You see I wouldnt be THAT bothered if you were merely ignorant, then there'd be room for improvement, but you clearly knew you were ripping off robots before didnt you?
Mmm, I love the smell of ripe contradiction in the morning :lol:Quote:
why mentioning the fact that these look like Kody Kunz-bots?
I am willing to admit however, that the two-sided slotted drum was inspired by Laertes: nothing more.
EDIT: Scratch that. I'll retire Destructophobic early. If Kody's original design didn't work out, then this one won't.
Okay, I admit it... Destructophobic was an attempt to bring back one of Kody's oldest bots. It looked like a good idea, but not anymore
Damn, it just became afternoon as I typed that :lame:
Okay Kody, I retired them, but I did keep their stats. (Note: the only two bots were Wishbone and Destructophobic)
But either ways, I need at least 8 bots for a tourney, so I'm gonna need to refurbish these:

I have a totally new concept I'd like you to help me refine: MY FIRST SHUFFLER!!!
Me Name is Death
Weight: 150kg
Shape: An unrefined wedge, similar to the Italian robot Mastiff.
Colour: The bare metal, plus ME NAME IS DEATH written on the wedge.
Dimensions: 110cm x 50cm x 50cm
Drive: 4x 36v LEM-130s, powered by 10x A123 Battlepacks.
Locomotion: 4x Drillzilla-style shuffling pads, giving the robot a good top speed, and high pushing power.
Armour: 4.5mm Hardox
Speed: 25mph
Ground Clearance: 0mm at front due to wedge, 0mm at sides and back due to skirts, 9mm without skirts.
Turning Circle: 0m
Weapon: A front-hinged flipper, powered by a 1.5kg Nitrogen tank at 400psi. Yes, this is a low-pressure flipper, but it can flip at least 200kg, enough to flip any competitor. It has about 25-30 flips, give or take the weight of the enemy.
Srimech: The flipper. it can't get stuck on its back or sides because the skirts will make the robot's flipper at least partially contact the floor.
Strengths: Fast, and uses the weight advantage of shufflers.
Weaknesses: Untested.
And I guess silence means that the robot is okay...
Well, since I need a new robot to replace Roveress Evo, I might as well make a new one:
Wishbone 2
Weight: 100kg
Shape: A wide, rather then long, rectangle.
Colour: Gold on the top and bottom, with silver at the front, back, and sides.
Dimensions: 30cm x 90cm x 25cm
Drive: 2 36v LEM-170 motors, powered by 8x A123 Battlepacks.
Locomotion: 2 aluminum wheels with vulkanized rubber tyres and aluminum boron carbide hubcaps.
Armour: 4mm hardox monocoque.
Speed: 19mph
Ground Clearance: 0mm at front due to Special weapon, 5mm at back and sides.
Turning Circle: 0m
Weapons: There are 2 Overkill-shaped titanium wedges at the front: 1 in a normal position, and 1 inverted to where the inclined faces the inclined end of the other wedge. The plan is: a flipper will get stuck in between the 2 wedges, he will try to fire the flipper to get out, but the flipper will jam and he can't get out, allowing me to relatively easily control the match and the opposing robot. There's also a small 2kg Pussycat style blade at the rear, powered by a 24v S28-150 Magmotor, it spins at 1000rpm, and can scratch most thicknesses of titanium.
Srimech: Invertible
Strengths: An average 26hp of pushing power.
Weaknesses: Can easily be flipped, might not be able to catch flippers and wedges in its twin wedges.
You have the problem there that your weapon relies on people firing their flippers, knowing that their flipper will get stuck...if they know that's how it works, they're not going to fire them :P
Not really, It'll work without them firing the flipper, and it works for basic and advanced wedges as well.
Killophobic (Destructophobic 2)
Weight: 100kg
Shape: Lightning (S7)
Colour: Gold. The flipper is dark blue.
Dimensions: 90cm x 80cm x 35cm
Drive: 2 24v S28-400 Magmotors powered by 7x NiCad Battlepacks.
Locomotion: 2 foam-filled wheels.
Armour: 3.5mm hardox monocoque
Speed: 22mph
Ground Clearance: 0mm at front, 0mm at back due to torsion-sprung titanium skirt(4.5mm without skirts), and 4.5mm at sides.
Turning Circle: 0m
Weapons: A rear-hinged flipper, powered by a 1.5kg 750psi Co2 tank. It can flip robots up to 1000kg. The robot also has a very small 20cm diameter Pussycat-style blade at the rear, powered by a 24v S28-1540 Magmotor. The blade spins at 1000rpm, and can do a bunch of damage to aluminum and weak titanium.
Srimech: The flipper.
Strengths: Good weapon, excellent body shape, strong armor, extra rear weapon.
Weaknesses: Could be annihilated due to controversy.

