I love the weight strapped on the top of that lifter bot. :)
Everyone began at that stage! James used to have a cable comming from his first version of Venom to power the claw. To activate the claw he had 2 drawing pins pushed into the transmiter attacted to the battery pack that was also selo-taped to the transmiter. To ctivate it he just had to push a paper clip over the pins untill it burnt his finger :)
At least these guys do it. And with the means at their disposal its no mean feat either.
Funny though, seeing its a transmitter going up in smoke for once instead of the robot.

Babeth, it does happen, I have 2, no wait 3, transmitters that have gone up in smoke around here somewhere.
My DX6 went up in smoke not long ago too.
How did you manage that?
Because I swapped the charging terminals round so that I could use it with Futaba chargers. When i put it back together the port in the back wasnt in properly, and came loose inside frying most of the wires inside.
You muppet Grant!!
that said, I also managed to totally fubar a DX6 back in January.. I had just finished testing a machine, put the TX on the floor behind me to remove the link from the machine, stepped back and stood on it. I crushed both joysticks flush to the front panel, split the LCD display and snapped the main board from top to bottom!!
I think thats a worse mistake than mine :)
I atleast manage to repair mine!
I stood on my remote control for my dalek and broke the joystick, still waiting for it to be fixed
xterminated remote
And i thought me snapping the antenna of my DX6 in half was bad. :)
I have a spare one if you need it Leo! (About the only bit I didnt damage!!)
so far ive solved it the roboteers way, Ductape.
Ive ordere a new antenna, so i am ok. The antenna does work just as well as before so it is more a cosmetic thing than anything else.
someone covering their whole body in peanut butter and walking around a university campus :)

Planning to try it at your campus Gary? :)
What a waste of good peanut butter.
Now, if the bloke had covered himself up in ductape and then walked around the campus... that would have been something to see and talk to the grandkids about on long dark cold wintry nights...
Now ductape on a very hairy man now THAT would be something to talk about..... OUCH
Exactly my point.

FOOD FOR THOUGHT
REST OF THE WORLD VERSION:
The squirrel works hard in the withering heat all summer long, building and improving his house and laying up supplies for the winter. The grasshopper thinks hes a fool, and laughs and dances and plays the summer away.
Come winter, the squirrel is warm and well fed. The shivering grasshopper has no food or shelter, so he dies out in the cold.
THE END
THE BRITISH VERSION:
The squirrel works hard in the withering heat all summer long, building and improving his house laying up supplies for the winter. The grasshopper thinks hes a fool, and laughs and dances and plays the summer away.
Come winter, the squirrel is warm and well fed.
A social worker finds the shivering grasshopper, calls a press conference and demands to know why the squirrel should be allowed to be warm and well fed while others less fortunate, like the grasshopper, are cold and starving.
The BBC shows up to provide live coverage of the shivering grasshopper; with cuts to a video of the squirrel in his comfortable warm home with a table laden with food.
The British press inform people that they should be ashamed that in a country of such wealth, this poor grasshopper is allowed to suffer so while others have plenty. The Labour Party, Greenpeace, Animal Rights and The Grasshopper Council of GB demonstrate in front of the squirrels house.
The BBC, interrupting a cultural festival from Notting Hill with breaking news, broadcasts a multi-cultural choir singing We Shall Overcome. Ken Livingstone rants in an interview with Trevor McDonald that the squirrel has gotten rich off the backs of the grasshoppers, and calls for an immediate tax hike on the squirrel to make him pay his fair share and increases the charge for squirrels to enter inner London.
In response to pressure from the media, the Government drafts the Economic Equity and Grasshopper Anti Discrimination Act, retroactive to the begining of summer. The squirrels taxes are reassessed. He is taken to court and fined for failing to hire grasshoppers as builders for the work he was doing on his home and an additional fine for contempt when he told the court the grasshopper did not want to work.
The grasshopper is provided with a council house, financial aid to furnish it and an account with a local taxi firm to ensure he can be socially mobile. The squrrels food is seized and re-distributed to the more needy members of society, in this case the grasshopper.
Without enough money to buy food, to pay the fine and his newly imposed retroactive taxes, the suqirrel has to downsize and start building a new home. The local authority takes over his old home and utilises it as a temporary home for asylum seeking cats who hijacked a plane to get to Britain as they had to share their country of origin with mice. On arrival they tried to blow up the airport because of Britains apparent love of dogs.
The cats had been arrested for the international offence of highjacking and attempted bombing but were immediatley released because the police fed them pilchards insted of salmon whilst in custody. Initial attempts to return them to their own country were abandoned because it was feared they would face death by the mice. The cats devise and start a scam to obtain money from peoples credit cards.
A Panorama special shows the grasshopper finishing up the last of the squirrels food, though Spring is still months away, while the council house he is in crumbles around him because he hasnt bothered to maintain the house. He is shown taking drugs. Inadequate goverment funding is blamed for the grasshoppers drug illness.
The cats seek recompense in the British courts for their treatment since arrival in the UK. The grasshopper gets arrested for stabbing an old dog during a burglary to get money for his drugs habit. He is imprisoned but released immediatly because he has been in custody for a few weeks. He is placed in the care of the probation service to monitor and supervise him. Within a few weeks he has killed a guinea pig in a botched robbery.
A commision of enquiry, that will eventually cost upwards of £10,000,000 and state the blindingly obvious, is set up. Additional money is put into funding a drug rehabiliation scheme for grasshoppers and legal aid for lawyers representing asylum seekers is increased. The asylum seeking cats are praised by the goverment for enriching Britains multicultural diversity and dogs are criticised by the government for failing to befriend cats.
The grasshopper dies of a drug overdose. the usual sections of the press blame it on the obvious failure of government to address the root cause of dispair arising from social inequity and his traumatic experience of prision. They call for the resignation of a minister.
The cats are paid a million pounds because their rights were infringed when the govenment failed to inform them there were mice in the United Kingdom.
The squirrel, the dogs and the victims of the highjacking, the bombing, the burglaries and robberies have to pay an additional pecentage on their credit cards to cover losses, their taxes are increased to pay for law and order, and they are told that they will have to work beyond 65 because of a shortfall in government funds.
THE END..... You know it makes sense!

Sadly, Geoff has been exposed as a visionary. And you know what happens with prophets who actually speak the truth...
They are usually made to shut up by the MOD or MI6 by any means possible

Awww thats sad... bought a tear to my eyes
I hope you guys wont start to hate me but as of yesterday Im a politician. :proud: Oficially.
Im running for the Chamber (House of Commons is the English equivalent I think) for a Flemish/Belgian party at our next elections (June 10th) and for those who are really curious: its Lijst Dedecker, a liberal party.
Not that I tender any hopes of getting elected mind you, the party is young (4 months), I have 10th place on the list for our elections district, and the field is overflowing with eager, richer and better-known contestants, but its a start.
I dont hate you Babeth, My dads the councillor for Nottingham and Ashfield :) Oh it is a right laugh.
Bex, Im working for a councillor at this very moment. :proud:
When i say councillor I mean politician councillor :P
Well done Babeth, serious respect for actualy doing something for the good of your community, rather than, as most people do, only sit and complain!
So, as a potential future member of the Belgian govenment, what are your views in the following?
Squirrel taxation, grasshopper equality and social inclusion, the increasing numbers of bogus feline asylum claims and last but not least, the continuing international war on state sponsored mice!
