the forks are massive Hardox mate
and where do said calculations come from Paul? Ive never found a way to calculate what time it takes for a spinner to spin up, nor what certain armours can take?
and meh, I can handle some slices, just ram MeCannibal in the pit and Ill be save :proud:

Trust me mate, after what I did to Crimson Thunder, a 5mm Hardox box, youll be getting more than a few slices :uhoh:
And I calulated the armour by using a calculator and certain figures. 1cm of Titanium can take 80kj Divide that by 2 = 40kj. Divide the first figure (80) by 5 = 16kj. Add those together. I posted in the stats on the Improvement thread and said it was all good, including the spin-up time of 3 seconds. In 1 second itll be doing 1500rpm (97.5kj) in 3, itll do 3000rpm (195kj) I had it all checked on, and no-one said it would self-destruct or anything. But I might not actually go for the forks now. Just hit the right/left sides if I get the chance, as thatll expose the internal workings.

meh, in one of my tourneys youd never do THAT to 5 mm Hardox, but Ill let Liam off, hes picking up fast
1 cm of titanium can take 80 kJ, where did you found this (not saying its wrong or anything :proud:)
And whats meant with take? Will it bend, will it shear, will it break?
And in what way is it applied? 80 kJ of pull? Impact? Push? Torsion?
And is the causality between what 10 mm and what 5 mm can take really linear?
and the 3 seconds is a guess isnt it? youre guess is as good as mine here, but this seems like something I might be able to calculate, so I might do so when I find the time
tactics: drive if forks first, stack him against the wall, dominate from there

Alex H said on Tengus page that 1cm of Ti can cope with 80kj
OK - let this discusion be decided in the arena

Flick of the Wrist v MeCannibal 2.0
The final battle of this years challenge belt!
The winner of this fight keeps the third challenge belt forever!Martijn already has the second one, while Paul has competed in every belt a total of 7 times with 4 different robots, failing to keep the belt everytime!
Surveying the final from the CPZs we have Mr.Pyscho, with hid faithful mutt Growler!
Flick of the Wrist took the second belt after defeating Supreme Glory Omega, Nitro-Gene 4.0 and Lethal Injection! Here he is today attempting to get rid of MeCannibal to get the third belt as well!
MeCannibal was the bot who took the first belt off Crimson Thunder, but then lost it to Nidhogg. It later Supreme Glory Omega for the second belt, but lost. Can he beat Flick of the Wrist and take the third belt?
Booth 1:Martijn M Benschop
Booth 2:Paul Cuomo
3,2,1,ACTIVATE!
MeCannibal starts spinning up as Martijn races towards it!
CRASH!
Martijn brought the spikes up to middle so they wouldnt buckle and now MeCannibal isnt spinning!Knowing this could be his only chance Martijn lifts MeCannibal and slams it into the angle grinder before dragging it into the pit release tyre!
Unfortunately MeCannibal falls off the spikes and shuffles away to spin up again! When Martijn comes on the attack this time Paul is ready and swings MeCannibal around to tear off a side panel! Those wheels are exposed now and Martijns got to be careful!
Before Paul can spin up again Martijn lifts MeCannibal again and starts edging towards the pit! But once again MeCannibal falls from the forks and spins up!
SLAM!
The forks are all buckled and bent! But that doesnt stop Martijn! He rams into MeCannibal and gets his front panel torn off, but it doesnt matter because hes bounced MeCannibal onto the edge of the pit!One shuffle pad is uselessy hanging over the chasm, and MeCannibal cant go anywhere!Martijn turns Flick of the Wrist around for one final shove!
CEASE!
Smoke rises from the pit, as MeCannibal lies in the depths of the chasm!Flick of the Wrist remains unbeaten!
Overall holders of the challenge belts:
1st belt- Nidhogg
2nd belt- Flick of the Wrist
3rd belt- Flick of the Wrist
Congratulations Martijn!

Well done Martijn. But why did I bounce?
MeCannibal is designed NOT to bounce, so surely Flick would have been sent spirilling. But Ive been here for longer than you, so Ill just say congratulations to Liam for a great competition.

Thanks very much Paul, hope you compete next time

mkay, nice
yeah, you did damage Flick Paul, I knew that would happen, and Im gonna guess the bouncing might have something to do with the fact that I stand firmly on the ground with 6 wheels and wont bounce that match
well done Liam&Paul

Just a few points to make€¦
First of all, it is actually possible to calculate spin-up times, however it is pretty complex. If you want to have a go, look http://robots.freehostia.com/Spinningdisks/Disks.html

Theres a very simple answer to that post of Pauls.
