The Norman Sheppard Tribute Tournament
HEAT O
ROUND 1
1) Achilles (23) VS Rogue VS Starstorm 2
I can see Rogue suffering a pitting here.
2) Flipping Hell (10) VS GeForce VS Ze Newie
A real toughie here. I can see Tom getting through OK, so one of the flippers. Could be GeForce to go here
Good stuff as ever and as for we all know Frank is Jesus in disguise...I KNEW it! :proud:

The Norman Sheppard Tribute Tournament
Achilles (23) vs. Rogue vs. Starstorm 2
Possibly Rogue to go here, or maybe Starstorm. Achilles should be safe whatever though.
Flipping Hell (10) vs. GeForce vs. Ze Newie
I think I out torque both these robots, which should go in my favour. Ill spend the first minute or so just using the wedge to ram the other two around. Then Ill start using the flipper hopefully meaning I have more gas to last out the fight and send them flying.
The main tactic will be to flip Flipping Hell over. I think Im right in saying that its flipper does not work because CO2 doesnt go 1000psi. Correct me if Im wrong.
-
The Norman Sheppard Tribute Tournament
Above 750 psi-ish co2 changes to liquid. Many realies I think store their co2 at 1000 psi.

TKO = Technical Knock-Out
I think it means that if the robot was freed from the pit/side wall/camera track it will still be able to run.
-
The Norman Sheppard Tribute Tournament
whichever has the highest ground clearance will be my main target, and Ill try and get under, and push them to the wall to make sure they go out (even though it can flip from the center of the ring)

The Norman Sheppard Tribute Tournament
Only 2 places remain in the semi finals, those 2 places are being attacked by 12 robots who want to smell the blood and guts of the competitors by ripping out their souls, 10 robots must die, no-body wants to be one of the 10 robots, everybody wants to rule the world, one stage at a time, destroying all competition with excessive drive power, kinetic energy based weapons to rip out the hopes and dreams, flippers to send many of a roboteers€™ dream into the air with all the hot gas and smoke belong. 1 robot will come out on top in this heat of 6 robots.

The Norman Sheppard Tribute Tournament,
Fight against Robots Season 9,
Heat O
Round 1
Firstly, I must say sorry for any feelings I will break in this fight, my life is falling apart at the sides, the years of lies have come back to haunt me, and so I€™m feeling emotionally drained and physically tired.
Melee 1
Achilles (23) vs. Rogue vs. Starstorm 2
From Northampton, England, and the 23rd seed, Achilles. Entered by Alex, who let€™s be honest has had a crap season so far with all his robots crashing out before the heat final returns with his last machine. Season 6 champion of NSBFL, still unchanged, with it€™s hydraulic/pneumatic lifter and grabber to crash and grab to control it€™s fights. I€™m thinking Alex is using the co2 in this fight because when in melees it can€™t control the fight as well. Good acceleration from the 4 wheel drive to a top speed of 18 mph. It has a low ground clearance all over the robot to stop robots flipping it sky high. However if the fight goes to a judge€™s decision, it has no damaging weapons.
In Far 8: Reached heat final by seeing off Walzer 4 & Ankle Biter before being flipped against the wall and positioned so that it can€™t self-right by Die Ceratops Invertus.
From Somewhere in Australia, Rogue. Entered by Team Aussie, as their first robot in this heat. Aaron has sent a lot of time on designing his front flywheel to be as evil as possible, and gone into so much detail that it is scarring any newcomers away, why can€™t people keep things as simple as possible? Front spinner, 4WD, simple theory, complex stats. However the speed is good, but if flipped it takes some time getting back to it€™s feet, and in a heat of mainly flippers, this could be the weak link in Rogue€™s quest for glory.
In far 8: Didn€™t enter
From Gainsborough, Home of Coffee, England. Starstorm 2. Entered by Frank, you know him, everybody knows Frank, because he is a legend. Raise your glasses to the legend, with his full bodied flipper. Watch out for that dome, because all of it fires upwards. Moving skirts help Starstorm stay rooted, as Frank has created one of the hardest robots to get underneath. However OOTA€™s may be unlikely with it€™s flipping upwards movement, but what comes up, comes down at the same speed, so I€™m opening up a €œRepair the arena floor€ fund when lots of dents appear.
In Far 8: Franky didn€™t enter with this robot.
All 3 robots are in the arena, the starting squares have been re-gripped with new sand based paint for that added traction off the line. The door is closed, as the countdown starts:

Active
And there is a million years between my fantasies and fears, I feel love. All 3 robots are clean away out of the starting square, as Rogue has it€™s spinning weapon up to speed, as Aaron is aiming for some robotic skins to rip off, as Achilles comes storming into Rogue, and Starstorm is behind Achilles to box-rush Rogue, as Achilles fires it€™s flipper in the nick of time, deflecting the blow from the disc, as Starstorm, lowering the front skirt rams straight into Rogue.
Frank wastes no time and fires Rogue up to into the sky, as it does a roll, crashing into the arena wall, and coming down to earth. Alex and Frank has moved their two robots, right to the other end of the arena, as Rogue crashes down, and rolls back onto it€™s wheels. Aaron presses the restart button, as Rogue moves forward with it€™s spinner going strong again, undamaged from the launch. Achilles and Starstorm are off after Rogue once more, as Alex is trying to get around the rear end.
Aaron tries to dodge the attacks, but even the best driver in the world can€™t survive a 2 on 1 team-up dual attack, as he turns, hitting into the lower skirt of Starstorm, spinning it around, but Achilles is under the rear and has clamped down. Achilles fires the flipper, sending Rogue into a forward roll, as it comes to a rest on it€™s top, as it self-rights.
Starstorm storms into play and Achilles runs away to open the pit release button, as Frank is lining up for the pitting. The flipper fires, taking everybody by surprised, as Rogue goes up into the sky. Where will it land? No-body knows, as it€™s coming down to earth, and straight down the pit. The impact sends some of the tyres up. The smoke is rising.

