Well done Tiny Toon
alex - i got someone out but part from that i didnt see any lol
the game play favours push bots but could prob be changed abit by like you have your own 2 sides and you have to get the robot to them instead of any side or something like that
and dave moulds your dead! if the link didnt come out then you wouldnt have won lol ill get you back at robochallenge
so whats the best clubs in newcastle?
some more pictures

Pic on Profile of Hornet after battle with Kishar. The fight only lasted for one hit. Hornets Weapon support got bent causing the disc to pop out and damage the weapon pully. Kishars weapon shaft got bent disabeling its disk but it was still mobile so won the fight.
700 miles
500 quid in upgraded and new parts
150 quid on car hire, fuel and accomodation
150 hours spent upgrading
15 seconds or so of fighting....
Really beginning to wonder if its worth it.
Well done for throwing the event Craig along with your team, got a few things I would like to chat to you about on msn.
OUCH! :)
Not long back, twas a nice brisk drive back up, snowed a little but nothing much to warrant stopping to have a snowball fight
Firstly, thanks very much to Craig and all your team for running a successful event! Yes, the first show had to be cancelled (it was Kennys fault :)) due to the time taken to get the arena up plus the little problems encountered during the build but what would your first event be without several stress-inducing incidents? :P
But seriously, a lot of effort put in, another spinner-capable arena and one of the best events Ive been to in terms of comedy. Your compere quips throughout the day along with the general banter really added to my enjoyment of it. Look forward to competing at Rebel Robots events again.
Kaizer went out in the first round against Pillow Torque. Had a couple of whiteboards (that was the robot Beauty 2 flipped out) and then a gearbox jammed (now fixed). Thankfully its held together well and will be good for Robochallenge next month. Many thanks to Clive for lending us the battery packs - they work really well and make for a nippy robot :)
Drumroll made it to the seocnd round but lost against Pain in the Asp on points. However, I think Ive given Geoff a couple of nights work perhaps - really good fight though, thoroughly enjoyed it :)
Alex, thanks for taking a lot of pictures! With all that was going on, I kinda forgot about my camera
Thanks again everybody, and well done to Alex for a great win with Tiny Toon! :)
However, I think Ive given Geoff a couple of nights work perhaps
A couple!! and then some!! you actualy managed to give it a fair seeing to!!.. About time someone did, its had far too easy a life so far!
But rest assured, it will be back.. Better, stronger and it may even be a bit quicker!
Despite some early problems, I think everyone who was there would agree that it was a good event.
At the risk of incuring the displeasure of the gas-bag brigade (filppers) I like the scoring system!
Good event and good atmosphere. Well done all, especially Craig and Alex.
Just finished disassembling and testing hornet and worked out what went wrong (bar the obvious disc coming loose :P)
It seems that when the disc jammed against the small sprocket on the mag the mag stalled drawing a huge current. This heated up the batteries and caused the plastic end caps on the batteries to melt and smoke (causing me to run like a loon through the pits to get the batts out!).
Tested the batteries and apart from being slightly unbalanced they seem to be unscathed from their ordeal and the mag works but it sounds a little rough. Gonna open it up next time Im back in the workshop.
Things are looking good for hornet to make an appearance at robochallenge in Newcastle :)
Congratulations to Alex for putting up such a good fight and fighting back again and again to win. It could have gone either way until Pillow Torque conked out but I blame Kenny for that :)
quote:
Bad luck Karoline, both you and Alex put on an excellent show of skillful driving. Take note of that folks :proud: No pit? Damn! Ive been rumbled! :uhoh:
Many thanks to Will for another hard fight in the semi-final and congrats for his teams 3rd & 4th places.
Last but not least my thanks goes to Craig and his crew for all the hard work they put in with the arena and the event. You can relax now mate!!
:)
If a said person got a hold of a video of there own robot in craigs arena and was to put said video on youtube and then post it on the forum.. would that be a breach of the contract which i didnt sign? :)
Tron got to the 1/4 finals.....................................What are the odds!!!!
Craig I say it again Very well done,I hope you havent been put off doing another soon.
Tiny Toon what a great result.
I had some problems controlling Tron on the day I think it was radio reception. I would blame myself but ....thank goodness for Kenny!!! :)
Would not do that Dave might cause problems for Craig and it did say before the event no filming allowed
Whats all this blaming Kenny business ?
dave moulds blamed me for 360 loosing to suprise and craig just said everyone to blame everything on me, nothing new......
Just got home.
Thanks very much to Craig and his crew for a wonderfull event.Yes there were teathing problems but how many EOs had a perfect first event?Loved the scoring system, very impressed with the way that Simon the judge kept the drivers informed every time a point was scored.Great that there is another type of event compared to the normal events.
Congratulations to Karoline on reaching the final,it was very close,(3-3) till you lost drive( it was I understand Kennys fault :)) also to Will, 2 robots in the last 4, some going.
Now all we have to do is to get Alex to put his trophy down.Hopefully he wont sleep with it again tonight.:)
Finally congratulations to Alex.We are very proud of you.
Is it too much to ask for the full results off someone? Would love to know who beat who. Also, can someone explain this scoring system for those who werent there?

the rules/scoring system was posted before the event
Interesting...seems to favour powerful pushers over all other types, but its nice to have a new type of event around.
Craigs said its okay to post these as there not competition fights

Not really, if you get hit by a spinner you could richochet over the line thus your opponent scores a point, similarly with being flipped over the line. What it does ensure that there are potentially 3 minutes of close contact fighting and the only way it could end early is by some failure of your robot.
...that first video scared me, bloody brilliant spinner youve done there Dave :)
Still no spiral on the disc though?
A spiral would take it overweight. lol
lol its like 1.6kg underweight
600 gram for selfwrighter gearbox, arm, motor, wire and switches..
1kg to upgrade the disc.
Would just like to say thanks to craig and the rebel robots crew also a massive thanks to jamie and his team for freeing my hand lol managed to get away with only a few cuts and some nerve damage oh and thanks to saint johns ambulance for treating it
Firstly can I thank everyone for coming you made for a great show, Id like to thank Brian, Colin, Derek, Chris,Pete, Mary and Amanda for all their efforts on the day, I couldnt of done it without you all.
enough of the Grammy speech
It was brilliant to see the points system work, as always the rambots coped better, in RW flippers took 3 years to evolve into the dominant force and spinners took even longer I think were gonna see a much more rapid evolution in the system
The points system only favors pushers for now!
You all did so well, cheers to McHarg team, Gary, Tony, Simon and everyone else who got their hands dirty for the cause.
A big BIG thank you to our scape goat Kenny for being such a good sport, an after all you know it was your fault :)
Thank you everyone for making my day and our special guest for a rare appearance ;)
Thrown some clips together that i recorded before Rebel. Had to cut it down alot because of the 10 min time limit on youtube. its not right good but here:

Skillz!!!
Nice vid Tom, thankfully got to watch it with the music before WMG slapped its audio silence crap on it. Same thing happened to one of mine the other day. I prefer it when the music used is copyrighted to UMG. They stick an ad at the top of the video description but at least they dont mute the audio to it
I just slapped some music on provided by youtube now. Damn them removing my Metallica.
impressed Tom.....very good :)
badass painting skills mate:)
Cheers
