The spike possibly, not sure how its attached, but could maybe make it removable easily. Maybe even a lifter?
I've never tried a HW electric lifter, but if the batteries can be moved back/modernised it might be a possibility.

well Cherub uses a 250w motor with a 500:1 ratio so its possible :)