Starstorm and Achilles (23), wins via TKO over Rogue in 1.02
Melee 2
Flipping Hell (10) vs. GeForce vs. Ze Newie
From Oxford, England, and 10th seed. Flipping Hell. Entered by Dave Weston, this very underrated robot comes to the war with a very powerful flipper, powered by co2 at high pressure with 2 high pressure rams. 4 wheel drive comes as standard, with a razor style drive system. The armour is decent for a flipper, however if it tries to self-right it has a habit of knocking itself out with the power. How will the LOTR runner up deal with the increased competition?
In Far 8: Beat King Cholera 2 with ease, then Tornado, then Blink and Die. However in round 4, it met Tempest Eviloution€¦ enough said.
From Somewhere in England, GeForce. Entered by that very nice Andrew Jackson, this ultra-flipper is powered by nitrogen at 1000 psi. However if it mis-fires, then it will roll itself over, where the power of the flipper plays against it, as it does a 540 degree flip to self-right. However it is the best turning in this melee with 2WD, and has the most powerful weapon. GeForce uses the most common motor available for vapourbots, the Lem 130.
In far 8: didn€™t enter
From Australia, Ze Newie. Entered by Team Aussie, as Tom Roper€™s robot. This heavy handed pusher has the best torque of the competition, and high traction from the wheels. However the ground clearance is high around the sides, so it could be goodbye major tom. The biohazard style co2 lifter at the front is the self-righter, as Ze Newie€™s armour can take hit after hit after hit, with a mixture of titanium, Hardox and Vanadium.
In far 8; didn€™t enter.
All 3 robots are in the arena, for the 2nd melee of the evening. Heavyweights in flight, an afternoon€™s delight.

COMMENCE
Ze Newie is the first out of the square, as GeForce is 2nd out. Flipping Hell is the last out, as all 3 robots meet in the centre of the arena for some fun and dancing. Ze Newie rams into the side of Flipping Hell, as it flips GeForce over. Andy self-rights to see Flipping Hell being slammed into the arena wall by Ze Newie.
GeForce comes up behind Ze Newie, and wedging both Flipping hell and Ze Newie up on it€™s wedge, flips both of them over the wall.
Cease
Okay, both Ze Newie and Flipping Hell were out at the same time, so it€™s a knockout between these two robots to determine who joins GeForce in round 2.
Flipping Hell (10) vs. Ze Newie
Activate
Ze Newie once more is away before Flipping Hell, as Tom using his extra control, manages to dance around Flipping Hell€™s initial attack. Dave Weston is trying to out-drive Tom Roper, but Tom is simply out-driving Dave€™s machine, as it slams into the side and pushes it sideways into the pit release, lifting it up onto the wall. Flipping Hell can€™t get away from the side wall.
Ref is called into play, as he comes rolling over the arena, to remove Flipping Hell from the wall, as the 10 second waiting period begins for Ze Newie. 10 seconds is over, as Ze Newie dashes around Ref, as he returns to the Ref zone to rest his eyes. Ze Newie slams into Flipping Hell, and wastes no time in taking the 10th seed over towards the pit, and flipping it down.

The Norman Sheppard Tribute Tournament
Maybe Im tired, but Im really puzzled by the Geforce flipping two robots OOTA at once bit. Even assuming it can flip 200 KGs that high, its not got a wide enough flipper to get both machines on the tip fully enough to flip them properly, and if one robot is further back on the flipper while one is in front of it, the front one would be OOTAs, while the rear one would be bounced upwards a bit due to not having as much leverage put into the throw.
Anyway, against Ze Nwie Ill try to get around to the sides. If I can it right near to the arena wall I think I can OOTA it, so Ill aim for that. If hes coming to get me, Ill put the plate/skirt/thing on whatever side hes on down to the maximum, so hopefully hell just ride right up it.

My sides are high? News to me.
The front is as low as you can go though, so Ill just plough into him at full speed and try to throw him around a bit.

