There's quite a lot wrong with that...for starters superheavyweights generally weigh 154kg, and I'm not even going to go into the extremely ropey (and, I am reliably informed, utterly incorrect) physics of the 'weaponry' :P

There's quite a lot wrong with that...for starters superheavyweights generally weigh 154kg, and I'm not even going to go into the extremely ropey (and, I am reliably informed, utterly incorrect) physics of the 'weaponry' :P
superheavyweights usually weigh 150 kg mark, and am I right in thinking the 2 discs are meant to rip an opponent apart by hitting it in different rotational dimension? the physics you used to explain it are... complex at best, perhaps you can write it down in a more understandable way
How about now?
Tetris (IS A 2-PART CLUSTERBOT!!!)
Weight: 150kg combined, 75kg for each part.
Shape: (Each Part) Tornado (S7) with a scoop at the front.
Colour: One is pink, the other is green. The pink one has PART 1 written on it in black, while the green one has PART 2 written on it in white.
Dimensions: (Each Part) 75cm x 55cm x 15cm
Drive: (Each Part) 4 24v S28-150 Magmotors, powered by 5x NiCad Battlepacks.
Locomotion: (Each Part) 4 small Biohazard style rubber wheels.
Armour: (Each Part) 5mm Titanium
Speed: (Each Part) 15mph
Ground Clearance: (Each Part) 0mm at front due to solid Hardox scoop, 5mm at sides and back.
Turning Circle: (Each Part) 0m
Weapons: (Each Part) a 10kg horizontal clockwise-spinning disc in the scoop, powered by an LEM170 at 36v. The disc spins at 2000rpm, and is equipped with 8 0.5kg hardox teeth. To simply explain the physics: Both robot hit the opponent with their clockwise-spinning discs, the force of the hits combine in the middle of the target, and the counteraction of the forces causes serious shock damage to the target
Srimech: Both parts are invertible.
Strengths: Clusterbot, should be able to tear opponents twice as big up due to Newton's Law.
Weaknesses: A good flip and they should end up in Canada. Plus, if they're not aimed precisely, they could go flying across the arena.
Bio: I've had this idea for some time now. If 2 discs hit a target in a near straight line, the resulting counteraction of forces(Existing due to Newton's Law) should be enough to cause a small shockwave of counteracting forces in the opposing target, causing massive physical and shock damage. Now I've finally built the robot to test my theory. Even if it doesn't work, it should still do quite a bit of physical damage with the discs.
And if anything, at least help me iron out the bugs in this robot:
Tetris Un (Classic Heavyweight)
Weight: 75kg
Shape: Tornado (S7) with a scoop at the front.
Colour: Pink, with PART 1 written on it in black.
Dimensions: 75cm x 55cm x 15cm
Drive: 4 24v S28-150 Magmotors, powered by 5x NiCad Battlepacks.
Locomotion: 4 small Biohazard style rubber wheels.
Armour: 5mm Titanium
Speed: 15mph
Ground Clearance: 0mm at front due to solid titanium scoop, 5mm at sides and back.
Turning Circle: 0m
Weapons: A 10kg horizontal clockwise-spinning disc in the scoop, powered by an LEM170 at 36v. The disc spins at 2000rpm, and is equipped with 8 0.5kg hardox teeth.
Srimech: Both parts are invertible.
Strengths: Can do quite a bit of damage with that disc.
Weaknesses: A good flip and it should end up in Canada.
Bio: Half of Tetris, my Cluster-Superheavyweight, put to use as a Classic heavyweight(since I didn't have one).
And here's a battle to see how good/bad I am:
THE REVISED ROBOT WARS SERIES 1 FINAL:
Beast of Bodmin vs Pussycat vs Cassius II vs Chaos 2 vs S.H.A.R.O.N vs Griffon
Now, let's look at the robots to see how much different they are from Series 1:
Beast of Bodmin: Originally Roadblock, this robot was the winner last time around. With a new body shape and front lifting tusk, with the Beast rule again?
Pussycat: Originally Bodyhammer, it was the only other robot besides Roadblock to still be alive at the end. It lost the judges' decision, though. With its deadly cutting disc and full scale invertibility, with the cat keep its 9 lives?
Cassius II: Formerly Recyclopse and Cassius, they broke a drive chain in the final, and then lost the final the next year. With the anti-pit spike and ferocious flipper, Cassius II may finally win.
Chaos 2: Formerly Robot the Bruce and Chaos, they were stuck on their side in the final, and lost to Mace in the heat final next year. with the flipper that has flipped countless opponents OOTA, will Chaos win again?
S.H.A.R.O.N: Formerly T.R.A.C.I.E, they got wedged onto Cunning Plan previously, skipped Series 2, and didn't manage to qualify for Series 3. While the shape is the same, the weapons are 3 spikes on each side, and a drill at the rear. This time, will S.H.A.R.O.N bloom?
Griffon: Formerly Cunning Plan, they were stuck under T.R.A.C.I.E in the grand final, and next year went out in the gauntlet. However, it did win the Internet Insurrection grudge match. Will Griffon regain glory again?
3..2..1..Activate!!!
And in comes Chaos 2, immediately going after Griffon. Cassius just staying out of trouble, and the Beast of Bodmin going after Pussycat. S.H.A.R.O.N is now ramming Griffon with the rear end, as Cassius comes in with a little flip on Pussycat. That won't do anything, Rex. Pussycat's invertible. Griffon now tries to lift S.H.A.R.O.N, as Chaos 2 and the Beast of Bodmin have a little tussle, and oh! Chaos 2 has flipped the Beast of Bodmin over! And they're immobilized, the former students from Cornwall! Meanwhile, Cassius II is trying to flip Griffon, but Griffon getting under Cassius and lifting it over. That's okay. They can self-right, and doing so. Meanwhile, Pussycat scratching the Polycarbonate armor of Griffon, and S.H.A.R.O.N ramming Pussycat, and in comes Chaos 2, getting under Griffon, and flipping it over! Griffon tries valiantly to self-right. I don't think they can, and nether do they, and Griffon just sits there. Oliver looks quite irritated in the control pod, as S.H.A.R.O.N is flipped by Cassius II. Pussycat digging into Rex's machine, and causing some scratches on the polycarb. Chaos 2 getting under S.H.A.R.O.N and flipping it again, while Cassius II shoves Pussycat towards the pit of oblivion. Will the Cat go down? Do, as it barely manages to escape being pitted. Meanwhile, Chaos 2 has propped S.H.A.R.O.N on the arena wall, and I don't think they'll be getting down from there anytime soon. They're immobilized, as Cassius II fires the rear spike at Pussycat, and the spike pushes Pussycat into the previously unused Pit of Oblivion! Now Chaos 2 gets under the rear of Cassius II, and flipping it once, twice, and thrice. As the time ticks down, Cassius II bravely flips Chaos 2 over, just as CEASE is called.
