well then be stricter on ur definition of what a walker is
**Revamp**
Name: Supreme Glory Omega
Weight: 100kg
Armour: 20mm Lexan and LexiGuard compound and 4mm Grade 5 Titanium skirts.
Speed: 18mph, running of 2 x S28-400 MagMotors running at 24v.
Batteries: 4 x 24v 3600mAh NiCD Battlepacks.
Shape: Box shaped with Ti skirts on each side.
Weapon 1: An 11kg Aluminium alloy axe powered by liquid Nitrogen running at 1000psi. The axe mechanism is a rack and pinion system, using a 100mm stroke, 80mm bore pneumatic cylinder.
Strengths: Strong armour and very manoeuvrable.
Weaknesses: Axe only works if something is in front or behind the robot.
Ground Clearance: 0mm all around due to skirts.
Srimech: The axe self rights the robot.
Notes: The 2 wheels are made from Ti/V alloy and coated in Vulcalore to aid in traction. The robot is covered in 20mm Lexan and LexiGuard compound. The axe weighs a total of 11kg and is shaped like Excaliburs axe from series 3 of Robot Wars. This shape is designed to focus all the force on a single point, meaning it can pierce through armour easily. To stop the robot hopping around when the axe is fired, the robot incorporates a vacuum system. This system basically sucks SG0 to the ground and is mainly used when fighting pushers or robots with superior pushing power. This mechanism can be knocked on and off during the match. The robot carries 4kg of liquid Nitrogen on board and has roughly 35 hits per fight. The axe can come down with roughly 2 tonnes of force at the tip, meaning that the axe could knock certain opponents out in one hit.
What do you guys think of my machine?
Name: Cyrilium
Weight:100kg
Armour: A fictional material called cyrilium. Hence, the name. 1.5cm of cyrilium.
Speed: 20mph
Batteries: 1 USA Interstate Batteries 24V 54 amp R34 car battery.
Shape: Sort of a capital T, with a wedge on the top, and a wedge on the bottom.
Weapon: None, unless the wedges on the front an back count.
Strengths: Almost Invincible, Pretty Fast.
Weakness: Not Invertable
Ground Clearence: 1mm everywhere except for the wedges which are 0mm.
Srimech: none
Notes: Cyrilium is very hard to damage, since the fictional metal cyrilium is very tough and light. The robots internal components are very simple, since there is no active weapon. Since it is so hard, 5mm cyrilium metal can stand up to anything but spinners. Therefore, if I want to add more motors, I will trim the armour down to 1cm.

Big problem with Cyrilium - Its almost a direct rip-off of the first Kustom.
Sum1 plz look at my vapourbots and check they r OK.U can find them on my profile.I know its NIcad overkill but I couldn think of anythin else!
I think youre kind of underestimating the damage vapourbots do on the armour of some of them, 12mm lexan and 9mm aluminum wont stand up to that much, youre looking at at least 4mm Hardox or 6mm titanium to withstand damage adequately. The details could be improved - a rough estimate of dimensions would help, we need to know what gas powers the weapons (CO2 has max 750psi but gives more flips, Nitrogen goes up to 1000psi but loses power quickly) and for drive motors state more clearly what they are: http://www.robotcombat.com/products/motors_main.htmlhttp://www.robotcombat.com/products/motors_main.html will help here.
Basically, the main motors used here are either the various types of Magmotors or Lynch motors (LEM130/170/200). For most of your robots, S28-400 Mags should be sufficient to move them around, and for System Shock Id go for the LEM130s, which are what Storm II uses. You wont get more than 4 of them in 100kg though, at most. It would also help if you put them in a clear layout, like most people use.
The concept of all of them is very good though, theyre not horrifically overweight like some and you seem to be quite good in certain areas like batteries and body shapes. Not a bad start. :)
Thanks, I owe u!:talker:
I understand, but I have worked very hard to get Cyrilium just the way I want it. Since the cyrilium is super strong, are their any mechanical problems that need to be addressed with Cyrilium?