Heat O, Round 2
Fight 1
Ze Newie vs. Starstorm 2
In the red square, from the lands of Australia, comes in the torque munching beast with the biohazard style lifter, will Tom€™s machine reach the heat final?
In the blue square, it is aiming for the stars and if you get on it€™s front it will shoot you up into the stars. Dr Frank€™s dome is ready for some flipping action; all the skirts are primed and ready for battle.
3
2
1
Activate
The two robots are off from the starting squares, as Frank is cruising with the skirts all up, all ready for Tom€™s attack. Tom puts on the power and tries to ram into Starstorm, but Frank dodges the attack with some excellent driving skill, and avoids having to put the skirts down. Ze Newie turns around to aim for another ram, as Starstorm 2 manages to dodge the attack once more, as Frank turns on the aggression and spins the wheels to get the front end around to face Ze Newie€™s side.
Tom using his driving skills manages to avoid an attack from Starstorm, but for the first time, the skirts have been lowered as Ze Newie tries to attack to get underneath Starstorm 2. Instead at the last moment, Tom brakes, and drives away to avoid getting into a position where he could be flipped. Starstorm 2 raises it€™s skirts enough so that Frank can drive it without being harmed by the increased friction. Ze Newie spins on the spot and drives straight towards Starstorm.
Frank drops the front skirt, as the first contact is made between these two robots. Ze Newie has gone up onto the skirt of Starstorm, but not enough to loosen it€™s grip, as Frank fires the full bodied flipper, sending Ze Newie into a 360 degree head-over-tails spin. Starstorm is on the attack once more, but narrowly misses getting a classic side-shot on Ze Newie, which dodges the front skirt of Starstorm and drives away from Starstorm to open the pit, by depressing the pit release. Will this be a sign of things to come, as Starstorm, (which is just 0.5 mph faster than Ze Newie) catches up to Tom€™s machine and tries to attack.
Mr Roper is ready and manages to dodge the attack, and puts on an anti-attack, and manages to temporary breach the skirts of Starstorm 2, but Frank locks up the left hand side and darts away from Ze Newie before the full power can be unleashed from the 4 grippy wheels. A quick flip from Starstorm 2 lifts Ze Newie up, but not enough to raise the wheels, as Tom drives quickly, as the right hand side drops, with the wheels at full revs to drive away. Starstorm 2 gives chase.
Ze Newie spins on the spot to get it€™s front wedge into play, as Starstorm looks like to be ploughing straight into Ze Newie, as Tom dodges the attack. Frank has seen this, and in response drops his skirts and does an anti-dodge to the dodge to cancel it out. Both robots meet head on, as Starstorm gets underneath the front end of Ze Newie, and finally gets it€™s wheels off the ground. Starstorm is wasting no time in getting Ze Newie towards the arena wall, as it keeps at full speed to prevent Ze Newie reversing off the wedge. Starstorm 2 brakes, as Ze Newie darts backwards, as the flipper fires at full power.
Ze Newie is tossed straight into the arena wall, upside-down, as Starstorm gets underneath Ze Newie and flips. Tom€™s heart beats another beat, as Ze Newie lands on the right side of the wall, and starts to self-right. Starstorm rams straight into Ze Newie once more, and Frank has had enough of trying to get the OOTA and drives straight towards the pit.
Another fatal twist in the tale, as Ze Newie manages to get off the wedge before Starstorm can get it in the pit. Ze Newie turns and runs to get a good line-up against Starstorm, Frank is not happy, that is the 3rd time he has failed to finish off the fight, maybe he needs more coffee, as Ze Newie comes at full power, driving straight towards Starstorm 2. Frank dodges, but Tom rams straight into the front corner of Starstorm and gets underneath Frank€™s machine for once and lifts it up.
Starstorm 2 flips it€™s flipper rocking the entire robot away from a perfect pitting from Ze Newie, but still Tom is on the case of Starstorm but fails to get underneath the skirts, as Frank has lowered them fully to prevent another attack. Starstorm is driving Ze Newie sideways, as it has driven itself onto the side, and the skirt has risen a tad. Frank drives parallel to the pit, as Ze Newie is hanging on for dear life, the pit yawning for food. Suddenly it drops, sliding down the pit and into clouds of smoke.
Cease
Starstorm wins via TKO over Ze Newie in 4:51, as it moves onto the heat final.
Fight 2
Achilles (23) vs. GeForce
In the red square, champion of NSBFL 6, Achilles. Lifter and clamper comes as standard on this little wedge machine. Designed to get under, clamp, lift, and pit, something like looks like Andy€™s tactics of €œflip it.€ Will the 23rd seed win the right to party in the heat final?
In the blue square, GeForce. Driven today in Andy€™s unexplained absence by someone else from team code 14, wearing dark glasses, and wearing an orange tie. Will the flipper robot flip to victory here with it€™s simple strategy of flipping it???
Achilles has removed the hydraulics in flavour for the co2, will this be a wise move?

At once the battle has started, and both robots have left the starting squares, leaving a lovely set of tyre marks, as the party of the heat semi-final has started, as GeForce and Achilles dives around each other, as Alex goes straight into attacking mode and slams straight into the front corner of GeForce, and before you can say Bob€™s your uncle, Achilles is pushing GeForce at full power towards the low wall.
Andy€™s driver is trying to get away, but the wheels are spinning trying to get traction, but the ultimate power from Achilles is too much as the flipper fires, sending GeForce straight over the arena fence, and crashing down onto the camera track. The flipper on GeForce fires, but it can€™t get back into the arena.