The judges will have to decide. On the left is Sam Taylor: Pit reporter of VRW3 and a good friend of mine. In the middle, we have Sean Shope: My youth group teacher and another good friend. And on the right, we have Connor Meyer: A crazed ping-pong enthusiast and all around pain-in-the-asp. Now let's look at the highlights, shall we?
First off, Chaos 2, performing remarkably well, flipping and immobilizing the Beast of Bodmin. Cassius II flipping Pussycat. There we have Griffon lifting Cassius II over. Cassius II brilliantly self-righting. One of the real winners for me is there, where Chaos 2 flips Griffon over. Cassius II also did a good job, flipping S.H.A.R.O.N, and surviving battering from Pussycat, and eventually pitting the Cat.
Well, the judges... have made their decision. Based on style, control, damage, and aggression...
.
.
.
.
AND THEY'VE GONE FOR CHAOS 2!!! Chaos 2 and Cassius II, come up to the platform!
Me: Well, Rex. You at least got revenge on Pussycat.
Rex: Yeah. It finally felt good to pit Pussycat. Also, I didn't drive into the pit this time! *Chuckles*
Me: Well, weren't you worried about Chaos flipping you into the pit, or out of the arena?
Rex: Of course! We did some testing about 2 years ago, and Chaos flipped me numerous times.
Me: Well, you did a great job to get this far. ladies and Gentleman, let's give it up for Cassius II!!!
*Crowd Cheers*
Me: Now, George. Doesn't it feel good to be the winner of this rematch?
George: Of course it does. And Rex was right about the test fights.
Me: Well aren't you glad you got rid of Beast of Bodmin?
George: Of course. I mean, last time we were lucky to make it here, and now that we've won, especially against the previous champs, it feels quite better.
Me: Well, here's your trophy!!! *hands George Francis his trophy* *Crowd cheers like mad*
Me: Well, we brought them back,
And got an applause,
And we settled this match
On Robot Wars. Goodbye!
*Credits play*
What did you guys think of that?
Okay, it's time for me to do something nobody in fanfic is brave(or stupid) enough to do... Partially clone one of Timothy James Sillery's robots...
Counter
Weight: 100kg
Shape: A semicircle attached to a scoop. The semicircle is the back of the robot.
Colour: Just the color of titanium.
Dimensions: 70cm x 90cm x 25cm
Drive: 4 S28-400 Magmotors, powered by 6x NiCad Battlepacks
Locomotion: 4 aluminum boron carbide wheels with Vulkanized rubber tyres.
Armour: 6.5mm titanium/vanadium alloy
Speed: 20mph
Ground Clearance: 0mm at front due to solid titanium/vanadium alloy scoop. 5mm at sides and rear.
Turning Circle: 0m
Weapons: It can ram you quite hard.
Srimech: It is invertible
Strengths: Good pushing power, designed to kill Uberspinners(Including Mass Disctruction Ultimate 4.1)
Weaknesses: No active weapon, can be banned from tournies that do not allow passive weaponry.
Bio: Simply: welcome to Grand Theft Robot. TJS's horribly twisted robot Counter was seriously revised by me to become what TJS had tried to make it, but had not succeeded with: An Uberspinner-killer.
There's a good reason nobody tried to clone one of Tim's robots before Mark...
I'm disappointed in you Mark. You evidently have some talent in you, as evidenced by the fact that you can come up with lots of interesting ideas (usually of the illegal and/or impractical manner but there are a few good ones) and adapt the same basic drivetrain to lots of different concepts, so I ask you this...and I want you to answer me, not fob me off with another set of stats:
Why do you choose to take other peoples' designs without their permission and improve them, instead of coming up with your own?
It doesn't matter if the designs in question are old, retired, or belong to people who have left the forum or been banned. If the design isn't yours, and you do not have specific permission from the person who originally gave it you to use it, under no circumstances are you to take them to massacr-sorry, adapt in whatever way you choose. It's intellectual property theft and there's no reason for it at all (if you have a reason that isn't nonsensical and is somehow connected to the topic, I'd very much like to hear it)
It's okay to copy a design feature as used in another robot (if it wasn't, there would be next to no new vapourbots around) but taking the name, the very specific overall design, the unique weaponry or the spirit of another machine without asking permission first is not tolerable. I welcomed you back with the hope that you had changed; it has become very clear to me that you haven't at all, and I shall be forced to lobby for your rebanning at the next available opportunity unless you shape up quick. You've been given good advice, which you choose to disregard, on this issue before...now, if it's not too difficult, could I have an answer to my question please?
I will answer the question as carefully as I can.
The reason is: because I'm afraid.
I know this sounds very weird, but it shouldn't. I am afraid. Afraid that my bots will do suckishly in any tournies I enter them into. Afraid that I can't try an untested design without it being frowned upon by everyone. Afraid that if I make one robot even partially reminiscent of somebody else's(Eg: Wishbone), that I will be banned, crushed via the banhammer, and have my remains swept up into a dustbin.
So that's why. For me, it just feels safer to make a copy of a robot that won 1 fight and lost everything else, instead of trying a brand new and possibly crazy design which might go out in the first round.
I hope this make sense, and if it doesn't, I understand. But you need to realize that I'm afraid of my old/new designs coming back and haunting me with a massive amount of losses.
