Pussycat Tribute Tournament 5
Virtually every idea has been done at least once, if not on the FRA forum, on the old Robot Wars Forum or on the old Panic Attack Forum. There is a finite number of weapons you can have on a robot, and we are getting near that number.
In terms of the Daniel vs. Martyn weapon stolen case, according to the good old history books of business, Daniel acted before Martyn, even though Martyn had the design on his computer, he didnt lets say patent it, and so Daniel comes along, probably knowing about Martyns design, but he posted it first and should get all the credit. (Well, looking at the woobler weapon itself, isnt truly new, because Chalkie 3G has an option for one to get under skirts, but thats not truly orginal)
The same happened with the old old crap circle of life with its loose ring to stop spinner attacks, but I forgot about it until revising the design.
So, the point of this post is...
...Eat Pie:)
Woo, 800th post

Pussycat Tribute Tournament 5
Hey Hey, Im Dazed and Confused, here is HHISTWT to replace one of my machines.
Name - HHISTWT
Shorten Name - Hey Hey
Shape - Low dome, spinning bar, crown top
Weapon - Simple spinning bar, angled downwards at the ends to hit those 8 cm robots, but the tips at their lowest point is 6 cm, the bar spins about 1300 rpm, and is geared to be torquy. The power source is an IC engine from a Flymo Lawnmower, giving 4.5 horsepower with high torque and bullet proof construction. I will give more details on the IC engine if needed. The only change to it, is the removable of the petrol tank to a more suitable location, and oil seals so it can run upside down if needed, and replacing the pull-start is an electric-start I nicked from a larger lawnmower. Direct drive with heavy-duty clutch to drop power if needed. The engine is sitting above the bar (like Amp)
Armour - It has a steel inner-ladder chassis framework, where everything inside the main dome is bolted/welded to. There are some lead-weights to counter-act the weight at the top to create a low centre of mass. The underside is 3mm steel. The dome is ABS plastic formed, with 3mm ABS plastic, with added wood ash into the mix before it set, creating a strongish shell, but not that strong. The bar itself weighs 22kg, with a 3 kg counter-balance in the centre to create a virtually uniform bar. The crown on top is designed to stop axes and crushers, and is lots of thin titanium strips layer on top of each other to make it very hard to break though. the advantage of this is the self-righter as well.
Ground Clearance - The bars lowest point is 5cm, so all around the robot is a 4 degree skirt, adding like a wedge. The skirt is removable for a standard 15 degree skirt, for those annoying machines. Under the main body is a good 9mm ground clearance.
Drive System - The robot is small and compact, because under that ABS shell, lies the drive system from Chalkie 3G, pushed together some more to create 8 wheel drive from 4 motors. This system gives a good speed and acceleration, but thanks to the small wheels, crap torque. Everything is cooled using a PC style cooling system.
Self-righter - The crown gives a roll-over shape and stops the robot from landing on its side. If the robot lands right onto its top, the crown crushes under the force after 5 seconds, and it rolls onto its side, where it should come back onto its wheels.
Velocity, Acceleration - 20 mph top speed, gets their within 2 metres.
Tyres - Sticky solid rubber tyres and steel wheels. Can run without rubber. There is one motor for two wheels, which are linked like a cars brake system, so if one motor goes it still has equal number of wheels moving on one side.
Weight - Dont Ask me about weight, I have no idea on what it will weigh.
Summary - Nothing New, Old-school technology, torque spinning bar. Based loosly on the American Amp in terms of its overall design. The Flymo lawnmower I stole the motor from never failed, and the engine restanded stone hit after stone hit. It runs at a higher power to turn the heavier bar. Its simple bread and butter.
Advantages - Torque from engine giving enough torque to the bar to keep spinning no-matter what it hits. Low centre of mass thanks to blocks of lead.
Disadvantages - Where should I start? - The horsepower from the engine is low, the drive system has low torque to push back, but high traction due to the grippy tyres. The body shell and crown are strong, but not that strong.
Hopefully Hey Hey is okay, I was bored during an exam and penciled a design on some extra-paper.
Pussycat Tribute Tournament 5
Id tell you, but then Alex would have to kill me. OK, hes probably planning on doing that anyway, but I see no reason to give him incentive to accelerate said plans.
Pussycat Tribute Tournament 5
A few things I forgot to say.
Hey Hey is replacing Wafty in the heavyweights.
Before Toni (:proud:) picks up a fuss about it being a semi-clone of Amp, I have ask permission from Paul^2 and he says I can use the basic idea of motor on top, spinning bit in middle, small and compact chassis.
