Nice idea jack, but you wouldn't get the kind of power you would from pneumatics from that mechanism. Only robot I've seen use a motor for a flipper mech is SKE Warrior, but that using a flywheel's inertia and a magnet/clutch to latch onto flipper when he wante to fire it. For the weight, you'd be better off making a pneumatic flipper :).

it's a solenoid with some power to it.
Not sure if these will be sufficient to give a decent flip but I'm expecting two of these to show up this week to use in my own beetle. The longer you make your flipper arm will decrease the power at the tip but will increase the amount of travel.