Example:
Look at Cyrilium! Lost against Your very own No Objections in Liam's Challenge Belt, was given invertibility, then lost again in the same competition against Nitro-Gene 4.0, was revised as Cyrilium 2, lost to Liar 2 in Robot SMASH!!!, lost to Infusion in AJWars: Another Era, was revised as Cyrilium Mach 2, was the first one out in the first EOTR Annihilator, lost to Wedge Devo in the EOTR Challenge Belt, was revised again as Cyrilium Mach 3, never saw combat, was permanently retired, then rebuilt in Cyrilium 2 format as American Oil.
Out of all the robots here, it has the worst Win/Loss ratio in the entire FanFic community!
So does that (hopefully) answer your question?
If I'm reading that correctly, you're scared of being banned if you copy other people's robots...so...you copy other people's robots?
Let me look at what I typed for a moment...
*Reads post*
You're right! I would try and fix it, but the editing time is up.
Allow me to explain. (And hopefully not counteract myself... )
Say I want to build a powerful spinning robot with twin vertical discs, like Heavy Metal Noise, but I'm afraid that it'll go out in the first round of... Let's randomly say PTT7. So what do I do? I look for a tried and true design, and make a copy of... Let's say Wedginator(It had 2 spinning discs). I know that Wedginator 1.0 won only one fight, but I go ahead and make a copy of it since my idea(The twin vertical spinning blades) could do no better. But then again, it could do no worse also... And therefore I should go for my idea, and if it doesn't work, refine it, enter it in another tourney, scrap it, replace it...
You know what? You're totally right! I have no right at all to copy other people's designs! And I should come up with my own designs!!!
Admittedly, I have screwed up in this area(copying other people's bots without permission, although I don't think you could with permission) way more then TJS, but I just realized that, on my own, I could probably build something even better! Thanks, Joey!
A citizen of the frozen nation of Canada is displeased with you, Elam...
...And no, not the one who pointed out my unibrow on Dailybooth.
I think people need to get over the whole copying of bots. If you think your design is original, your 99% mistaken. It has probably been done in some shape and form previous.
MDU (A mutant clone of Gyrobot itself) had a bunch of clones after it's first successful win, including clones King Cholera, Crankshafted, Angel of the Abyse and a direct clone AJ made up :) I think it's rather petty of people complaining of this and it always just ends in a bunch of people posting 5 threads worth of name calling :|
IMHO, I consider it flattery to have someone clone my design.
I don't remember that one...Quote:

If it's accidental, or an inside joke with the original creator, then I'm not too bothered with it, Aaron, but Mark here is just cloning bots to intentionally pi$$ people off, or at least that's what it's looking like to me.Quote:

In your case, and throughout Team Gore/Zlayerz history, when
Ivy, Killothwack Beta, Laertes, Laertes the 2nd, The Sickness, The Grand Illusion, Curse of Dread, Troubloon: Twice the Trouble, Dysfunction, Destructophobic Mach II, Seung Mina, Killobite Recharged, Killobite Rebooted, Macduff, Wedginator rEVILution, Wedginator Reborn, Super Gore GTI, Super Gore: Artificial Intelligence, Super Gore Revo, and Intriguing
were retired, they never fought a battle, and I feel that these robots have a right to fight at least once, since they were never used in combat.
I know I'm probably making a pointless argument, but I just want you to look back, and realize: Hey! Maybe I should've used them at least once.
I understand what I did wrong, and won't do it again, but seriously, look back, and remember...
EDIT: And no, I don't intend to P!$$ people off when I (partially) copy their designs. I want them to see me enter the design in a tourney, and then, depending on whether I lose my first match, make the heat final, make the quarter-finals, make the semis, or make the grand final/3rd place playoff, They can say: Wow. I'm glad I never entered that robot, or I can't believe I didn't enter that robot in a competition!!! It did great! or Crap... That guy won a tourney using a partial copy of my outdated machine? What the h*ll!
So do you at least partially understand(I hope)?
Mark, that still doesn't give you the right to rip-off mine and other people's bots; you're stealing credit for our designs. And as for your you should think about bringing back retired bots...well, have you ever considered that maybe we don't want to bring our bots back from the dead? And why on earth are you deliberately cloning a TIM bot? His designs were utter bullocks themselves, and...god that just doesn't make any sense...
I also disagree with Aaron's whole I-don't-give-a-damn-about-being-copied-from thing for myself, as I like my designs in my own hands and not someone else's, but I guess the whole thing has different points of view with different people. Aaron may have been flattered about people cloning MDU1, but quite frankly if I come up with something relatively original, and it gets cloned right from under my nose, that's quite an insult. Cloning successful wedges...that's been going on for ages; same thing with FBSs. However say someone cloned Mornington Crescent, a very decent double-ring spinner, which to me seems quite original (unless I've missed something), and is one of Steve-o's latest brainwaves. Wouldn't Steve be, at the very least, a little bit indignant at the person who did it? I'd say so. I'm not going to try and change Aaron's mind or anyone else's, I'm just speaking what I think of this issue. By the way, look at what happened with Dan's PTT5 bot, Quake. See the utter crap that resulted from that?
With the current robotic physics going on right now, though, there is only a finite amount of originality until something new is discovered and is usable for our style of robot combat, so there will be some indirect cloning, but it pains me to see Mark intentionally clone some original designs and claim them as his own.
I'm just wondering, are you suggesting that I ask somebody if I can clone their design before I do it :?: I'm a bit confused there...Quote:

Interesting... A robot with a shaking mechanism to cause damage... it didn't work out, according to this:
Quote:
From PTT5:
ARCHANGEL OF THE ABYSS & ROO CUBED won their battle after StratosFear OOTAed Quake, before the No.27 seed was bashed up by the spinners
...yes?Quote:

And just because Quake lost its first fight doesn't mean it was a failure, just that Dan didn't want to keep using it after that. His decision.
So here's what I've learned:
1: Ask somebody if it's okay to clone their robot before you do it.
2: Not all thrown-away robots are bad.