and Frank drinks a lot of coffee :proud:
Pussycat Tribute Tournament 5
Y damnit!
Also, why should I give a care if its based off of amp? For the eitheenbajelienth time, im gone from ARC.
Pussycat Tribute Tournament 5
The Amp design is just a rip off of GreenWave, ICEWave(http://www.buildersdb.com/botpics/2391.jpghttp://www.buildersdb.com/botpics/2391.jpg) and Lumber Jack :proud:
So why ask for permission from someone else who already ripped the design :proud:
Pussycat Tribute Tournament 5
Im posting this for Steve for Aaron. Right.
Fragmentor
Motivation: 2WD
Speed: 15MPH
Weight: 100kg
Height: 200mm
Length: 650mm
Width: 750mm
Weapon: 15kg Flywheel powered by a Honda CR125 Motorbike motor. The CR125 motor produces 42.3BHP @ 11500rpm, it also has a HTI 220w 12v geared starter motor attached. The flywheel spins at 4500rpm producing 80Kj€™s of kinetic energy, plenty to dint and tear small pieces out of Hardox, rip holes in titanium and carve aluminium like paper. Spins up to full speed in under 3 secs, plenty of time to spin up between attacks.
Drive: 2 x Lemco 130 motors under volted at 24v to produce a zippy and moderately torque filled drive.
Batteries: 24v @ 6amp NiCD Packs
Armour: 4mm Hardox 400 on the sides/front/back, 8mm Titanium on the top and bottom and 15mm Polycarb internal bulk heads
Notes: Extra heavy mega duty shock proofing against it€™s own weapon. Uses a Gyro to stabilise the drive. Invertible.
Advantages: Fast drive, powerful weapon, moderate armour and well controlled
Disadvantages: Not a mega pushy bot, spins like Warhead when it hits an opponent.
Gyrate
Shape: Wedge with sloped sides, ala Wee Willy Wedgie
Motivation: 2 inner wheels
Speed: 50MPH
Weight: 100kg
Height: 250mm
Length: 550mm
Width: 650mm
Weapon: Static Wedge, a thwack tail on the end with a 5lb hammer
Drive: 2 x Eteks on 48v geared 4:1
Batteries: 160 x 3600mAh NiCD cells making 48v @ 12amps
Armour: 8mm Stainless Steel...... oooohhhhh Shiny!
Intensity
Motivation: Wheeled
Speed: Low gearing @ 12.889KMH(7.8MPH), High gearing @ 53.69KMH(33.55MPH)
Weight: 96.10kg
Height: 95mm
Length: 840mm
Width: 915mm
Ground Clearance: 8mm under body, 0mm all the way around due to Hardox skirting
Weapon: The weapon is based on the Team Whyachis Red Square which is a torque spring tensioned and suddenly released with a coupling to a flipping mechanism. The torque spring method used in Intensity is much more simpler and more reliable then the one used in Red Square. The mechanism is two S28-150 Magmotors @ 36v geared 100:1 through a single stage 3:1 spur gearing which is connected to a dual stage planetary gearbox which turns the final output helix spline shaft to retract and tension the spring. To lock the spring, a solinoid locking rachet has been built into the final stage of the planetary gearbox, which holds the spring tensioned till the solinoid is activated and releases the hold on the helix spline thread allowing it to unspool and fire the flipper. The torque is very heafty and with the flipping ratios will flip with a final force of 450kg, enough to send a 100kg robot head over heals quickly. The flipper takes 1.4 seconds to rectract and be ready for a second shot.
Drive: The drive consists of 8 Dustin motors. Each motor is over volted to 36v which produces 2.26HP per motor. Due to running the higher voltage, the motors have been current limited to 120amps which reduces the motors to 1.5HP each, producing a significant 12HP combined. The Dustin motors based upon the Dewalt Hammerdrills have a two speed gearbox, a low gearing of 51:1 which will make travel at a slow but high torque 12.88KMH(7.8MPH) which is enough torque to push the best of pushybots, in the high gearing of 11:1 will boost Intensity up to landspeed record of 53.69KMH(33.1MPH) with a loss in torque in pushing, but will still have the power to push most bots around running on basic Magmotor drives and Bosch setups.
Batteries: 8 x 18v 3600mAh NiCD Battlepacks producing 26v @ 14400mAh supply (Enough for 10mins of solid driving, plus weapon activation)
Monocoque (Chassis/Armour): The monocoque (chassis & armour combined) is a fully welded Hardox 500 5mm chassis (base plate is Hardox 450 3.2mm to maintain ground clearance). The top covers are bolted in using a series of 12 M14 bolts per top plate. This monocoque is designed to take a pound from the sides, above and even below! This is the heaviest part of the robot, due to the extreme strength and protection in the construction.
Electronics: Runs a RoboWars.org BMC speed controller with Hitec Focus SS-3 75mhz PCM 3ch Radio and a 3-axis computer Gyro for maxium control and handling. Uses 150amp rated Anderson power pole connectors and locking pins. Electronics are shock mounted and mounting in a floating style encased in HD (High Density) foam.
Notes: Can selfright via the torque spring flipper. Invertible!

