Re: A special Robot Wars Fan Fiction Anniversary
Alright, time for more in-depth tactics:
This time, I'll use the anti-crusher frame(minus that lawnmower blade, as I don't need it and it adds weight) not as something to block Typhoon's attacks, but as something to use as a weapon. My plan is to wait for him to fully spin up, then rush forward and hit him with the high-mounted frame. That should hit him somewhere above the teeth, but still on the spinning shell. The resulting gyroscopic forces should either flip him over or trap him in the frame. If he's flipped over, let the Refbot count him out, but if he's trapped in the frame, immediately press the pit release button and shove him into the pit. I cannot risk him damaging me, as that could be the end of my winning streak.
Re: A special Robot Wars Fan Fiction Anniversary
hmmm marks plan has some substance, however i can see some flaws, and will pick up on that. :proud:
i will drive off at activate, then spin up, dont let tornado get to the pit, theres not really a chance i can pit him cos of his frame...however, if i can break the frame, that shouldnt be a problem XD
to be honest, i doubt the gyroscopic forces will flip me over, and how would i get stuck in the frame??? even so, mabey be on the side of caution and not go o.t.t with speed
once up a respectable speed, let him come to me, im happy to sit and wait, homefully i should nock some stuff loose, or i should defo do something to the drive train. that was always tornados achiles heal XD
just keep smashin and bashin till somthing judders loose in him :) avoid the pit and other hazards :)
good luck mark

Re: A special Robot Wars Fan Fiction Anniversary
At least Surgeon General lasted the fight. :proud:
Typhoon 2 vs. Tornado
I actually see Tornado winning this. If Surgeon General couldn't do it... :P
Firestorm V vs. Macduff the 4th
lol being the only non-realie left :P
Firestorm's a proven robot, so he'll be pretty tricky. I'll have the usual forks on for this fight. Simply put, they'll get under him no matter how he tries to come at them. He'll obviously run for the sides/rear, in which I'll keep turning to point the forks at him. If he gets under, drive off; his huge wedge is extremely flat so I should be able to easily do that, even at any angle. If I get under him, take to a house robot that can damage him. He has a high ground clearance which can help him drive away if I try and take him to the pit. If Matilda's in there, send him to her. Stay away from the pit, and prevent Firestorm from getting to the pit release button if possible. :P
Good luck whoever's controlling Firestorm. :P
Re: A special Robot Wars Fan Fiction Anniversary
One problem with your plan, Jack: You won't be able to hit me, because my frame will hit you at least 10cm above your teeth.
The reason it'll knock him over is because the force of him spinning will be tilted at an angle, and those teeth'll dig into the floor, pulling him across the arena and onto its head.
Re: A special Robot Wars Fan Fiction Anniversary
IIRC, that's never happened to a FBS/ring spinner. :P
If you could support your theory with a video of this or a really detailed description of the physics involves, then I'd be somewhat inclined to believe you. :P
Re: A special Robot Wars Fan Fiction Anniversary
I guess you're right...
But anyways, he still can't hit me, because his teeth won't hit the frame due to the frame being higher up then the teeth.
Re: A special Robot Wars Fan Fiction Anniversary
thats true but...
the teeth come out more than the lid, and due to the fact ud be hitting me ABOVE the teeth (the lid is gradualy receding to a point btw, it would take more time to hit the lid than hit the teeth) i should be able to hit u underneath your frame b4 u hit my lid, seeing as my teeth go under the frame :D i should be able to hit the robot and not the frame....if u get what i mean XD

Re: A special Robot Wars Fan Fiction Anniversary
Is everyone else OK with Tornado using the anti-Razer weapon? It wouldn't be against the rules, would it?
Re: A special Robot Wars Fan Fiction Anniversary
Welcome to Robot Wars! It's the grand final, and four robots will be fighting to get their hands on the crown. But before that, lets see how our finalists got this far!
HEAT A
Typhoon II, the reigning champions, didn't do too well in their first battle against Terrorhurtz, narrowly scraping through after Terrorhurtz was immobolised. In the heat final, they showed no mercy against Liar II and went into the Grand Final once again!
HEAT B
X-Terminator, the number 3 seed, ripped Gravity apart in the first round, winning on a judges decision. But newcomer Macduff the 4th flipped them over in the heat final, where they were pitted by Growler. Macduff the 4th, considered to be the one to watch.
HEAT C
Number 4 seed Firestorm V blazed its way into the Grand Final by flipping Crooked Evo and Traffic Warden into submisson. They won the heat final, throwing Traffic Warden into the pit. Can Firestorm V get its hands on the title this time?
HEAT D
The final heat saw number 2 seed Tornado breeze past OID, pushing them into the pit before a tight battle with Surgeon General. The judges gave it to Tornado. This is their third time in a grand final. Can they win it again?
And here are the lineups
Typhoon II VS Tornado
Firestorm V VS Macduff the 4th
See you later for the first fight
Also, I still need advice on the use of Tornado's ACW. If no-one replies, I'll assume no-one has a problem with it and will continue the fight with Tornado using the ACW :)
Re: A special Robot Wars Fan Fiction Anniversary
hmmm well i may be slightly biast XD but the fact that i cant pit it is a bit of an arse XD