3: Do not clone anything made by TJS.
4: Do not intentionally P!$$ someone off by cloning their robots without permission.
5: If somebody says no about 1(above), respect their decision.
Sorry about he double post. My internet was messed up and wouldn't let me on to check.
(edit leorcc: I removed the double post)
After seeing several of the debates between Alex M and W and Tony, and considering I'll be off for summer after today, I have decided to create this robot: ARC Welder.
ARC Welder
Weight: 100kg
Shape: A reverse Kill-O-Amp with rounded edges and a scoop at the front. The sides and sharp edges are rounded to prevent spinners from using them to damage me.
Colour: The Plasma Blue colour of a blowtorch's hot flame, with the name written on the sides in chrome.
Dimensions: 80cm x 70cm x 25cm
Drive: 2 24v C40-300 Magmotors, powered by 5x NiCad Battlepacks
Locomotion: 2 solid Vulkanized Rubber Wheels with Aluminum Boron Carbide hubs
Armour: 7.5mm Titanium/vanadium alloy. beneath that is 10mm of vulkanized rubber to protect against impacts.
Speed: 15mph
Ground Clearance: 0mm at front due to scoop, and at sides and back due to 4mm titanium torsion-sprung skirts. The skirts' springs are wrapped around a foam rod to prevent the springs from being damaged. 5mm ground clearance without skirts.
Turning Circle: 0m
Weapons: A solid Titanium/Vanadium alloy scoop, designed to survive spinners in the 250kj range. This is specifically designed to kill Mass Disctruction Ultimate 4.1. The robot also has a massive amount of shockproofing to protect against impacts on the sides.
Srimech: Invertible
Strengths: Near invincible!!!
Weaknesses: Can't really do anything except survive.
Bio: After my revision of the TJS-bot Counter failed, I decided to try once more to build a MDU-proof bot. ARC Welder was the result. The rounded edges should prevent a spinner from latching on and tearing, while the rubber and shockproofing should protect against internal damage.
Let's break down this post, shall we...
After seeing several of the debates between Alex M and W and Tony, and considering I'll be off for summer after today, I have decided to create this robot: ARC Welder.
1. Alex MW and Tony got their shite straightened out long ago and they're friends now, no need to bring that back up again.
2. Off for summer? I'll believe it when I see no posts by you until late September.
3. Have you ever been to ARC?
ARC Welder
That's...one strange name, but okay...
Weight: 100kg
Okay.
Shape: A reverse Kill-O-Amp with rounded edges and a scoop at the front. The sides and sharp edges are rounded to prevent spinners from using them to damage me.
This smells of copying for some reason...you never copied a certain drumbot's shape? Though I think this one was unintentional...
Colour: The Plasma Blue colour of a blowtorch's hot flame, with the name written on the sides in chrome.
Never heard of 'Plasma' blue...though I know the blue colour of a hot flame.
Dimensions: 80cm x 70cm x 25cm
Drive: 2 24v C40-300 Magmotors, powered by 5x NiCad Battlepacks
Dimensions might be a tad small, but still okay.
Locomotion: 2 solid Vulkanized Rubber Wheels with Aluminum Boron Carbide hubs
Not sure if you can have ABC hubs (anyone confirm?). 2WD isn't really that good for a pusher, but whatever.
Armour: 7.5mm Titanium/vanadium alloy. beneath that is 10mm of vulkanized rubber to protect against impacts.
You can have tougher armour than that (possibly double), but seriously, the rubber you had before (50mm) you edited it to 10mm was overkill. Even 10mm itself might be too much.
Speed: 15mph
Okay.
Ground Clearance: 0mm at front due to scoop, and at sides and back due to 4mm titanium torsion-sprung skirts. The skirts' springs are wrapped around a foam rod to prevent the springs from being damaged. 5mm ground clearance without skirts.
I don't think that's how sprung skirts are supposed to work, but whatever.
Turning Circle: 0m
Not really needed, but okay.
Weapons: A solid Titanium/Vanadium alloy scoop, designed to survive spinners in the 250kj range. This is specifically designed to kill Mass Disctruction Ultimate 4.1. The robot also has a massive amount of shockproofing to protect against impacts on the sides.
Right...how thick is this scoop? How do you know it can survive 250kJ? How do you know it can kill MDU4.1? I'd scrap quite a bit of that if I were you. I'd also switch the ti/v scoop for Hardox scoop; better for the scoop.
Srimech: Invertible
Okay.
Strengths: Near invincible!!!
Weaknesses: Can't really do anything except survive.
Augh. Still persistent with this, aren't you...well don't be surprised if it loses a lot, aside from its many existing faults.
Bio: After my revision of the TJS-bot Counter failed, I decided to try once more to build a MDU-proof bot. ARC Welder was the result. The rounded edges should prevent a spinner from latching on and tearing, while the rubber and shockproofing should protect against internal damage.
Rounded edges don't matter as much as the material used for those edges. If it's rounded, but aluminium, that won't prevent something like Megabyte or Typhoon 2 from tearing the hell out of it. But since you're not using aluminium, can't exactly call you out there. Just telling you that rounded edges don't matter as much as material used.
So yeah, again you need to fix up your bot...
By Off for summer, it means I will not have any homework to do for 3 whole months, and you know what a pain in the asp homework is...
I have seen ARC, and decided not to join, since the stats there are rather complicated.
ARC Welder
Weight: 100kg
Shape: A reverse Kill-O-Amp with rounded edges and a scoop at the front. The sides and sharp edges are rounded to cause spinners to bounce off me, rather then tear me up.
Colour: The bluish colour of a blowtorch's hot flame, with the name written on the sides in chrome.
Dimensions: 85cm x 75cm x 25cm
Drive: 2 24v S28-400 Magmotors, powered by 5x NiCad Battlepacks
Locomotion: 2 solid Vulkanized Rubber Wheels with Aluminum Boron Carbide hubs
Armour: 15mm Titanium/vanadium alloy monocoque. beneath that is 5mm of vulkanized rubber to protect against impacts.