Mass Disctruction Ultimate 3
Motivation: Wheels
Speed: 12MPH (480MPH Tip Speed)
Weight: 100kg
Height: 250mm
Diameter: 800mm
Weapon: The robot itself is the weapon. It uses its drive and a custom made micro processor system similar to that used in a fellow translational spinner called Cyclone Bot to translate itself around the arena creating a €œVortex of Destruction€Â. Using 9 Hardox €œenlightened€ teeth, it tears its opponent to pieces when the teeth collide at a sub-sonic speed of 480MPH. Causing certain death to the opponent.
Drive: 3 x Briggs & Stratton Eteks running on 60v. The motors are protected with a current limiting circuit and a thermal protection system which will ensure the motors don€™t over heat. The drive system uses a unique variable drive system with load sensing technology which enables the robot to start rotating with a high gear ratio preset at 5:1 giving the motors high torque low speed. As the robot gains rpm, which is constantly monitored via wheel rpm sensors, the gearing then adjust to suit the load of the motors and gain further speed allowing the gear ratio to lower from 10:1 to as low as 1:1 at top speed. The gear ratio can also over drive thrown the ratio 1:2 giving the robot nearly double the original top speed and allowing far more energy, but this is only used when the opponent is at a distance where it can easily be disposed of. Otherwise, the drive is left at 1:1 maximum.
MDU 3 sports an advanced drive control system to that of Cyclone Bot as it uses motor and wheel sensors to travel and translate in the most efficient possible way, minimising energy lose. The drive will adjust ratio to suit condition if it is loaded and will change if need to translate at the full 14MPH (6MPH up on the last version since the robot size has decreased for faster movement, quicker spin up times and thicker armour). Spin up time is minimal and varies between 0.5sec spin up and 1sec when the system is suffering from battery voltage drop. At a mere 1/7th of its full RPM, this robot will be dangerous. 500rpm will have enough energy to throw robots out the road and allow it to continue it quest for domination. If people start ganging up on it (Everyone will, I know), the drive system will be locked down into 500rpm mode allowing the drive to have nearly maximum potential torque yields and it will force the opponents away till it can then safely power back up to full speed and deliver the force of the €œVortex of Destruction€Â. To ensure endurance during combat, everything has been shock mounted for maximum protection.
Batteries: 250 x 3600mAh NiCD cells producing 60v @ 18amps. The packs are protected by a system like the drive which give both current and temperature protection. The packs are re-enforced between the cells with Polypropylene cell holders and will prevent them from breaking during the impacts.
Armour: 4mm Hardox 500 with stainless steel welding built in a monocoque design with triangle shape and inner supportive bulkheads. 10mm Polycarbonate on the top to save weight due to the upgrade to Etek motors and higher voltage
Notes: Invertible. Soon to be your worst nightmare. All within your precious 100kg weight limit. Approche Avec prudence.

Motivation: Wheeled
Speed: 18.84KMH (11.775MPH)
Weight: 91.39kg
Height: 248mm
Length: 523mm
Width: 1040mm

Weapon: The weapon is a 24.61 kg, 580mm (From tooth tip to tooth tip) diameter flywheel mounted on a 20 degree angle. The flywheel is powered by a 6.8kg 125cc 5.3Kw (7.06HP) Husqvana chainsaw with modified Astroflight electric starter motor. The chainsaw has a peak RPM off 8500rpm and is geared 3.4:1 with a kevlar innerbound belt drive to produce a flywheel speed of 2500rpm. The chainsaw has a centrifugal clutch that prevents the flywheel from spinning at idle and prevents the chainsaw from stalling by cutting out at 500-600rpm. The weapon has a tip speed of 273.14Km/h while producing around 32Kjs of Kinetic Energy. The teeth are based on a shark tooth design where a inner concave to cut though metal much quicker and easier. The teeth are CNC machine blocks of Hardox 650 Wareplating to maintain a near perfect cutting edge.
Drive: The drive is a pair of S28-400 Magmotors coupled to a pair of 8:1 aluminium planetary gearbox which gives a final output speed of 500rpm at the drive shaft. The wheels are 200mm (8inch) Colson wheels with 3.25 mm Hardox 450 protection plates and 8mm thick Grade 5 Titanium/Vandium domes with tip spikes. The wheels are mounted on 40mm hollow, 5mm wall Stainless Steel shafts for maximum strength.

Length: 500mm
Width: 1500mm
Weapon: The weapon is the focus on the robots upgrade. The 45kg spinner bar/hoop combo is powered by two Honda CR125 Motorbike motors. The CR125 motor produces 42.3BHP @ 11500rpm, and only weights 14.8kg each. The motors have a pair of electric starts mounted on them. The weapon rotates at a crazy 4500rpm, via a variable belt drive that changes ratios from 10:1 through to the final 2.5:1 ratio. The variable belt drive works by the expansion of one pullie (Motor end) and the contraction of the other (Weapon end) This is done via torque springs mounted on the adjustable pullies and forces them to change size when the load changes. Commonly found on 6WD amphibious ATV€™s.
Drive: 4 x LEM 130€™s on 24v geared 10:1
Batteries:
Armour: Can you say 15mm Poly-Propylene?
Notes: The weapon is devastating. The power is phenomenal. The noise is incredible! The bot is not invertible€¦ Flip and gone€¦€¦ But you have got to get close to it to flip it!
