What sorta speed are you looking at for the actuator to reach full travel? And is the weapon a kind of double lifter? (just wondering when I see the motor attached to the lifting arm)
Looking cool as well :)
*EDIT* Just seen the description you gave further up the page about the weapon being a clamper/lifter - never mind then

Yup, and about four seconds for more like 350mm lift rather than the 200mm previously stated
Why Not Mount The Actuator To Other Way?? Would Be Able To Self Right And Have Alot Faster Arm
1. Not enough space in design (designed due to 2.)
2. Actuator is a very decent speed with ~40kg push force, havent really timed it properly so 4s full travel is an off-the-top-of-the-head estimate - Basically I think its fast enough and I dont want to be pressuring it too much when I want to lift a whole feather (or two!). Having some support at the front of the arm is a help too.
By The Looks Of The Shape And Stroke On Arm It Doesnt Look Like Its Going To SelfRight
Should be ok once he has the grabbing arm on. Ewan is it going to work abit like Complete control? Good work mate, nice to see somthing differant.
Oh yeah Andy, it should selfright with the combined action of the grabber and arm, the arm hasnt enough travel by itself. Yeah, complete control Dave, if it works it should be fun :)
About time i built another featherweight, nothing fancy though...
Name: Mr. Happy:)
Power: Nimh, through electronise speedos
Drive: 14.4v drills on 24v running 75mm blue wheels
Armour: 4mm hardox welded chassis
Weapon: Electric lifter / invertable rammer
Building this weekend, pics sometime next week.
Pic on profile, Didnt make it invertible in the end, just made the lifter work as selfrighter:)
Looking cool mate, nice and strong. Good to see youve still got the same bed covers as I have
kool, looks really gd dave
nice!
:lame:

Whos Been Speaking To The Modders Then Ewan :)
:proud:
Latest pics of OverDrive on profile.
Made the front end flat and thickened up the armour since the last version. Its also a lot smaller in length. :)
Very nice! Keep it up AJ, looking great!
Mr Stu
Go Tornado :proud:
Looks nice AJ!
Looks good, be interesting to see what attachments you come up with - be creative :)
Thanks for the feedback guys. Ill hopefully come up with a few original attachments to make it less of a direct clone of Tornado/KR2.

Razer Cage :)
About time I put something up here - designed for the UKRG but still a feather;
Name - Kaizer
Drive - Four 9.6v drills run @ 12v on to 85mm dia. wheels
Power - Two 12v 2.3Ah SLAs in parallel
Speedos - 30A Electronize (external relays)
Armour/chassis - Main body made from polycarb, steel computer shelving hacked apart to cover outer panels
Notes - Can change between a wedge (for sumo) and guides (for football).
Piccy on profile - still need to add the metal coverings, fit an aerial, and mount a hole-thingy for the Tug-of-War (oh, and paint :))
Doesnt look bad at all Jamie.
Looking good, all set for Saturday?
Name - Weed
Drive - Two drill motors @ 24V
Power - Drill batteries
Speedo - MD22 controller
Armour - T6 ali
Weapon - Low pressure flipper
Weight - Slightly over but were working on it :)
Will get a picture when the painting is complete. If not, well be a Fairford.
Dave - Team Kronic
Wish I could say I was all set for Saturday Alan . Had my team-mate round today to try and get in a mammoth build session but the heat made work very difficult and didnt get as much done as Id have liked. Tomorrow and Friday are gonna be busy days :proud:
Heres a couple of pics taken of Vertigo (ahem) yesterday with a test-fitting of the arm:

Hopefully I can make something interesting from this grabber concept.
Looking good Ewan.
Nicely Engineered!

Cheers Glen :)
Very nice there Dave - is it built to scale with the heavy or a little different?
Whens your next event? (and Glen?)
Trying to get my feather finished but have little time at the moment with the new arrival a few months ago.
I am pretty sure i should be ok to make to final round of the UK champs at Folkestone for some white board fights.

ewan and dave-looking good. Nice to see some new style designs in feathers!
Question for geoff???
I need to get some new batteries for ploughbot-running on very cheap 2100nicads at the moment and they dont last a fight. Dave moulds mentioned that you use NiMhs in scorpion evil? i have a good set of 3300GP cells but i didnt think they would stand up to 2astros and an overvolted drill motor? Any suggestions?
Thanks
I *think* he does :)
I seem to remember hes gone to the 3700mah GP Ni-Mhs recently?
This wouldnt make all that much difference though - Id suggest its worth a try as they should stand up to the current draw OK. Theyve (3300 GPs) lasted me over two years including a flutter with a highly under-geared Astro weapon.
Now though, as the boldness of your letters seems to be inviting, perhaps Geoff should answer
Ewan, Its basically a smaller version of Kronic build pretty much to scale.
Next event will be Fairford
Dave
including a flutter with a highly under-geared Astro weapon....
I love the smell of burning Astroflights in the morning!!
The gospel of featherweight combat states..
verily, If thou wish to power more that 1 Astroflight motor at any one time, and thou hath not the means nor the bottle to useth the almighty Lithium Polymer battery then thou should useth the most exellent Ni-Mh 3700mha battery from GP. :)
Scorpion Evilution, Pillow Torque, Small Torque, Batterbot & Phoenix cant all be wrong!!
That astro of ewans came in very handy actually :)Its also been burned out again since :)
Thanks geoff, ill have a look at them