Weapons: A solid 7mm thick hardox scoop, designed to survive spinners ranging from 100 to 250kjs. This specific scoop weapon should be tough enough to kill Mass Disctruction Ultimate 4.1. The robot also has a massive amount of shockproofing to protect against impacts on the sides.
Srimech: Invertible
Strengths: Strong armor, tough scoop.
Weaknesses: Can't really do anything except survive, weak drive for the weight, average speed.
Bio: After my revision of the TJS-bot Counter failed, I decided to try once more to build a MDU-proof bot. ARC Welder was the result. The rounded edges should cause a spinner to bounce off, while the rubber and shockproofing should protect against shock damage.
After checking your stats, it appears the the robot you think I might've copied was your very own Dysfunction. And thanks for helping me. I could really use it.
It's not a case of I don't care if you copy me, it's the fact that I'd rather let people use the concepts I come up with so they can expand upon them further, maybe even bring some improvements to the table at the same time. If your so up tight about your 'designs' being copied, go patent them . If he gets your goat that much, just ignore him :)
Ah, if only all the energy of whining and fighting on these forums were put into completing tournaments and coming up with robot designs, it would be pretty close to the old glory days...
Xanax anyone?
It's a lot of work and very expensive to make a pair of hubs from it, but apart from that I don't see why not.Quote:

Drive: 2 24v S28-400 Magmotors powered by 7x NiCad Battlepacks.
Locomotion: 2 foam-filled urethane rubber wheels with aluminum boron carbide hubs.
Armour: 3.5mm Hardox monocoque
Speed: 20mph
Ground Clearance: 0mm at front, 0mm at back due to torsion-sprung titanium skirt(5mm without skirts), and 5mm at sides.

Srimech: The flipper. If it lands on its side, the rather interesting shape will allow it to fall back onto its flipper.
Strengths: Good weapon, excellent body shape, strong armor, extra rear weapon.
Weaknesses: Controversy. Nah, there never was any controversy.
Bio: The sequel to a clearly ripped off robot(Destructophobic), Killophobic is essentially an updated version of Lightning, of who's team I am an honourary member of. The robot should do well in combat.

Ground Clearance: 0mm at front due to wedge, and at sides and back due to 4mm titanium skirts. 5mm at sides and back without skirts.
Turning Circle: 0m
Weapon: The front wedge has Mute-style barbs on it. Once a robot is stuck on the wedge, the Jaw, powered by a 2.5kg 750psi Co2 tank, comes down with about 2.5 tonnes of force. The weapon is designed to grab, not to crush.
Srimech: A pneumatic rear-hinged lifting arm, built into wedge-shaped top of the robot, powered by a 1.5kg 750psi Co2 tank.
Strengths: Powerful motors, revised srimech.
Weaknesses: Average armor, and limited Co2 for the srimech.
Bio: Roveress Evo was mostly overhauled and became Dalmatian. The shape was switched to a modified Storm II shape, but the weapon was kept and improved.
Bandwagon (Active)
Weight: 100kg
Shape: A quite complex box-wedge. The box shape itself is angled 10 degrees towards the wedge, which itself is angled at 45 degrees. The entire shape's edges are rounded to protect against spinners, while the back is rounded to prevent stranding.
Colour: Chrome. The flipper is red, while the skirts are blue.
Dimensions: 100cm x 80cm x 30cm
Drive: 4x 24v S28-400 Magmotors, powered by 7x A123 Battlepacks, giving me an average of about 18hp.
Locomotion: 4 solid rubber wheels with Aluminum Boron Carbide hubs.
Armour: 5.5mm Titanium/Vanadium alloy, with 7.5mm of Vulkanized rubber on top.
Speed: 20mph
Ground Clearance: 0mm at front due to shape, 0mm at sides and back due to 5mm titanium torsion-sprung skirts. The torsion springs are wrapped around a foam column to protect them from shock damage. 5mm without skirts.
Turning Circle: 0m
Weapons: A powerful rear-hinged flipper, powered by a 1000pi 2.5kg nitrogen tank, and utilizing 2 70mm bore 300mm stroke rams to power the flipper. The flipper can flip up to 500kg about half a meter into the air.
Srimech: The flipper.
Strengths: Jumping on the bandwagon.
Weaknesses: It can only flip, push, and move at 20mph. Not much else.
Bio: Bandwagon was a robot with a design based on the very successful Alex Holt vapour Achilles. After seeing Kody Kunz and his robot Seung Mina V, I realized I also needed an Achilles-type robot.
Tallit (Active)
Weight: 150kg
Shape: A triangle shape, quite like Gabriel.
Colour: White, with thin Gold and blue stripes.
Dimensions: 120cm x 90cm x 35cm
Drive: 2 36v LEM-170 motors, powered by 9x NiCad Battlepacks, giving me an average of 26hp.
Locomotion: 2 Drillzilla-style shuffling feet at the rear, giving Tallit good traction and pushing ability. The robot also has a caster underneath the nose to allow maximum traction on the floor.
Armour: 5.75mm Hardox monocoque
Speed: 20mph
Ground Clearance: 0mm at front due semi-wedge shape, and 0mm at sides and back due to 5mm titanium skirts. 5mm without skirts.
Turning Circle: 0m
Weapons: A rear-hinged electric lifting arm, powered by 2 36v LEM-130 motors. It can lift 200kg 50cm into the air.
Srimech: The lifting arm.
Strengths: Shuffler, uses weight advantage, has an actually powerful electric lifting arm.
Weaknesses: Could have major faults.
Bio: The first ever vapour specifically designed to represent Israel in the World Championships, Tallit is a shuffler, and is prepared to do a whole lot of flipping with its actually powerful electric lifting arm.
American Oil (Active)
Weight: 110kg
Shape: All Torque (S2), which is a long box with a wedge on the front and back. However, the wedge at the front is extended all the way to the ground. The sides are also slanted 10 degrees inward, like a wedge, to prevent stranding.
Colour: Chrome with 3 stripes: one red, one white, and one blue running down the middle. The sides are black.
Dimensions: 90cm x 70cm x 20cm
Drive: 4 24v S28-400 Magmotors, powered by 6x NiCad Battlepacks.