Its the super strong cyrilium thats the problem - it gives you an unfair advantage, and nobody knows how dense or how strong exactly it is so it could be massively overweight.
It is super-light, and super-strong. 1 square metre that is 2mm thick weighs 1/2kg. But, if you insist, I will trim the armour down to 1cm, thereby decreasing the weight to 95kg.
its simple, in our tourneys, we want you to enter a robot as if you made it yourself, and you DONT have access to Cyrilium in real life Mark, you dont :proud:
The only real way to destroy it is to weld it with a arc welder.
The strength of 2mm cyrilium equals the strength of 6mm scandium. Very strong.
Mark, people wont buy materials that come from your imagination!
I might as well enter something made of pulloutofmyassium and say 2 mm equals 2000 mm scandium
If everyone was allowed to invent their own materials and components to put on their robots, itd degenerate into who had the better spelled and detailed tactics, as everyone would have indestructable boxes with uber-drivetrains and massive flippers. Realism keeps things entertaining.
Well, lets say that my robot is the only one with cyrilium armour. That way, it will not spread. Besides the armour, everything else is realistic, right?
No. You cant have armour that doesnt exist.
Fine then, it is now 5mm scandium armour on Cyrilium.
Scandium is lighter than titanium, but its quite toxic, even more so than lead, so I dont really think itd be allowed unless its mixed with an alloy of like aluminium, titanium, iron, etc..
I would suggest something around the lines of titanium. Relatively light, relatively tough. A good all-rounder armour.
Fine then, I will mix it with titanium to create an alloy I call Scitanium.
I call Scitanium.
Did you not just hear what we said? YOU CANT MAKE UP YOUR OWN ARMOURS.
Please, look up some information about armours, or just start out with something like titanium or steel, and learn as you go on. You cant just enter something random and hope that itll be perfect.
RESEARCH, in other words.
what i am saying is it is an alloy of titanium and scandium.
to come up with a good name for this alloy, i call it scitanium. sc from scandium, itanium from titanium. hence, the name scitanium.
kind of flashy.
LOL. You cant come up with your own name for an existing alloy either. You need to look that up too. :proud:
Like I said, research. Its your best friend here. :)
well, I never really have been bossed around like this before.
just joking.
Im not bossing anyone around, Im just stating facts. Plain and simple. :)
just joking
Suuuuure. :proud:
No, Im serious. Just joking.
Oddly, Mark&Liam, your vapourbots are not my biggest concerns at the moment, its your tournaments.
Both of you are new to this and your tournaments are of low quality. I cant blame you for this, you have to start somewhere. What I DO blame you for however is the AMOUNT of tournaments you guys start with no experience whatsoever.
If I were you, Id concentrate on 1 tournament, give as much info on the rules and restrictions as you can (remember, YOU manage your OWN tournament, so do it right), and take all advice you can from the more experienced members. This first tournament of you guys will be flawed, of course, but itll help you becoming better.
I am focusing just on the 1 now- The Challenge Belt. Unfortunately someone (Cough-Mark-Cough)replies to the old ones, so they go back to the top of the Fanfic section, despite me having said it was cancelled
okay, very well
if The Challenge Belt is your only tourney atm, Ill give you some tips there, and Ill probably enter it too
Go ahead Martijn. Come and have a go if you think youre hard enough! = Nitro-Gene 4.0 is the current belt holder, and I havent had a fanfic battle against you since Daves return tourny. It should be good :proud:
O, one last thing
Robots with 0 ground clearance all over cant move
Have a nice day :proud:
*coughtrackscough*
of course thhe ground clearance under the wheels is always 0 :P
I know, just testing you...:P
As much as I encourage newcomers, and the fact that a lot of people have recently discovered vapourbots out the blue is great. But Im afraid, particularly the latest editions (Liam and Mark) have a long way to go.
