4/5th October 2008 - Roaming Robots - Mountbatten Centre, Po

Well what a fabulous event!!

I really enjoyed that and even though there were a few teething problems the new arena mods are much better than i expected.

I would recommend though not getting stuck in the corner of the arena whilst fighting beast (sods law the first time ever it works properly is against us!!).

Big problem for us last year was reliability and to get such a hammering of Beast, go down kicking, screaming, biting and punching, the only thing that meant we couldnt get back in when we were eventually flipped out was we were out of gas and upside down. Quick charge of the batteries and gas refill and back up and running.

Spot on Jonno, great to see things moving in a different, fun direction.

beast is back on form again :) if it wernt comp it would have been different but i needed to win :) lol

my dad has now been sacked as he is useless on the button and ill be now doing it myself lol

think this was my last event of the year but ill try and get to another - 2009 is going to be FUN! and beast will be gettin some miles in - literally :)

we also got a tour of portsmouth on the way back - my dad can get to the venue without satnav but cant get out of it - we were driving around for about an hour before we started to head north!

im watching motd and what a goal by crouch!

o ye pain in the asp and pillow torque are rly annoying but whens the heavy coming geoff?

You could have at least let us land before flipping us again!

I think out of the three minutes we were in we spent about two and a half in mid air! Very unsportsman like. Not that I was paying much attention but I bet the crowd loved that.

LJ - Didnt know at the time that I did Beauty so much damage until Geoff showed me the big hole in the top and the wheel-less spindle :uhoh:
Mind you - its nice to get some fighting form back and I didnt drive down the pit once :proud:

About that heavy .... John Bell joked to me that I would probably be driving it - I joked back with polite words on this forum to the effect that hell would freeze over before I was lifting into the arena!!

its a competition, and the prize is the winter tour and alot of money

in competitions i dont play fight - i just try to get the job done and i did that

Just wanted to say thanks for making our first event so wonderful. You were all so welcoming and helpful.
A bit worried now as I can see this being very expensive. My children have decided that they cant possibly share the same robot so now need to buy another one.

envy at last got its ass into gear in the last show and was running as it should. just need to get used to the wotty and tweak it a little and we are off. Thor was the best its been for years and full ownage of its fights was a pleasure to watch. still it produced another niggle which will be an easy fix and ready for notts.

great event and i do love the new format it has totally changed the way envy fights. it felt great driving back into the arena . love the high walls.

also i think mr stu did a great job under great pressure and he needs a round of applause from the community for putting uk robotic combat world wide. good job mate....... clap clap clap clap clap.

the social was a great laugh and for those that were there i am sure will say the same. trev and pat you were great company yet again and thanks for everything.

Team Devil yes it can be a little expensive
but cheaper than other sports
karoline your just a bully :)

yet again thanx to RR its made the flippers work hard now and most fights last the distance

Thanks for a great event, we really enjoyed it!

Maelstrom worked well for its first outing and the new arena set up was great.

Also does anyone have any videos of Maelstrom in action, we didnt film any fights.