...both these blades seem to be the same and yet have different capabilities? :S
Good point. The revised stats:
Killophobic (Destructophobic 2)
Weight: 100kg
Shape: Lightning (S7)
Colour: Gold. The flipper is dark blue.
Dimensions: 90cm x 80cm x 35cm
Drive: 2 24v S28-400 Magmotors powered by 7x NiCad Battlepacks.
Locomotion: 2 foam-filled wheels.
Armour: 3.5mm hardox monocoque
Speed: 22mph
Ground Clearance: 0mm at front, 0mm at back due to torsion-sprung titanium skirt(4.5mm without skirts), and 4.5mm at sides.
Turning Circle: 0m
Weapons: A rear-hinged flipper, powered by a 1.75kg 750psi Co2 tank. It can flip robots up to 1000kg. There's also a small 2kg 20cm-diameter Pussycat style blade at the rear, powered by a 24v S28-150 Magmotor, it spins at 1000rpm, can cut aluminum, and can scratch most thicknesses of titanium.
Srimech: The flipper.
Strengths: Good weapon, excellent body shape, strong armor, extra rear weapon.
Weaknesses: Could be annihilated due to controversy.

I'd also like you to take a look at Minesweeper again.
Minesweeper
Weight: 100kg
Shape: Tornado (S6)
Colour: Silver, with MINESWEEPER written on the sides in red.
Dimensions: 90cm x 85cm x 25cm
Drive: 2x 36v LEM-130 motors, powered by 6x NiCad Battlepacks. The motors power the 2 middle wheels.
Locomotion: 6 Titanium/Vanadium alloy wheels with Vulkanized rubber tyres.
Armour: 6mm hardox monocoque
Speed: 20mph
Ground Clearance: 0mm at front and back due to scoops, and 5mm at sides.
Turning Circle: 0m
Weapon: 2 Hardox snowplow-like scoops that can move slightly vertically, like Behemoth's, so I get good pushing power, but 0mm ground clearance at front and back.
Srimech: Invertible
Strengths: Super-reliable and fast. Now more maneuverable and with tougher armor.
Weaknesses: Not too much of an offensive weapon.
Notice: When I get no reply, it makes me think that there's nothing wrong with them.
Remove any references to Destructophobic. Now. Despite me retiring it, it remains mine and I do not want anyone taking it/referencing it for themselves. You can still use the Killphobic name, but no referencing my retired robot, k?
Okay. Do you see anything wrong with them?
I€™m afraid this isn€™t the right way to go about things, Mark. I€™m sure others have explained already that this is a very busy time of the year for most of us. We will tell you whether your designs are okay or not. Please do not just presume. Most of us have much more important things to do than review your vapourbots. If one of us gets time, we€™ll review them for you. They€™re only right when one of us tells you they€™re right.Quote:
Notice: When I get no reply, it makes me think that there's nothing wrong with them.
Killophobic
As Kody said, please remove the references to Destructophobic.
The shape needs expanding on quite a lot. I could quite easily assume that you mean a lightning bolt. You either need to describe the shape in your stats or post a picture or video of the robot you are comparing it to. There are users of this forum who may have never seen the robot Lightning. The more information you put in your stats, the greater the chance of a writer fully understanding your vapourbot.
You could possibly give a bit more information about the wheels. Provide some rough dimensions and tell us about the materials used for the hub and the tyre. Then we can understand the durability of the wheels if it were to come in contact with a vapourbot such as May Tracks or Spin Dash.
I would suggest lowering the speed slightly. Correct me if I€™m wrong, but I believe two wheel drive robots would be very hard to control at that speed. Indeed, any robot would be hard to control at that speed. Tornado was less than half the speed Killophobic is currently. A slower robot generally means a more controlled robot.
I€™d probably increase the ground clearance a bit. Possibly even double it. The higher the ground clearance, the easier you should be able to drive.
Your flipper bottle doesn€™t have a very high capacity. The flipper experts should be able to help you out on this one, but I believe standard bottles are 2.2kgs? A couple of years ago you wouldn€™t have needed this, but now you should really provide at least some rough details about your flipper ram(s). Especially since you claim a flipping force of 1000kgs. How did you work this out? There is a website where you can calculate this, which I imagine you would be able to find in the Beginners Guide to Vapourbots thread.