Starstorm 2 vs. Achilles (23)
In round 1, these two robots met for the first time, in a melee which saw Rogue end up down in the pit.
In round 2, Starstorm 2 fought hard against Ze Newie but Tom€™s machine ended down in the pit as well. Achilles flipped GeForce out of the arena within a minute to claim it€™s spot here today.
Both robots are in the arena for yet another Frank vs. Alex fight, these two meet each other more times than any other match up.
Achilles is still using the co2 (at time of writing ~ 10:00 am, I know I should check, but that mends signing into the interweb)

The acceleration from these two robots here today is almost identical, but Achilles has that extra 3 mph, which doesn€™t sound like much, but when it€™s low speeds it means everything. Starstorm 2 is waiting for the first attack, Frank using the same tactics he used against Ze Newie by going on the defensive, and lowering the skirts when being attacked. Achilles have turned around and both robots are facing each other in a classic battle scene.
The fingers and thumbs are hovering over the buttons on the remote controls, as there is an unseen battle of strength between the two robots, as Frank lowers the front skirt of Starstorm 2 a bit, but not too much. Achilles breaks free of the mental battle and comes storming across the arena. Starstorm 2 is ready for the attack and lowers all skirts as quick as possible. Achilles is also ready to attack, with the co2 flipper primed and ready to go.
The first blood is drawn, as there is a deadlock between skirt and wedge, neither can get underneath, as Achilles is pushing forward, using the power from the twin Etec drive against the MagMotors from Starstorm 2. Starstorm 2 is pushed back into the arena wall, Frank hasn€™t got the power to push back, nor the speed to simply drive away, and with the wheels finding life hard to grip when pushing backwards, Frank can€™t use his driving skills to simply drive away.
Achilles is finally underneath Starstorm 2, as it hit the back wall, the front lifted up enough to allow a wedge to slip underneath. Alex is using his drive to hold Starstorm 2, as the T-shaped bar at the stop is preventing Starstorm from driving up and over the top. What a genius idea, something to stop robots driving up and over your wedge, if only Wedge Devolution had one, it would be still in the contest. Meanwhile, Achilles is lining up with an attack, to get Starstorm out of the arena; no co2 from either robot has been used up, as Achilles opens the pit release.
Alex has worked out the risks of trying to flip such a large robot out of the arena, and has decided to dump it down the pit, in a safe manner. Starstorm meanwhile, looks like he is enjoying the piggy-back ride, even though the pit is coming closer and closer, the timer is running out for Achilles€™ pinning, as Achilles simply flips Starstorm down the pit with a few seconds left of the 30 second pin time. The smoky pit starts to smoke, as Starstorm implodes and the star goes supersonic.

Round 1
Only 6 robots remain in the heats, with 15 packed up ready for round 4, 5 more will each take home a copy of the French translation of the world famous book €œHow to speak French€Â, yep, it€™s that pointless.
Melee 1
ForcePower Turbo (21) vs. Tails vs. El Persistance
From England, the 21st seed, ForcePower Turbo. This version of Andy€™s power horse has 64 horsepower and is the most powerful robot the entire tournament; however his wheels will be under a lot of pressure to put down all that power. In addition, it doesn€™t work upside down at all well due to the front wedge being fixed, but if it gets you on it€™s wedge, than you will feel the force.
In Far 8: (as ForcePower 3) beat El Persistance and Dodge-This before being lifted OOTA by Panic 3 GTI in the heat final.
From Sunny Scotland, Tails. Entered by that very nice Steven who€™s main aim in life is to destroy all coffee shops and replace them with Tea-Houses. Tails has a front flipper *points to flipper* and a rear angled spinning head spinner to damage other robots. The spinner is very damaging if it hits you, and the front flipper can flip 200 kg with ease, but with 2 wheels at the rear of the machine, and with a lot of weight over those two wheels, the front can lift up, and the ride-height around the sides and rear is slightly high.
In Far 8: Tails was only a wee baby then and didn€™t enter.
From England, El Persistance. Entered by Matt R, this 20 horsepower box with lifter hopes to slam, lift, and pit those other evil robots. However the skirts can harm it€™s freedom of movement around the arena and there is only 1 motor, so control can be a tad of a handful.
In Far 8: Lost to ForcePower 3 in round 1
Only Steve is in the control booths, as an unknown member of the general Woot Company is driving for ForcePower because Andy is away and Matt€™s friend Bob is driving for El Persistance.
The boxes have been locked, the melee arena is ready.

Activate
ForcePower Turbo has put down all the power in a controlled manner and accelerates to 15 mph without no problem, as the speed limiter kicks in. Tails also is away from the yellow square, rear spinner up to speed, as ForcePower meets El Persistance head on, as the sheer force from ForcePower€™s drive means that El Persistance is underneath ForcePower and is slammed straight into the rear wall. Tails slips in to the side of ForcePower and gives the invertible El Persistance a good kicking with the rear spinner, ripping off the skirt without any trouble what-so-ever, in revenge for Spin Dash. ForcePower is away to open the pit release button.
Tails gives El Persistance another taste of it€™s rear spinner, not allowing Matt€™s pusher to get away from it€™s rear end. ForcePower has opened the pit release and before you can say ForcePower, it has rammed straight into El Persistance, slamming El Persistance straight into the arena back-wall, as Tails reverses to get away, as Force Power scopes up El Persistance on it€™s front wedge and before you can blink, it is across the medium sized arena, and slams straight into the opposite arena wall. El Persistance exits the arena, and manages to give the arena camera a good hitting on the way past, as the metal camera looks like it€™s got hit by a random crane.
Cease
ForcePower Turbo (21) and Tails wins over El Persistance via TKO in 1:10.
Melee 2
Firestorm 5 (12) vs. Going Crunch vs. Hell€™s Teeth
From England, and 12th seed, Firestorm 5. Entered by Frank as his realie, Firestorm 5 is one amazing machine, front flipper, 2WD, and an active rear diff to give it excellent control, and a front which only the almighty Razor has gotten underneath. However it has been beaten by faster flippers and rammers in the past, so will it be able to get past this heat?
In Far 8: Beat Newton X, then Launch Pad, then Wedge Devolution, before being placed out of the arena by Mr Gravity.
From Birmingham, Going Crunch. A rare machine, it is a clusterbot, but with both parts different, 45% is a flipper, 55% is a spinner, and 100% is Chris€™s driving. Both parts are fast and the spinner is powerful, but both parts are light and so can be pushed around by rammers, could this be the problem for Going Crunch?
In Far 8: Didn€™t enter
From Oxford, Hell€™s Teeth. Entered by Dave Weston as his realie, this realie which made it€™s only television appearance in the extreme 2 new blood, so from what I can remember it€™s a 2 wheeled wedge, with a rear spinner at the rear and a front wedge at the front (wow, that was a shocker). However, the ground clearance is high and the spinner is a tad underpowered for life in the vapourbot world.
All 4 drivers are in the control booths, Frank, Chris 1, Chris 2 and Dave, as the countdown starts for my last ever heavyweight melee