Locomotion: 2 70cm x 10cm x 10cm rubber tank tracks.
Armour: 6.5mm titanium/vanadium alloy
Speed: 17mph
Ground Clearance: 0mm at the front due to extended wedge, and at the sides and back due to torsion-sprung 5mm titanium skirts. The springs are wrapped around a foam rod to prevent shock damage. 5mm without skirts.
Turning Circle: 0m
Weapons: A 1000psi rear-hinged flipper with 20 flips mounted on the front, powered by a 2.5kg Co2 tank. The robot uses an 80mm bore 500mm stroke hydraulic ram to counter for the increased pressure, and the rear wedge should prevent me from flipping myself.
Srimech: The flipper. Luckily, the slightly modified All Torque shape prevents it from being stranded on its side.
Strength: Tough, uses the 10kg track advantage wisely.
Weakness: Tracks Controversy
Bio: This robot was previously a newcomer in both Robot SMASH and AJWars. While it performed lacklusterly both times(being beaten by Liar 2 and Infusion respectively), I have decided to be possibly stupid and revive it, mostly due to me not properly exploiting the tracks weight advantage. If you need to know, this robot was formerly Cyrilium 2.
Tenderizer's Revenge (Active)
Weight: 100kg
Shape: Wedge of Doom (Battlebots Series 4.0)
Colour: Black.
Dimensions:90cm x 70cm x 20cm
Drive: 6x S28-150 Magmotors, powered by 6x NiCad Battlepacks.
Locomotion: 6 externally mounted solid rubber wheels with aluminum boron carbide hubs.
Armour: 5mm titanium, except the front wedge which is 8mm titanium,
Speed: 25mph
Ground Clearance: 0mm at front, and 5mm at sides and back.
Turning Circle: 0m
Weapons: A powerful axe, with a 3kg meat tenderizer for an axehead. The tenderizer's blades are diamond tipped, and it can hit an opponent and do damage when the axe springs back to its rested position, like Terrorhurtz. The axe itself is powered by a 2.2kg 750psi Co2 tank feeding gas to a 70mm bore 600mm stroke ram, giving near 600kgs of force.
Srimech: The axe self-rights the robot. If it gets stuck on its side, repeatedly firing the axe will cause it to land on its back or right way up.
Strengths: Powerful axe. Also very maneuverable.
Weaknesses: Exposed wheels and average armor.
Bio: The sequel to Tenderizer, Tenderizer's Revenge is a modification of the old Hell's Teeth-shaped design. The axe is still there, tough.
Negativity (Active)
Weight: 100kg
Shape: Right out of Robot Wars: Arenas of Destruction. A Flat Disc.
Colour: Dark blue, with silver lightning bolts on the top.
Dimensions: 70cm x 70cm x 15cm
Drive: 4 24v S28-150 Magmotors, powered by 6x NiCad Battlepacks.
Locomotion: 4 solid Vulkanized rubber wheels.
Armour: 7mm titanium/vanadium alloy monocoque
Speed: 18mph
Ground Clearance: 5mm all around.
Turning Circle: 0m
Weapon: The weapon is a 100cm-in-length 15kg Hardox spinning bar that spins at 1300RPM, powered by two 36v LEM170 motors. The bar is spun up to full speed in 3 seconds, but will cause damage in 1 second. The blade is mounted on top of the robot.
Srimech: The spinning weapon will self-right the robot if it manages to flip itself via a reverse mauler dance performed numerous times by Tornado Mer and Killer Byte.
Strengths: Dangerous blade and tough armor.
Weaknesses: Not fast enough to chase most new robots.
Bio: This robot was designed after the retiring of my previous spinning blade robot Ninjoid Evo. The silver lightning bolts are a tribute to Team Lightning.
ARC Welder (Active)
Weapons: A solid 7mm thick Hardox scoop, designed to survive spinners ranging from 100 to 250kjs. This specific scoop weapon should be tough enough to kill Mass Disctruction Ultimate 4.1. The robot also has a massive amount of shockproofing to protect against impacts on the sides.
Srimech: Invertible
Strengths: Strong armor, tough scoop.
Weaknesses: Can't really do anything except hopefully survive, weak drive for the weight, average speed.
Bio: After my revision of the TJS-bot Counter failed, I decided to try once more to build a MDU-proof bot. ARC Welder was the result. The rounded edges should cause a spinner to bounce off, while the rubber and shockproofing should protect against shock damage.
Minesweeper 1.1 (Active)
Weight: 100kg
Shape: Tornado (S7)
Colour: Gold on top and bottom, Silver on the sides, with MINESWEEPER written on the sides in red. The scoops are bronze.
Dimensions: 90cm x 85cm x 25cm
Drive: 4x 24v S28-400 Magmotors, powered by 8x A123 Battlepacks. I should get about an average of 18hp from all of them.
Locomotion: 4 Titanium/Vanadium alloy wheels with Vulkanized rubber tyres.
Armour: 6mm Hardox monocoque, underneath that is 5mm of Vulkanized rubber to absorb impacts.
Speed: 20mph
Ground Clearance: 0mm at front and back due to scoops, and 5mm at sides.
Turning Circle: 0m
Weapon: 2 solid Hardox snowplow-like scoops that can move slightly vertically, like Behemoth's, so I get good pushing power, but 0mm ground clearance at front and back. The robot also has a bunch of shockproofing around the belts, electronics, and motors, due to the fact that it was originally designed as a spinner killer/rambot.
Srimech: Invertible
Strengths: Super-reliable and fast. Now more powerful.
Weaknesses: No real offensive weapon.
Bio: Minesweeper was overhauled with slightly lighter armour and lower speeds. However, it managed to regain its powerful pushing power via 4 Magmotors. The scoops remain, and the robot is still invertible. It's shape was slightly modified, but it's still ready to defeat opponents with good pushing power.
Spanikophobia (Active)
Weight: 100kg
Shape: Firestorm. The crusher is at the far rear of the robot.
Colour: Tan. The Crusher is silver, as usual.
