of emails clearly states an offer for entering into a deal with all of the material terms, and the other side responds by email accepting the terms, then theres a good chance that a valid contract has been formed ۠even though no signatures have been exchanged. So be careful. If all you intend is to negotiate the issues leading to a formal written and signed contract accepted by both parties, make sure you say that in your emails.

Trey is going to be FULLY aware of this too
Yes it will be good to see BB in the UK, I would be seriously interested but I would have to know the exact terms and conditions before even agreeing to showing an interest.
I never thought Id say this, but loosen up a little, this is meant to be a good thing?
Sorry Ewan, Karoline is spot on with her posts above. There is not a cat-in-hells chance I would even think of responding to an enquiry like this from Mr Roski or any other major event organiser without a detailed set of proposals with EVERY last I dotted and T crossed.
I believe Im correct in saying that in the USA Mr Roski has stated that he does not recognise the RFL (The US equivalent of the FRA) If this were to become the case here in the UK then who would represent the interests of the roboteering community in any possible future negotiations?
Just something to think about!