Chaos and confusion in the arena, as all 4 robots are away from the multi coloured squares, as Firestorm 5 is looking for Hell€™s teeth, which Frank has decided is the weakest of the robots in the melee, as Going and Crunch are trying to get around to attack Firestorm, but Frank has driven the front end of Firestorm underneath the front wedge of Hell€™s Teeth, in a head-on battle of blood, as Frank presses the large button on Firestorm to drive it forward, as Going slams into the side, and makes a lovely scar in the armour, as Crunch gets underneath the two rear wheels, as both flippers fire, as Hell€™s Teeth lands on it€™s back, firestorm self-rights before Crunch can attack it once more.
Going slams into the side of Firestorm once more, as Frank gets underneath the 55 kg spinner and pushes it towards the arena wall, and puts it over the fence, but the damage can be seen, as Hell€™s Teeth tries to damage Firestorm 5 from the rear, are Crunch tries to beat the front flipper, but Frank dodges the attack, and slams into Hell€™s Teeth, as he pushes the realie towards the arena wall, before flipping it over the fence to join Going on the dark side of the fence.

Crunch slams into Firestorm 5 and flips it over the fence to reply for Going€™s wicket.

Two very similar machines here, but I have one big advantage - the spinny bar. IIRC, Firestorm is still aluminium, meaning a nice meal for Tailsy here. NSTT, Heat 16, Round 2
4 robots remain for the last remaining spot in the semi finals, both seeds have made it into round 2, but who will be the golden 2 making it into the last heat final?
ForcePower Turbo (21) vs. Going Crunch
The 64 horsepower monster of a machine against those two little clusters, one with a spinner and the other with a flipper, all three machines are in the arena, for the 78th fight of NSTT, so without further delay

ForcePower Turbo accelerates away from the starting square, like it€™s powered by a formula 1 engine, but with a 640 horsepower per tonne, it is more powerful than the new Aston Martin, as Going Crunch spilt up, to move to pincer ForcePower Turbo. Andy turns, after opening the pit release, by ripping off the pit release button, as he spins around to slam into some other robots.
Chris and Chris 2 dodge the attacks well, by dodging to the left and to the right, as ForcePower Turbo come charging at then. Going (the flipper) aims for a side shot on ForcePower Turbo, as Crunch (the spinner) aims for another shot on the sides. ForcePower Turbo turns to meet the front end of Crunch; Andy puts on full power, as ForcePower Turbo accelerates straight into the front, where the spinner does no damage to the solid front, as Crunch is pushed backwards, straight into the arena wall. It bounces away and carries around running.
Going comes up behind ForcePower Turbo and gets the flipper underneath the rear, and flips ForcePower Turbo over, could this be the turning part of the battle? ForcePower Turbo turns and annoyed slams into Going at full power, knocking the little bugger into the air, and onto it€™s back. Going quickly self-rights as Crunch comes up behind ForcePower Turbo, but Andy slams in reverse and slams Crunch backwards, as the spinner hits into the rear plate, and making lovely sparks. Going makes his way towards ForcePower Turbo, being faster than it by a little amount, but it€™s acceleration is good as well, as Crunch is slammed into the arena wall for a 2nd time, as Going gets underneath the front end of ForcePower Turbo, as the wheels have been lifted off the ground.
Crunch comes into play now, as it manages to get ForcePower Turbo away from the arena wall, still on the front wedge, but as soon as it€™s free, the wheels have managed to contact with the wedge and ForcePower Turbo spins away, but Going flips it at the last moment, sending ForcePower Turbo upwards, as the initial power is wasted, as ForcePower Turbo comes down, still inverted, as Crunch slams straight into the side, spinner going strong, as ForcePower Turbo is lifted up once more, as the first sign of damage to the thick titanium is seen. 2 minutes are left on the clock, as ForcePower Turbo finally gets away from Going and drives over the arena spike.
The spike rights ForcePower Turbo as it goes wedge side down, and it turns to box-rush straight into the front end of Going. The impact sends the little 45 kg part of Going Crunch away, as ForcePower Turbo keeps on the doggy aggression and slams into it the front wall, with so much force that it goes flying over the arena wall and onto the camera tracks. Crunch slams into the rear end of ForcePower Turbo with the spinner and lifts up the rear end of ForcePower Turbo, put it is pushed backwards, as ForcePower Turbo slams Crunch into the rear wall, as it takes to the skies.
1 minute is remaining, as Crunch spins up once more and dodges the attack from ForcePower Turbo, which spins off into the wall, as Crunch turns and slams into the side once more, lifting up ForcePower Turbo a tad, but causing more damage. Andy turns ForcePower Turbo around on the spot and slams it straight into the front end of Crunch and carries it across the arena on the front wedge and straight into the arena wall, where a repeat of Going€™s demise is seen, as Crunch joins Going on the dark side of the wall.