Dimensions: 80cm x 60cm x 30cm
Drive: 2x 24v S28-400 Magmotors, powered by 5x NiCad Battlepacks.
Locomotion: 2 solid Vulkanized rubber wheels.
Armour: 6mm Titanium/Vanadium alloy
Speed: 15mph
Ground Clearance: 0mm at front due to wedge, and at sides and back due to 4mm titanium skirts. 5mm without skirts.
Turning Circle: 0m
Weapon: A rather unusual crusher. Instead of the shape being sharp, the shape is flat, wide, and blunt, very much like the crusher of Leo Van Miert's Holepunch. Using a Vivoil pump powered by a 24v S28-400 Magmotor, it can come down with over 6 tonnes of force.
Srimech: The robot's shape causes it to roll onto the back/top of the crusher, which then retracts back and flips the robot right way up again.
Strengths: Tough armour. The crusher can help it dominate the match. Also very maneuverable.
Weaknesses: Slow self-righting and low top speeds.
Bio: Bubble Blaster was totally overhauled with a new shape. The only thing even remotely familiar is the differently shaped crusher.
Me Name is Death (Active)
Weight: 150kg
Shape: An unrefined wedge, similar to the Italian robot Mastiff.
Colour: The bare metal, plus ME NAME IS DEATH written on the wedge in red.
Dimensions: 110cm x 50cm x 50cm
Drive: 4x 36v LEM-130s, powered by 10x 36v A123 Battlepacks.
Locomotion: 4x Drillzilla-style shuffling pads, giving the robot a good top speed, and high pushing power.
Armour: 6mm Hardox monocoque
Speed: 25mph
Ground Clearance: 0mm at front due to wedge, 0mm at sides and back due to skirts, 8mm without skirts.
Turning Circle: 0m
Weapon: A front-hinged flipper, powered by a 1.5kg Nitrogen tank at 350psi. Yes, this is a low-pressure flipper, but it can flip at least 200kg, enough to flip any competitor. It has about 25-30 flips, give or take the weight of the enemy.
Srimech: The flipper. it can't get stuck on its back or sides because the skirts will make the robot's flipper at least partially contact the floor.
Strengths: Fast, and uses the weight advantage of shufflers. Has good pushing power.
Weaknesses: The unrefined shape.
Bio: My first ever shuffler. The design is based upon the basic unrefined wedge shape, and incorporates a flipper to boot.
Any improvements that can be made? Any problems that need to be fixed? Any major amounts of Overkill that need to be addressed?
I KNOW I said I'd take a long break, and I will, but here's an idea for the future
This is a real robot and vapourbot competition
I call it Robot Wars...The Eighth Wars :proud:
For some reason, I keep hoping one day Robot Wars will drag itself from the gutter of the TV guide and return to its past glory. However, I also believe it won't
Before this, I'll do another series of the FRFFT, probably a 4 or 8 robot heavyweight competition. You haven't seen the last of it yet!
For RW8, I plan to have six people enter one of their own robots and a real robot. Typhoon, Storm, Tornado and X-Terminator will be kept as the seeds, and will appear in the heat
It's going to be small, but I was hoping we'd see some new and old robots return for one more time
After that I'll probably retire from writing forever :proud:
Who thinks I should try it one day? To bring Robot Wars, a full series, back? :)
It's OK if you don't want me to
-You ought to describe the shape better. There's a good chance that people might not have heard of Lightning and assume the robot's shaped like a lightning bolt instead.Quote:

Colour: White with black spots.
Dimensions: 90cm x 70cm x 25cm
Drive: 4x 24v S28-400 Magmotors, powered by 6x NiCad Battlepacks.

-2.5 tonnes of forces...designed to grab rather than crush? The numbers don't match up here...to be honest the design could use some improvement, you have a srimech that's seperate and provides no use as a weapon which is just a waste of space and weight, and it has its own gas supply? I'd redo it so at least the weapons and srimech shared a gas supply, or they were combined into one item.
-Foam columns aren't going to do much to protect the skirt springs in my opinion.Quote:

-Why is this designed to represent Israel in the World Championships? That makes it useless the rest of the time when there's no World Championships...it's your decision but I think you're severely restricting yourself there.
-Why Israel anyway, out of curiosity? It's a touch out of left field at best, unless you have connections there that beg to be brought up in the world of vapours :proud:

-Pushing power is more reliant on the gearing of the motors than the motion type used, lower speed means higher pushing power and vice versa. You can't really go at 25mph and have much power, at least not with motors that will fit inside 100kgs.Quote:
-I'd go to CO2 for the flipper, the nitrogen supply will go down a lot faster than the CO2 would and you'll be more likely to run out of flips.
...I still think you've got a few more robots than you're ever, ever likely going to use in a tournament to be honest. Do you really need them all?Quote:
Any improvements that can be made? Any problems that need to be fixed? Any major amounts of Overkill that need to be addressed?
Killophobic (Active)
Weight: 100kg
Shape: Lightning (S7), essentially a wedge with highly angled sides and rear. It looks a bit like an angled flying saucer.
Colour: Gold. The flipper is dark blue.
Dimensions: 90cm x 80cm x 35cm
Drive: 2 24v S28-400 Magmotors powered by 4x NiCad Battlepacks.
Locomotion: 2 foam-filled urethane rubber wheels with aluminum boron carbide hubs.
Armour: 3.5mm Hardox monocoque
Speed: 20mph
Ground Clearance: 0mm at front, 0mm at back due to torsion-sprung titanium skirt(5mm without skirts), and 5mm at sides.
Turning Circle: 0m
Weapons: A rear-hinged flipper, powered by a 2.2kg 750psi Co2 tank. It can flip robots up to 1000kg using a 70mm bore 300mm stroke ram.
Srimech: The flipper. If it lands on its side, the rather interesting shape will allow it to fall back onto its flipper.
Strengths: Good weapon, excellent body shape, strong armor, extra rear weapon.
Weaknesses: Controversy. Nah, there never was any controversy.