I assume your saw blade is vertical? If so, it might cause you a few issues self-righting. You can cut Aluminium and scratch Titanium (apparently) but what about Hardox? Most vapourbots are armoured in this, and so you might need something a little more potent.
In terms of self-righting, what happens if you land on your sides, for example. Try and cover as many possibilities so that you don€™t get screwed over. If you don€™t say you can self-right from your sides, you probably won€™t.
€œCould be annihilated due to controversy€ - is there any point to this comment?
I have expressed my dislike for weaknesses before, and would personally suggest that you remove them. If you have any intention of winning a vapourbot battle, you won€™t tell your opponent how to beat you. This is up to you though.
This vapourbot isn€™t too bad really. It just lacks a few finer details, and hopefully my comments will point you in the right direction. But please think about my suggestions and take them into consideration. Don€™t rush some new stats together in 5 minutes time along with another two brand new designs. I€™ll have a look at Wishbone 2 and/or Minesweeper later on if I have the time. I hope this is helpful to you.
Killophobic
Weight: 100kg
Shape: Lightning (S7)
http://www.youtube.com/v/WBqh_db8hng&hl=en&fs=1
Colour: Gold. The flipper is dark blue.
Dimensions: 90cm x 80cm x 35cm
Drive: 2 24v S28-400 Magmotors powered by 7x NiCad Battlepacks.
Locomotion: 2 foam-filled urethane rubber wheels with aluminum boron carbide hubs.
Armour: 3.5mm hardox monocoque
Speed: 20mph
Ground Clearance: 0mm at front due to shape, 0mm at back due to torsion-sprung titanium skirt (7mm without skirts), and 7mm at sides.
Turning Circle: 0m
Weapons: A rear-hinged flipper, powered by a 2.2kg 750psi Co2 tank. It can flip robots up to 1000kg using a 70mm bore 300mm stroke ram. There's also a small 2kg 20cm-diameter vertical Pussycat style blade at the rear, powered by a 24v S28-150 Magmotor, it spins at 1000rpm, can cut aluminum, and can scratch most thicknesses of titanium and 3.25mm Hardox.
Srimech: The flipper. If it lands on its side, the rather interesting shape will allow it to fall onto its flipper.
Strengths: Good weapon, excellent body shape, strong armor, extra rear weapon.
Weaknesses: Controversy. Nah, there never was any controversy.
New bot to replace TVW:
Bandwagon
Weight: 100kg
Shape: A quite complex box-wedge. The box shape itself is angled 10 degrees towards the wedge, which itself is angled at 45 degrees. The entire shape's edges are rounded to protect against spinners, while the back is rounded to prevent stranding.
Colour: Chrome. The flipper is red, while the skirts are blue.
Dimensions: 100cm x 80cm x 30cm
Drive: 2x 36v LEM-170 motors, powered by 8x A123 Battlepacks, giving me an average of about 26hp.
Locomotion: 4 solid rubber wheels with Aluminum Boron Carbide hubs.
Armour: 5mm Titanium/Vanadium alloy, with 7.5mm of Vulkanized rubber on top.
Speed: 20mph
Ground Clearance: 0mm at front due to shape, 0mm at sides and back due to 5mm titanium torsion-sprung skirts. 5mm without skirts.
Turning Circle: 0m
Weapons: A powerful rear-hinged flipper, powered by a 1000pi 2.5kg nitrogen tank, and utilizing 2 70mm bore 300mm stroke rams to power the flipper. The flipper can flip up to 500kg about half a meter into the air.
Srimech: The flipper.
Strengths: Jumping on the bandwagon. Not telling you which one, though. :P
Weaknesses: It can only flip, and move at 20mph. Not much else.
Being in the middle of writing intros for a Chevron Championship heat that contains an inordinate amount of box wedges, I think I can guess which one :P
Just because I can ask, which one?
Hey guys, at long last I make a new vapour€¦
Name: ooh! Im dizzy€¦or O.I.D for short lol
Shape: an equilateral triangle, with what would be the pointed bit as the front.
Weight: 100kgs
Drive: 2x Lem130€™s, powered by 5x NiCad Battlepacks.
Armor: 5mm hardox all around, but at the back there is a 7mm hinged hardox wedge.
Locomotion: 2 Vulkalon coated wheels
Weaponry: the best bit! It has a nasty 20kg horizontal spinning disk, sunk slightly inside the robot, made out of 8mm hardox with 6mm teeth, its powered by a LEM-130 Lynch spinning at 4000RPM.
Dimensions: 99x90x33
Scrimec: it is invertable
Strenghs: strong, tough, destructive
Weakness: untested in battle
What do you think?
Jack
ok revised stats