ForcePower Turbo (21) wins over Going Crunch via TKO in 4:57.
Fight 2
Firestorm 5(12) vs. Tails
Both similar machines, both with forward hinged flippers, both with 2 wheels, but firestorm has the power in the flipper and Tails has it in it€™s spinner.
Both robots are in the arena, both control booths are locked

Both robots hurry out of the starting squares, like their tails are on fire, as the Scottish flag flying Tails gets it€™s evil rear spinner up to speed to attack the sides of Firestorm, but Frank, who has a cup of coffee in his control booth for that added extra boast, as Firestorm comes storming into play.
There is a frontal collision, as Firestorm, proving once more that it has the 2nd lowest wedge in UK robot wars, slides underneath Tail€™s own front, and flips it at once. The rear flywheel hits the ground first, as Tails spins on the spot, as it self-rights. Frank driving Firestorm rams into Tails once more and flips it once more. However this flip puts Tails in a good position to come around the side of Firestorm quickly and is it on it€™s wedge.
Tails flips Firestorm against the wall, as Frank presses the self-right button, Tails rams Firestorm around, so that Firestorm self-rights, so that it€™s wheels are facing into the middle of the arena. Tails comes in with a tail hit by the spinner and makes a lovely cut in the underbelly, as Firestorm is freed from the wall and at once Frank slams underneath the rear end of Tails and flips it against the wall, before going off to open the pit.
Once more Tails self-rights, and gets away from Firestorm, which has opened the pit. Frank and Steve circle each other, as the old-school firm, think about attacking, as Tails breaks free from the spin and slams into Firestorm. Frank dodges at the last moment, but Steve knowing Frank€™s dodging strategy uses an anti-dodge to get around the sides of Firestorm, as Firestorm is on the wedge of doom and fur, but it isn€™t up far enough to do a good flip.
The pit is looking very comfy, as Tails is moving at head-speed towards it, Frank is trying to get Firestorm off Tail€™s front wedge, but he is finding it hard to, as Tails flicks the 12th seed down the hole with a mole, Steve gets a huge smile across his face as he works out he has won.

It is by universal misunderstanding that all agree. For if, by ill luck, people understood each other, they would never agree. (Charles Baudelaire)
17 robots remain, 16 places are in round 4, 15 robots have claimed their right to those places, 2 robots are left, ForcePower Turbo, the 21st seed or will be the un-seeded Tails, who wins, the arena decides. Who will become the 80th robot to be knocked out of NSTT?
Heat 16 Final
ForcePower Turbo (21) vs. Tails
Today€™s unofficial soundtrack is the promo of Franz Ferdinand 2, but to keep several people happy called Scott, it€™s really Simon Fowler & Oscar Harrison€™s excellent live album, live on the riverboat.
In round 1, these two robots met, as Tails and ForcePower Turbo torn, flip, rammed, poor old El Persistance. In round 2, ForcePower Turbo had a hard time in getting rid of Going Crunch, after it ganged up and flipped ForcePower over. Tails on the other hand had a tough battle against 12th seeds and heat favourites, Firestorm 5, but after a quick dodge to the side, Tails pitted the 3 times Robot Wars bronze medallist. Now these two meet up for the 2nd time, they will meet once more in AI: NAD, as Tails takes on MiniForce in the Middleweight€™s Winner Bracket Semi Finals (good, got that plug out of the way)
Both robots are in the arena, for the final fight in the heats, Steve and Andy are in the control booths, the England St. George flag is behind Andy and his team mates, whereas the Scottish St. Andrews flag is behind Steve, who is wearing a red €˜n€™ Black striped shirt and a coat.
Neither has strangely posted tactics, how rare is that indeed?