Bio: The sequel to a clearly ripped off robot, Killophobic is essentially an updated version of Lightning, of who's team I am an honourary member of. The robot should do well in combat.
Dalmatian (Active)
Weight: 100kg
Shape: Storm II, basically a box with the sides angled inwards, with Growler's upper jaw(Shaped like the top of a bulldog's head) above the front wedge. The top of the robot slowly rises like a wedge to stop at the back of the Growler head.
Colour: White with black spots.
Dimensions: 90cm x 70cm x 25cm
Drive: 4x 24v S28-400 Magmotors, powered by 6x NiCad Battlepacks.
Locomotion: 4 foam filled Vulkanized rubber wheels.
Armour: 5.5mm Titanium/Vanadium alloy.
Speed: 20mph
Ground Clearance: 0mm at front due to wedge, and at sides and back due to 4mm titanium skirts. 5mm at sides and back without skirts.
Turning Circle: 0m
Weapon: The front wedge has Mute-style barbs on it. Once a robot is stuck on the wedge, the Jaw, powered by a 3kg 750psi Co2 tank, comes down with about 1 tonne of force. The weapon is designed to grab, not to crush.
Srimech: A pneumatic rear-hinged lifting arm, built into wedge-shaped top of the robot, powered by a the weapon's Co2 tank.
Armour: 5.5mm Titanium/Vanadium alloy, with 7.5mm of Vulkanized rubber on top to prevent axes from doing damage. If need be, the rubber can be removed and placed under the titanium for shock absorption.
Speed: 20mph
Ground Clearance: 0mm at front due to shape, 0mm at sides and back due to 5mm titanium torsion-sprung skirts.
Shape: Elongated triangular pyramid with steep rear and very shallow front, like Gabriel
The reason it represents Israel: I hope to go there some day and see the places mentioned in the Bible.
Weapons: A 750psi rear-hinged flipper with 20 flips mounted on the front, powered by a 2.5kg Co2 tank. The robot uses an 80mm bore 300mm stroke hydraulic ram to counter for the increased pressure, and the rear wedge should prevent me from flipping myself.
Son of Tenderizer (Active)
Weight: 100kg
Shape: Simply, a box with 2 wedges at the front: one on the left, and one on the right. There is 20cm of width in between the 2 wedges for the Tenderizer to come down, like Wedge of Doom
Colour: Black.
Dimensions:90cm x 70cm x 20cm
Drive: 4x S28-400 Magmotors, powered by 6x NiCad Battlepacks.
The axe itself is powered by a 2.2kg 750psi Co2 tank feeding gas to a 90mm bore 400mm stroke ram which pushes the axe forward, giving near 600kgs of force.
Srimech: The axe self-rights the robot. If it gets stuck on its side, repeatedly firing the axe will cause it to land on its back or right way up.
Strengths: Powerful axe. Also very maneuverable.
Weaknesses: Exposed wheels and average armor.
Bio: The sequel to Tenderizer, the name was originally Tenderizer's Revenge, but Richard Southworth already has a robot named that. Son of Tenderizer is a modification of the old Hell's Teeth-shaped design. The axe is still there, tough.
Negativity (Active)
Weight: 100kg
Shape: Right out of Robot Wars: Arenas of Destruction. A Flat Disc.
Colour: Dark blue, with silver lightning bolts on the top.
Dimensions: 70cm x 70cm x 20cm
Weight: 100kg
Shape: A reverse Kill-O-Amp(Triangular prism on its side) with rounded edges and a scoop at the front.
Speed: 15mph
Ground Clearance: 0mm at front due to scoop, and at sides and back due to 4mm titanium torsion-sprung skirts.5mm without skirts.
Turning Circle: 0m
Weapons: A solid 8mm thick Hardox scoop, designed to survive powerful spinners.
Shape: Tornado, basically an invertible box on wheels.
Shape: Firestorm(A refined wedge with rounded sides and rear).
Speed: 15mph
Ground Clearance: 0mm at front due to wedge, 0mm at sides and back due to skirts, 8mm without skirts.
Turning Circle: 0m
Weapon: A front-hinged flipper, powered by a 2kg Co2 tank at 350psi.
Any more problems?
As for the Torsion-springs with foam rods: The spring is coiled around the foam rod, so when the area where the spring is gets hit, the shock will be transferred to the foam. An example is Liam; he had Apocalypse II's torsion springs break numerous times in VRW3.
yeah well Mark... that tourney was written by Mark Elam so realism isn't really a factor... :lame:
oh wait...
Not really. If a skirt is hit properly, then the impact transferred due to the spring might be able to break it.
And don't tell me you aren't happy about being in 3rd Place...

Hey Jamie! Good to see you again. Remember me? Liam's mini-tourney, you had Dr. Acula, beat me on a judge's decision, and I believe lost to Do or Die.
...thanks Jamie, I guess :proud:
It's my birthday today
Is it? Well happy birthday then.
Happy birthday, Elliot!!!
And now, the replacement for Minesweeper 1.1(Which was more of a freshening then an overhaul...)
Sweep Mines, or Die!!!
Weight: 150kg
Shape: A basic invertible box on wheels with scoops at the front and rear, however the sides are slightly rounded.
Colour: Dark Grey, with SWEEP MINES, OR DIE!!! written on both sides in what I call Blowtorch Flame Blue.
Dimensions: 90cm x 60cm x 20cm
Drive: 2 72v Perm 132 motors, powered by 9x NiCad Battlepacks.
Locomotion: 2 Drillzilla-style shuffling fleet running through both the top and bottom of the robot, making it invertible.
Armour: 5mm Hardox, with 10mm of rubber underneath for shockproofing.
Speed: 15mph
Ground Clearance: 0mm at front and back due to scoops, 5mm at sides.
Strengths: Shuffler, uses weight advantage, ENORMOUS pushing power, tough armor.
Weaknesses: No active weapon...
Bio: The previous incarnation was nothing more then a freshening. After looking at Chezza's Do or Die, I realized that, well... my pushing power actually sucked. Therefore, I went overkill and decided to use Perm 132 motors to power shuffling feet: a dangerously powerful combination.
