It will have to be during the breaks etc, as you can see in the fight format that was sent to everyone coming to Doncaster, there is no time really. Even with the 10 slots its going to be a real push. 12 Minutes per fight. - 3 minutes during the fight, leaving 8 mins to get robots in and out, and disarm, and recover from OOTA attacks - none stop for 2 hours its going to be a real push, but we proved we can do it during the 3rd and final show at Kings Lynn.
Only just managed to fit in enough white board battles to make it worth while for none competition robots to come. So sadly football however much it would be cool to see, will have to happen during the break on Sunday. maybe make a sort of competition out of it? etc.
Mr Stu
Well Ive gone and done it again, its really not my year.
I wont be at Doncaster I can safely say due to the fact Ive broken my knee cap.
Ouch is all i can say at this time of day as it bloody hurts my knee is the size of my head
my apologies to all particularly Pete and the mighty Shane Ill be in touch I have a transmitter for you
Calendar(local news for us yorkshire folk)have a whats on spot, usually on fridays,Iam sure if they are informed that-the robots are comming, they advertise the fact for free!,plus we might even get some cameras at the dome.
Just a note to all roboteers coming to Doncaster - Mike with the heavy weight robot Pressure is bringing a full working cool ant weight arena with pit and arena flipper. Not sure if it has polycarb cover, but even if it does, dont think too many people will want to fight against spinners as doncaster is more of a play and show for the crowd with the ant weights. (With Heavy Weights its going to get nasty :proud:)
So any teams coming with their heavy weight and/or feather weight - that have an ant weight, bring them along, there welcome. The arena will be put close to the public ish, behind a bar for safety, and max viewing area for the crowd to watch the little ants in action.
If you intend to bring an ant - drop us an email to events@roamingrobots.co.uk so we know how many ants are coming.

Nice, another thing to see while Im there. Will this be going on during the breaks, too?
During the breaks During the show. Problery to give somethnig for the crowd to watch while loading and unloading the main arena maybe.
During the shows.
Mr Stu
Problery? Somethnig?
Stu, how much have you had to drink today - and all before lunchtime too
Were now booked into the Travel Inn following problems with payment for the Lyntone and the owner being a Twat following that.
All weve got to do now is get the heavyweights fully mobile, cause scaring cubscouts with the featherweight is getting a little dull. :D
Who needs a FW when theyve got you? :proud:
Im staying at the Lyntone and I had no problems setting it up.
quote(With Heavy Weights its going to get nasty)/quote
What does that mean exactly? (heh)
Also, if the footy (cool!) is on during the break between the shows on Sunday, how do us spectators get to see it?
If I really wanted to fighten them I think I would call Mike...
See you all there tomorrow!
Good Luck to everyone in advance....
Have a nice trip over.

Ive had a really enjoyable day today at Doncaster. The crowd looked like 1000 people, and the organisation was slick. Ive never seen the robots turned around faster. The fights had lots of excitement and the sandwiches and tea kept me going. Thank you to everyone who organised it.
Jeremy
PS. I was also pleased that the new FRA constitution was accepted.
And , who has won the wintertour ?
Ive just got back from Doncaster and Id like to moan.... Id like to moan, cause deep down Im the moaning sort, but sadly I cant. :)
This event was brilliant, without doubt the best one I personally have ever attended. The organisation by the RR crew surpassed even their high standards, the cooperation from all the roboteers in getting their machines ready for each bout meant that the tight schedule was met and the crowds were equally magnificent.
The winning robots - Terrahurtz for the heavies and Blue for the feathers - deserved their victories, but to use an old clich, everyone who attended were winners.
Thanks again for a most enjoyable weekend.
So by the looks of things axes are the way to go :)
Ian
or better armour!
Jeremy
Yes cool sunday afternoon, its nice to see fighting and when a robots beat(broke down for what ever reason) that the other bot does stop :)
ps very nice DANCE ;)
It was a great event, tons of great battles, well done to Terrorhurtz and Blue. Chompalot, Ewe2 then finally Mute felt the sheer force of the 120psi max flowrate Terrorhurtz. Bits flying off chompalot, Ewe2s High pressure pipe work being ruptured venting all Ewe2s Co2, and fianlly against mute, damagined the tis bits of armour at the front, then finally smashing the top down which then popped the link.
Blue well done for winning all their fights out with with full points well done.
Big Thank you to all the roboteers for getting their robots ready and lined up on time. We managed to do a 11 fights in 2 hour, which was a fight every 11 minutes (minus the 3 minute fight time). Thats a great achievement in its self! Thanks again from all the Roaming Robots Crew.
Glad this ended the 2004 roboteering season on a big bang, 25 Heavy Weights, and 16 Featherweights (41 robots in total) from over 29 different teams.
Once again - big thank you from the Roaming Robots Crew, web site update due very soon, pictures and movie clips of the great finals due to follow very shortly after!
See you all in 2005!!