For the third time, ForcePower accelerates from the starting square in an uniform way putting down more and more of it€™s available power to get up to speed. All this happens within a second, as punch it is at you. Tails meanwhile is waiting in the wings, waiting for ForcePower€™s attack. Andy turns around, keeping as much speed as he can going around the corner and bang.
Steve has no time to blink before Tails moves to dodge the attacking ram from ForcePower Turbo, with no brakes on board to slow ForcePower down enough to control the ram, ForcePower rams straight into the arena wall. Steve quickly dives around the side, as the sliding door slides open to open up the entire arena for robotic playtime. Tails is underneath ForcePower€™s sides and flips the uber rammer over onto it€™s top with a flip from that flipper.
Tails moves to get away and runs towards the pit release button. ForcePower Turbo turns to drive over to cut the gap between Tails and the pit release, but Andy is too late, as Tails has depressed the pit release button, as the pit has opened. ForcePower rams straight into the side of Tails, and pushes it towards the back wall. Tails is slammed into the back-wall sideways, as ForcePower jumps up onto the side of Tails, but reverses back down. Tails looks like to be damaged, that side slam has done no good to the electronics inside Tails€™ wing, as it turns around, ForcePower rams at it€™s sides once more, but Steve dodges, by spinning the left wheel around so fast that Tails spins around, as ForcePower is brushed by the rear disc from Mr. Tails, but no damage is done, except for lots of pretty sparks.
ForcePower Turbo turns around to face Tails, as Steve turns Tails around; the pit is behind Tails, but a good 20 metres away, as both robots. Andy presses the launch control on ForcePower Turbo, but the wheels lose traction, as they smoke as 64 horsepower is put though then, as the steel arena floor is becoming shiny in several places. Tails comes at ForcePower Turbo, but Andy regains control and manages to dodge Tails€™ tail attack, and turns to attack the sides of ForcePower Turbo, as Tails turns around, you can see the damage caused by that ram, as the entire left hand side is bent inwards, almost jamming the flipper closed. Andy has seen this and has changed tactics to flip Tails over where hopefully it can€™t self-right. Steve meanwhile, whistling to the latest Franz Ferdinand tune turns Tails around to meet the front end of ForcePower Turbo.
Half-way though the battle, as it could still go either way, the tension is so thick you can play a game of football on it. The clock stuck 15 hours ago, the man is wasting by the wall, ForcePower Turbo turns and unleashes all the power in a controlled launch control manner, as Tails once more dodges the attack, but still manages to turn the rear end around to cause some more damage to the side plate of ForcePower Turbo, as it has sliced though the titanium like cheese though a mouse€™s stomach. ForcePower Turbo turns and puts on power once more, but slams in reverse as Tails dodges, Andy slams the motors into full forward drive and slams into the side of Tails, as Steve€™s lovable creature is slammed into the side wall once more, this time on the other side. Tails bounces away from ForcePower Turbo.
Steve turns the screw and slams straight into the side of ForcePower Turbo with that rear disc, causing more damage to the armour of ForcePower Turbo, but still nothing has broken though the tank. ForcePower Turbo turns around to try to get to the side of Tails, where it can only push from, because Andy doesn€™t want to risk losing the front wedge to that weapon, which has claimed the life of many of a lost soul. ForcePower Turbo slams into the side of Tails, but Steve flicks Tail€™s rear around, and the rear disc has found it€™s target and rips a part of the front wedge away, as Tails is slammed straight into the side wall, with ForcePower Turbo going up onto the rear end, as the front wedge extender of Tails takes all the damage and when Steve reverses Tails, the wedge extender is bent upwards. Steve is heard to be saying €œbrilliant€ in the control booth microphone.
Andy spins ForcePower Turbo away and quickly attacks once more, slamming Tails into the end wall at full speed, the front wedge on both robots are now seriously damaged, but ForcePower Turbo can not do anything else to Tails, as it stays rooted to the ground, that low centre of gravity is helping, as Steve did some tuning to the insides and put the weapon motor slightly lower, for this version of Tails. ForcePower Turbo is looking damaged, as it once more slams into Tails, but Steve dodges, as ForcePower Turbo meets it€™s maker of the side fence, and hits back and jumps back sideways. Andy puts on full power, with less than a minute remaining, neither robot has taken the advantage, as Tails dodges ForcePower Turbo attack once more, but Andy slams into reverse at full revs, something inside didn€™t like that, as Tails slams into ForcePower Turbo from the front, as ForcePower Turbo tries to put down the power in forward, the wheels are spinning, trying to gain traction, as the pit is coming up, behind ForcePower Turbo, where so many of ForcePower Turbo€™s victims have ended up. Tails does a little flip, using the flipper, as ForcePower Turbo tumbles and falls 6 feet below. The flipper closes on tails, but it doesn€™t close properly.
Cease
On closer inspection, the sudden reversal of torque ripped a part of the gearing clean away from the drive system, preventing power being used, ForcePower Turbo was just too powerful for it€™s own good, as it still ended up 6 feet under.
And so, nobody though this would happen but Tails wins over ForcePower Turbo (21) via KO in 4:41, and so claims the 16th and final place in the semi finals.
Next post will have details of the other weight draw and the all important final 16 draw.

Final 16 Draw
Tanto 3 vs. Storm 2
The Disc 5 vs. Hell Machine (17)
Tsunami 2 (4) vs. Automatic Schmuck
Clawdius Decimus Murderous (1) vs. Son of Ripper 4 (2)
Panic Attack vs. Drilla Killa 7
Take Me Out vs. Achilles (23)
Tails vs. Ringwraith
NSBFR-X (24) vs. Giga-Byte (15)
Tactics, Predictions, how were the heats?
But First:
The NSTT Other Weight Qualifiers:
Featherweight Melees (One goes out)
Hells Angel vs. Conundrum vs. Ram-Raider
Storm Vortex vs. Kinetic Energy vs. OverDrive (1)
Lightweight Melee (One goes out)
Hell Hound vs. Typhoon Thunder vs. Toe Crusher vs. Little Big Bot vs. MiniForce
Middleweight Melee (One goes out)
Hell Fire (1) vs. Typhoon vs. Knee Breaker vs. Tom vs. The Steel Sandwich
Message to Tony:
Looking on €œCool Robots€Â, it says there is no such robot called Toe Crusher and Knee Breaker, can you find stats and a picture otherwise these two won€™t be allowed in the melee
Message to Chris M:
Ram-Raider is 6kg over the Featherweight Walker Limit (24 kg) whereas RR is 30 kg. Please can you swap robots with either another FW (CFL or Realie) or Ram-Raider will be kicked out.

