Re: A special Robot Wars Fan Fiction Anniversary
We have two robots in the Grand Final. Tornado, the number 2 seeds, with interchangable weapons and Macduff the 4th, a newcomer with similar interchangable weapons. But before we declare the seventh Robot Wars champion, we hand out the awards to those worthy of a mention in the Robot Wars clan.
The Best Designed Robot goes to Firestorm V, entered by Graham Bone and Andrew Jackson. They're veterans, having competed since Series Two, and the reason they won this award was because of its sleek wedge design along with the steel plate in front of the flipper allowing them to get under and throw the opposition up and over. Perhaps a surprise to Robot Wars fans, but well done to them.
The Most Original Entry goes to Traffic Warden, entered by Steven McGregor. A strange design, its a bracket shaped robot with two clamps in the openings that can crush a robot that falls into its grasp. Although they didn't get too far in the heats, the unique shape of this robot gives them this well deserved mention.
The Sportsmanship Award goes to Jack Orr. Jack has never complained about losing his fights once. Out of all of the competitors, it was hard to pick a winner. But still, the award goes to him.
The Best Engineered Robot also goes to Traffic Warden. The hydraulic clamps positioned in a unique way allowed it to grab hold of a robot and take it wherever they wanted it to go. The hydraulic system also unleashed 10 tonnes of destruction upon its victims. Well done once again to Steven McGregor.
And the Best Newcomer Award goes to Macduff the 4th, entered by Kody Kunz. A six wheel drive box with interchangable weapons including a scoop, lifting forks and a Co2 powered flipper. It has defeated some of the best robots here, and to reach this stage is a great victory for them. Well done.
Thats the awards, and after, the Grand Final. See you then :)
Re: A special Robot Wars Fan Fiction Anniversary
This is it, then
GRAND FINAL
From Toronto, in Canada, Macduff the 4th!
From Huntingdon, in Cambridgeshire, Tornado!
Roboteers, stand by!
B1: Macduff the 4th
B2: Tornado
House Robots: Mr Psycho and Growler
3-2-1: Activate!
What a grand final this will be! Tornado has the wedge with the flail, and Macduff the 4th has those lifting forks. Tornado swings around to try and get under the sides, but Macduff the 4th counters this and turns around to get the forks UNDER! Tornado backs away as it goes off, and Macduff the 4th gives chase! Tornado's flail won't be very good here, but the wedge will do all the work for them. Macduff the 4th charges at them and gets underneath Tornado, lifting it up and OVER! That won't harm them, though, they're invertible. The wedge is useless now. Macduff the 4th takes advantage of this and once again charges at Tornado, but the number 2 seeds and former champion swerve at the last minute and try to push them from the sides. Macduff the 4th turns around, but Tornado is relentless! Pushing them for a while before Macduff the 4th eventually gets away. Now they do get under the back of Tornado and lift them up, pushing them towards the pit release button. Into it they go! Both robots will have to avoid the pit. Down it goes. Tornado has been thrown free, and is right way up! They turn and try to get the wedge under the sides of Macduff the 4th, and are successful. Macduff the 4th, though, with six wheels, simply vacates itself from the wedge and is off and away again. Tornado gives chase. This is a very exciting battle so far! Macduff the 4th gets nudged by Tornado from behind, but it spins around to face it. Tornado is wary but charges anyway and this time they get under the forks! Pushing Macduff the 4th into an angle grinder! Macduff the 4th is away once again. Tornado pursues it, but now Macduff the 4th swings to get its forks under the side of Tornado and push it into a CPZ! Tornado needs to get out of there as Growler comes in and RAMS Tornado into the wall! Tornado is away, chased out of Growler's kennel! Mr Psycho comes in as well, and Macduff the 4th wisley backs away. How much damage did Growler cause to Tornado, though? It turns to face Macduff the 4th, but Macduff the 4th gets the forks under and lifts Tornado up and towards the PIT! Tornado on the EDGE and away! That was close! Now they push Macduff the 4th from the side and try to get them down the pit, but Macduff the 4th, with those six wheels as I said before, very fast and powerful! They slip under Tornado again and once more take them to the pit! Tornado surely going out but HANGING ON! They fell off the forks and ALMOST into the pit, but just escaped defeat by mere inches! Can the number 2 seeds still reclaim their title? They won the Sixth Wars, beating some of the best. Macduff the 4th, are they the best? Charging into the side of Tornado, but this allows Tornado to get its wedge underneath and push Macduff the 4th towards the flame pit. That won't harm it, its well armoured, Macduff the 4th. Back into the centre of the arena once more, crashing into the side of Tornado once more. Tornado lifted up, but not over. The last ten seconds count down. This has been a terrific grand final! Tornado and Macduff the 4th meet once again, and Tornado is underneath, pushing Macduff the 4th towards Mr Psycho! The judges will decide who wins, though.
Cease!
What a fight that was. Both robots are still mobile, so the judges will decide who wins this series of Robot Wars! You know the critera they look out for: Style, Control, Damage and Aggression.
