Tried to get into the casing but i can't get into it, might be easier to buy a new actuator and have the garentee it will work ;)

Never used an actuator, but can't you just replace the motor?
try finding a new motor for a actuator they no longer make and that has the same dimensions, fittings and gear ratio
are you sure your battery works ie does it power another motor ok ?
i have a redundant old actuator motor i have no use for might be able to make it fit your setup
If you can build a robot then surely swapping a motor for one that wasn't quite intended is the least of your worries!
its more then thing that the motor is a long thin one and its really funny shaped
just a thought, the actuator in Cylon has limit/inhibit switches built in. If you just tape these together then they stop it working. They need to be open circuits (ie: individually taped) to stop them interfering with the action.