Hi Honey....Im home!
Had a great weekend - Good crowd too. Great to see everyone pulling together to get Chompy and Ewe2 together again and to see the China Dragon Team - it must have been an eye opener for them.
Whee, a cracking event that was. Lots of robots, lots of action and the continuity throughout was great. Terrorhurtz definitely stole the show with its awesome displays, and that 8-bot flipper fest was awesome too. Also a great performance from Ewe 2 in beating Storm 2, Big Nipper who was dumping robots OOTA and Blue for winning the feather title. (it was the paint job that did it really...) And although it sounds bizarre, the arena light failing actually improved the atmosphere IMO, as those portable floodlights were used instead. (call me what you will)
That sort of event is definitely the way to go in the future.
Only one thing to say, Fantastic. Cant wait to get back to it again next year and I hope that this tour will be repeated too (maybe one in a venue in the South West :))
Congrats to TerrorHurtz and Blue on winning and thanks to everyone who made the event such a good one.
Team Kronic
Most of it has already been said, but Ill say it again anyway.
We couldnt ask for a better end to the year and the winter tour. Everything went without a hitch and although THz stole the show every robot that fought him deserves a lot of credit, especially Chompalot for being the only robot to last an entire 3 minutes with THz and a special award for the most damage taken.
I really do hope that this format can be repeated next year, well done to Roaming robots, Gary & Crew, and all the roboteers for making this possible.
Great event, great venue, great fights, great end to the year.
Well done to THz and Blue
Amazing !!! I came home with RobotWars buzz!! It was just like being back at filming. Maybe it was because i had to spend so much time fixing the robots and there was loads of pressure on to get things ready..im not sure, it just felt great!
A Big Big thanks to Steve Johnson, Mike Lambert, the Big Nipper Team, and everyone else who helped get EWE2 back together after the THZ fight.
A big thanks to John Reid who has now given me an excuse to be in the garage all over the Xmas hols. ill be an expert welder by the time I get out!
Well done to everyone involved.
Ian
has anybody got some pic´s or vid´s already from Doncaster , can´t wait to see them .
Also congrats to TerrorHurtz and Blue on winning this wintertour and hope to see you all next year !
Respect to Jonno and all the crew for putting in all the time and effort to create such a great series. Many thanks.
Marco, videos and pictures coming soon on the Roaming Robots web site. Phantom filmed the event but no idea what the plans are in their department. But i think Dave Findlay and Paul Kendrick (PK) filmed most if not all the fights anyway. Movie Clips will be on the web site soon, and a possible VCD or DVD or something can be made of the Winter Tour.
Mr Stu
Hi everyone.. what a great event, shame that Pillow Torques battery connection came out in the first fight, we might have made the final. Congratulations to Blue for winning the feather weight final.
As usual THz was spectacular, and all his fights were brilliant. Thanks goes to everyone who helped put his victims back together again.
Well done to Jonno and the RR crew for a fantasic and well organised winter tour. Lets hope there are more events like this.
I know you´re gonna make a dvd of the complete wintertour . When it´s ready , it´s possible to order it from the rr-site ?
We really hanvt looked into it that far yet Marco. Everythings on the table to what to do Marco. Im sure if that happened the RR site would play an important part of a source for the DVD.
Mr Stu
What a show. A great event and some very great people. Even greater fights.
Dantomkia had its ass whipped by two good robots and drivers. Thz had a few fantastic fights and in the end the mad axe man did the job with style. What a fight! A truly worthy winner.
So many good things happened. Friendships cemented, robots fixed and battles fought. What more can we ask for from the last show of the year.
My thanks go to the RR crew for a great series of shows and to my fellow roboteers.
Mike.
Great event, had loads of fun. Alpha amazingly got to the final, might not bother building a new one! Well done to Blue and Terrorhurtz. Cheers to everybody who helped us putting the new tyre on (mike for lending us his rubber lubricant...why does he have that?:) ). Great event with some great battles, what a way to end the year.
Mmmm!
Rubber lubricant? Thats not the right attitude, you should be saying rubber lubrican.
(in vain attempt to steer this thread away from the gutter its in total danger of falling into)
:)
Best event I have been to so far, better atmosphere, better battles, Jonno and the crew seem to go from strengh to strengh, many thanks for all there efforts this year, and more of the same next year I hope.
What makes a great event?
We are new to robot fighting in Australia. It would be helpful to find all of the parts that go towards lifting an event from just OK to brilliant.
Is it the facilities or the scheduling or something else?
You can have the best organised event in the world but if the atmosphere is c**p in the audience you just end up entertaining yourselves. If the atmosphere is c**p in the pits then the spirit of competition and camaraderie is lost.
This event had the atmosphere in both - call it that something else. We also had the fact that it was the last show of the tour and the prizes were up for grabs.
Yes, its the venue.Yes, its the atmosphere. But it also the ability to go and have fun. If its fun for you then the audience pick up on it and enjoy themselves. The audience are who we are there for.
The winter tour worked because it was well organised and everyone made a effort to put on a show. The final event in Doncaster was excellent, the scheduling was tight and everyone did thier best to keep to it.
But as as previously said it is a number of factors, you need to have everyone working as a team, and that is not just the organisers.