Macduff the 4th: S: 3 C: 2 D: 1 A: 3 Total: 9
Tornado: S: 3 C: 2 D: 1 A: 2 Total: 8
Only one point in it, but Macduff the 4th wins Robot Wars: The Eighth Wars! Well done to Andrew Marchant and Mark Elam, for Tornado was one step closer to reclaiming its title. But Kody Kunz and Macduff the 4th. They are Robot Wars reigning champions!
But don't worry, because its not over yet! Next, we have the annihilator. Look at previous pages to see whose in it :)
Tell me if you didn't like the fight. It was one of the hardest ever, I should tell you :proud:
Re: A special Robot Wars Fan Fiction Anniversary
w00t, another tournament win and another award :proud:
Commiserations to all others who competed, of course, and a good tournament for an actual effort from Elliot this time. :)
Oh, and annihilator tactics have been given already. :)
Re: A special Robot Wars Fan Fiction Anniversary
Godd*mn it! 2nd place in a tourney? that's better then in most tournies I entered. Congrats to Kody for winning, and Elliot for showing us what he's got.
As has Kody, I've already given my tactics:
Quote:
Annihilator:
American Oil vs CrOoKeD eVo vs Super Gore Septua vs OID vs Traffic Warden vs Theseus
Sam? Kody? How about we destroy that wreck of a bot known as CrOoKeD eVo?
My strategy: American Oil actually stands a chance of surviving this first round if only for the fact that OID and CrOoKeD eVo are here. Get underneath the front of Crooked(It has 2mm ground clearance at the front, so its flipper doesn't touch the ground :proud: ) and flip it upside-down. Then use my tracks to send it to Super Gore so it gets crushed. If by some means Crooked escapes Super Gore's crushing jaws, then flip it and send it to Theseus so we can both launch it OOTA. If OID interferes at all during the battle between me and CrOoKeD eVo, then get under him and shove him into Theseus. Avoid Steve, as I don't have any beef with him, and stay alive should Super Gore or Theseus try to turn on me.
Re: A special Robot Wars Fan Fiction Anniversary
Welcome back to Robot Wars: The Eighth Wars! Today is the Annihilator. Six robots down to one. Who is in it?
ROUND ONE
From Texas, in the USA, American Oil!
A box wedge with two weapons, a pneumatic axe and an electric lifting arm. 4WD and fast at 15mph and also made from Titanium, but it has a high ground clearance.
From Richmond upon Thames, in London, Crooked Evo!
They went out early in the main series, but return here with the powerful Co2 powered flipper. Its the fastest in the battle at 25mph, but the Co2 supply is limited.
From Richmond upon Thames, in London, OID!
They also went out in the first round, but return here. Its shaped like a triangle with a rear wedge and a front spinning disc. Its invertible, but with 2WD, it can be pushed easily.
From Toronto, in Canada, Super Gore Septua!
Another newcomer. Its a tracked box with two crushing claws at the front. The tracks give it plenty of traction and Aluminium provides protection for the armour. The tracks are exposed, though.
From Vancouver, in Canada, Theseus!
The weapon is a powerful flipper. 4WD makes it a strong pusher along with 2 x LEM 36v Nicad batteries. The Co2 supply, like most, is limited to only 38 flips, so they'd better be careful.
From Glasgow, in Scotland, Traffic Warden!
Winners of the Most Original Entry Award, Traffic Warden hopes to clock a few robots here with its unique crusher. Although it is invertible, the high ground clearance could cause it trouble.
Roboteers, stand by!
B1: American Oil, Crooked Evo, OID
B2: Super Gore Septua, Theseus, Traffic Warden
House Robots: Sir Killalot and Mr Psycho
3-2-1: Activate!
COMMERCIAL BREAK
Sorry about that, but the rest of the fight will come up later on. Theres still time for tactics because of this. Its my first annihilator, so don't expect it to be too good :)
Re: A special Robot Wars Fan Fiction Anniversary
Yay, two awards! :proud:
ANNIHILATOR
ROUND 1
American Oil VS CroOKeD EvO VS O.I.D. VS Super Gore Septua VS Theseus VS TRAFFIC WARDEN
Hmm, tough ol' draw alright. Not much to do but trundle around, clamp whoever I happen to scoop up and dump in the pit ASAP. Aim for sides and rear ends, especially against the big flippers. No real target in mind, but if I have to pick, O.I.D. looks the neatest target for my clamps, so scoop it up and dump it ala Disc-O Inferno VS Tough as Nails.
Re: A special Robot Wars Fan Fiction Anniversary
Elliot, are you sure you weren't looking at the stats for Cyrilium Mach 3? Cause American Oil has a Pneumatic flipper and no axe...
Re: A special Robot Wars Fan Fiction Anniversary
Sorry, Mark. I looked at American Oil's Cyrilum Mach 3 version. Would you like me to use that version or the version you were talking about, with only a flipper and an axe
Re: A special Robot Wars Fan Fiction Anniversary
I'd rather use American Oil, as Cyrilium Mach 3 was a very bad version, and I'd rather use American Oil then Cyrilium Mach 3...
Re: A special Robot Wars Fan Fiction Anniversary
Sorry, Mark. I'll use the normal American Oil then :)