Martijn couldnt have said this much better. There is nothing wrong with you starting a tournament. But there are a number of steps you should take in doing this. I€™ll try and give you guys some pointers€¦
1) Have a practice writing a fight and post it here for comments, feedback and possible improvements. Not too long ago Joey came up with a good idea of making a practice battle using his own vapourbots. This not only allowed him to practice his battle writing abilities and prove himself, but it also gave us a better understanding of what his vapourbots are intended to do. I highly recommend trying this.
2) Then start a tournament, a small tournament which we define as a €œminor€ which may consist of maybe 8 robots. Complete this tournament as straight one on one battles, which should give you around 8 attempts at writing a fight. If this is a success, move on to a bigger tournament, this time using maybe 16 robots.
3) In doing so, please take a look at how tournaments are started here. Take a look at the first few posts in some tournaments and see what they ask for. This usually involves giving details of the rules, weight limits, format, arena and so on. I highly suggest looking at some of the better tournaments in the archives and see how they start things off.
4) Also, battles are supposed to be full written commentaries and descriptions of the battle. People are not interested in one-line summaries of the results. Once more, see how people write battles around here and take inspiration before writing your own.
5) Keep to just one tournament at a time. Fair enough, the likes of Kody and Martijn have a few tournaments running simultaneously, but that is because they have the experience and the qualities to do so. I€™m not joking here, I have become lost in this section the past couple of days because of the amount of tournaments. Between the two of you I can count 6 new tournaments in the past few days. Forgive me if I am wrong, but none of them seemed to be started, written or explained in the right manner. They also seem, to me, to all be pretty much the same.
6) This isn€™t so bad, but it€™s still a little hate of mine. I for one am certainly not fond of real robot tournaments. I believe most of the new tournaments have eventually allowed the use of vapourbots, so good. But still, people are here to try out their own designs.
For battle writing skills, I€™m not much good myself, so have a look around. I suggest you write your battles in a Word Processor, which also eliminates and spelling and grammar errors and makes battles easier to read and understand. I always aim to write at least one page in a Word document, however this is obviously variable. A quick match can be half a page, while a full 5-minute or longer match can be a few pages in length. I once made a point about giving all robots involved a share of the action and advantage in a match. However Frank quite rightly corrected me by saying, €œwhat if that match included MDU?€ So take that rule lightly.
I believe that is all I wish to say about battles for now. My other concern is about vapourbots and stats. First and foremost, look at how people present their stats. They are often variable but include largely the same stuff. The more information you give a writer about your robot, the more that writer can understand the robots capabilities.
Unfortunately, the daunting aspect of vapourbots for beginners is the research aspect. You will probably have to take time looking around at parts and understanding what does what and to what extent. However, this soon becomes common knowledge and you can learn it all off by heart. For those bits you don€™t understand, we are here to help. That is the purpose of this thread.
This is our sick and twisted idea of having fun. :proud: Occasionally, things pop up like Andre€™s €œdouble the weight limit€ tournament and Mark€™s €œinvent your own parts€ tournament which can be a laugh. But in all seriousness, we are here to test our ideas. We are attempting to stay with reality, using what we really could use if we had the funds and resources available. We are not going to make up our own elements, we live on Planet Earth (well, outside of our alter-egos ) and use what is available to us. It€™s sort of €œif you could make any robot, with any available parts and no restrictions to money or tools, what would you do?€ This of course is within rules and regulations, weight limits and things which actually exist.
Take a read through the archives. Learn some history of the €˜sport€™, learn how to start a tournament, learn how to make a Vapourbot, research parts. I can assure you it will all be worth it in the end. I hope this can be of some help to you€¦
Very well said AJ. *applauds*
AJ has just nailed the gold here. :)
Yeh I know, I agree totally but IVE sorted it out now.I would delete the old threads but unfortunately theyre more than ten minutes old
We just need to let them die then, nobody posting to them after theyve become irrelavant...
And regarding your vapours, if you post them here in the standard format we can look over them and offer constructive criticism for you. The standard format is something like this:
