You could do a pneumatic spike but I doubt it would be very effective. Or a horizontal axe/hammer which again wouldn't work to well but I think would look cool.

Im leanig towards an axe yet a 4-bar lifter would be nice if it was built to self right
ah i see, a similar system is used on saint if i remember correctly. it was the 'got' in your sentence that confused me.
My only issue with a lifter is do they self right properly or would it need to be invertable? I'm not too sure on the 4-bar lifters but I think it would need to be invertable
If it's powerful enough, as in a hard punch, I would have thought it would self-right. And, I'd try and go for invertability (is that a word?) anyway. If your motors are mounted in the middle (in height) of the robot, all you need is some thinking about gear ratios, 4 or 2 holes and bigger wheels, right? :wink:
a bit like merlin but 4-bar lifter instead of the bar flipper?

im fairly settled on an axe since the ram im using is only 40mm bore, i wouldnt chuck much oput with that if it was a 4-bar lifter