http://www.robotcombat.com/bbsfmay02middle.htmlhttp://www.robotcombat.com/bbsfmay02middle.html - scroll down for Knee Breaker
First, predictions:
Tanto 3 vs. Storm 2 - Seeing we still have no clue what Tanto 3s weapons are like, I refuse to call it.
Tsunami 2 (4) vs. Automatic Schmuck - If Tsunami can take a hit or three and get some flips in, it could be Germany 1 - Australia 0
Clawdius Decimus Murderous (1) vs. Son of Ripper 4 (2) I dont think the champ will lose its crown just yet.
Panic Attack vs. Drilla Killa 7 - Drilla Killa 7 to go forward
Take Me Out vs. Achilles (23) - Hopefully Achilles will go through here. Whoever entered Behemoth was robbed
Tails vs. Ringwraith - Tails.
And now tactics.
The Disc 5 vs. Hell Machine (17) - Dave might have the most powerful axe in the wars, but Ive got possibly the hardest to axe shape in existence:proud: Go for side attacks and knock it around til it dont move no more.
NSBFR-X (24) vs. Giga-Byte (15)
Lifter wedge I think, and re-enact Storm 2 vs Tough as Nails.

The Norman Sheppard Tribute Tournament
The heats have been well written, Dave, and hopefully the next fights will be as good!
Against Panic Attack, Drilla Killa 7 will just attack the sides and rear (dont want to risk the forks), try and get past the skirts and drill the underbelly, or at least shove it around.
Ringwraith will keep to Tails side and try to cause damage with the spinner. Hopefully the spinner wont get too much fur caught in it - if it does affect the spinner, Ill just ram and be aggressive, still keeping to the side.
-
The Norman Sheppard Tribute Tournament
Hells Angel vs. Conundrum vs. Ram-Raider
Storm Vortex vs. Kinetic Energy vs. OverDrive
Erm... I guess Ill go after Ram-Raider and try and pit it or push it into the spinners. :P Its an annihilator so you cant really give tactics - its gonna be chaos!
Hell Hound vs. Typhoon Thunder vs. Toe Crusher vs. Little Big Bot vs. MiniForce
Stay well clear of Hell Hound, that thing looks nasty! If Im going to concentrate on a certain bot it would be Typhoon Thunder, just try to keep the shell speed low and push it around.
Hell Fire vs. Typhoon vs. Knee Breaker vs. Tom vs. The Steel Sandwich
Its designed to go after the spinners, so Typhoon or Knee Breaker will do.
Enjoyed the heats Dave, keep up the good work! Ill post my semi final tactics and predictions when the other weight qualifiers have finished.
-
The Norman Sheppard Tribute Tournament
Andy, the Featherweights is like a heat, 2 round 1 melees, where one robot falls from each, then a knockout to get the champion, no 6-way annihilator in view.
-
The Norman Sheppard Tribute Tournament
Oh sorry, I miss-read it. In that case I better go for Vortex then.
-
The Norman Sheppard Tribute Tournament
...AAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAA!
Well, I did say Id laugh like hell if Tails won its Heat. :proud:
SEMI-FINALS
CLAWDIUS DECIMUS MURDEROUS (1) VS Son of Ripper 4.0 (2)
Same tactics as last seasons final¨. Get under those highish sides, clamp on for dear life (maybe getting one of those wheels, too) and activate the Pit. Then, off I go to dump it. Heres hoping for a repeat of last year
Ringwraith VS TAILS
Kamikaze! Charge straight in to stop the spinner. Then, start whacking the drum and wheels with my whirling bar until death. Failing that, charge right under, slam it into some walls and attempt to pit.
Great as ever, Davey Boy...but Im with Frank. Matty Mac and Behemoth got royally screwed. :proud:

Dave, you didnt look hard enough. Christian Carlberg [Who runs Coolrobots.com] Built the things, so they ARE on there.
Living proof: http://www.extremefightingmachines.co.uk/cgi-bin/discus/board-profile.cgi?action=pict&file=4419.jpghttp://www.extremefightingmachines.c...ile.cgi?action =pict&file=4419.jpg
Anyways for any heat..Uhh..Wanna team up Andy, and just kill everything in sight?
Im with Steve and Frank as well, Id like to see proof on this 30 second OOTA rule before I belive Matt wasnt screwed.

Now you say, if you said that I would have looked in that direction.

The Norman Sheppard Tribute Tournament
I got totally SCREWED by Dave, just like Tom Roper got totally SCREWED by Dave in FRW 7.
I still challenge that 30 second rule thing, once a robot is out of the arena, the fight is over. Its just like if a robot is immobilised for 10 seconds or if it ends up in the pit, it is out!

The Norman Sheppard Tribute Tournament
My decision...
...Behemoth vs. Take Me Out will be rewritten...
...tonight