Okay... This is my first time reviewing anything without messing up.Quote:

erm...its hinged so if i get flipped it flaps down so its level with the ground again (it does say a HINGED wedge in the stats).

Oh... And I forgot: You didn't post the bot's ground clearance.
its 7mm at the sides and back, and 5mm at the front.
so...

Now that look right! A bit of spell-check could help, and the robot probably won't win a tourney its first time out, but it looks fine now.
A new robot to replace Side Swipe, who has clearly survived too long...
Tank
Weight: 100kg
Shape: King B Powerworks
Colour: Green and brown Camouflage
Dimensions: 100cm x 75cm x 20cm
Drive: 4x 24v S28-400 Magmotors, powered by 6x NiCad Battlepacks.
Locomotion: 4 solid rubber wheels, with aluminum boron carbide hubs.
Armour: 15mm Polycarbonate
Speed: 25mph
Ground Clearance: 0mm at front due to spikes, 20mm at back, and 5mm at sides.
Turning Circle: 0m
Weapons: At the front, there's a 3-pronged lifting spike at the front. It scrapes the arena floor, making it 0mm at the front. At the rear, there's a large 8kg horizontally-mounted circular saw powered by a standard 24v S28-150 Magmotor. The blade spins at 1000rpm, and produces massive amounts of sparks.
Srimech: It is invertible.
Strengths: It looks cool.
Weaknesses: Weak armor.
A few things to note:
1) The name Tank is taken by Alex MacWillaims' HW vapourbot.
2) 25mph is not needed; it will prove too hard to control
3) polycarb is any thickness isn't really strong armour, you might want to switch to something stronger...
4) why do you put strengths and weaknesses? it is not a good idea to put them there in the first place (as I have learned)
5) What powers the front lifter? what's it made of? what's the saw made of?
6) Simply stating a robot to go by the shape is not a good idea, as you have been told countless times. Some people may not have seen King B Powerworks before... :P
Apart from that, it's fine. :proud:
Modifying it...

I put them there to state the obvious. Plus it makes the stats more Robot Wars-esque.
But I did mess something up...

I quite agree with this part of AJ's post. Though it is up to you, it's rather bad to have in your stats, no matter what people may have said about Robot Wars.Quote:

The writer should decide how you lose.
For instance, if you give strengths and weaknesses for bots that you enter in my tournaments, I will delete said strengths/weaknesses from the stats I save to use in the tournament. In my tourneys, I decide how you win or lose, not you.
I think I am with Mark on this one.
I always put my strengths and weaknesses in my stats because I acknowledge that every desings has it's pro's and con's. Besides if you can see your opponent in real life you would know what those weaknesses are and act upon it, that is a luxury you don't have in vapourboting.
Just as an example:
SPLINTER EVO
Weight: 100kg
Power: 2 750w motors
Weapon: Axe and clamp
Strength: Grabs and won't let go
Weakness: None
If you see the robot in real life, you would see that its weakness is being flipped. Therefore we should keep weaknesses, because they as close as we can get to seeing the other person's bot and noticing their weaknesses.
...well...the stats for a Splinter like robot in fanfic would be much more detailed than that, and would include details of srimech or lack thereof among other things.
Careful study of a robot's stats should tell you where its strengths and weaknesses lie, you shouldn't have to state them seperately. I once did but now don't bother :P
Um... those were supposed to be the stats of Splinter in Series 5...
While studying the stats is important, it's still easier for me to just look at the weaknesses and try and develop a strategy.
...that's why I don't give you any real weaknesses to work with?Quote:
