only at events that have carpets. wonder if you could buy steel capped slippers john. you got a pair of pink pom pom slippers babeth. :)
Would it shock you when I tell you that at my final exams at a Dutch high school I forgot to put on my shoes and went with my pom-pommed slippers instead ?
Passed that exam with flying colours too...
Now, if I could find a new pair of steel capped shoes for a reasonable price (size 4) I would paint my old pair pink, and glue some pom-poms on it.
After all, us roboteerettes have a reputation to uphold !
I will help ya find some :P HAHA

Hello folks
well low and behold i did it, 40 days without alcohol, would of posted monday but had an incident walking home with the girlfriend, where a few youths thought it was fun to throw fireworks out of a car, typical craig i got hit on my shoulder luckily my jacket saved me from being burnt, theres a reason i wear leathers. how ever the bang was enough to deafen me in my right ear dont know just yet if its permenant. will find out when the swelling goes down
god bless Luton
Youre still to wait until Sunday !! Otherwise it wouldnt be a real Lent fasting.
But hey, congratulations so far. How many kilos did you lose ?
And get well soon. Its a scare to have something happening to your ears but usually the damage is not permanent. Or else, take it from someone who is partially deaf, youll get used to it.
so graig when we eventually go for a beer, when its your round, its not going to fall on deaf ears now is it...... craig its your round get the beers in
eh sorry didnt hear you
im on to you mate :)
actually its from shrove tuesday to palm sunday easter sunday isnt the end of lent as i was taught
what was that Shane i heard something about beers and around?
Craig, Its not a firework that is supposed to make you deaf!!!
You might be in trouble Craig...
From Wikipedia:
In Western Christianity, Lent is the forty-day period (or season) lasting from Ash Wednesday to Easter or Holy Thursday (in the Roman Catholic Church).
Easter always falls on a Sunday between March 22 and April 23, roughly corresponding to early spring in the Northern Hemisphere. A simple formula to know the exact date is that Easter falls on the first Sunday after the first full moon of the Spring Equinox. Ash Wednesday, which may fall anywhere between February 4 and March 10, occurs forty-six days before Easter, but Lent is nevertheless considered to be forty days long, due to the fact that Sundays in this season are not counted among the days of Lent.[citation needed] The traditional reason for this is that fasting was considered inappropriate on Sunday, the day commemorating the Resurrection of Jesus.[citation needed]
Lent is a time of preparation for Holy Week, which recalls the events linked to the Passion of Christ and culminates in the Easter, the celebration of the Resurrection of Jesus Christ.
From this page:http://www.kencollins.com/holy-04.htmhttp://www.kencollins.com/holy-04.htm
Lent is a forty-day period before Easter. It begins on Ash Wednesday. We skip Sundays when we count the forty days, because Sundays commemorate the Resurrection. Lent begins on 21 February 2007 and ends on 7 April 2007, which is the day before Easter.
In the Roman Catholic Church, Lent officially ends at sundown on 5 April (Holy Thursday), with the beginning of the mass of the Lord€™s Supper.

Originating in the fourth century of the church, the season of Lent spans 40 weekdays beginning on Ash Wednesday and climaxing during Holy Week with Holy Thursday (Maundy Thursday), Good Friday, and concluding Saturday before Easter.
You see, always consult several sources before making such a serious statement.:proud:
I was raised by nuns, hence my almost encyclopaedic knowledge of matters Catholic.
And especially of how many days Lent takes. I hated giving my daily allowance of sweets away to the poor children in Africa during Lent. And I never gave my sweets away at all. The nuns frigging took it.
as long as i get me an easter egg i dont care when it is. nice big easter egg mmmmmmmmmmmm chocolate. i think its all becoming commercialised too. an advert was on last night advertising to buy a game of monopoly or cludo ect with easter eggs. chocolate monopoly yes. :)
mmmm chocolate :) whos to care about all the religious do-da when theres so many thorntons bunnies around :)

craig get your ass down your local and buy yourself a nice cool crisp delicious full pint of carling cold and sit yourself in a corner near the tv and enjoy. feel like a man once more. :)

but Babeth is right best go to Sunday.
total weight lost 17KG, IQ improved 24 points jean size dropped to 32 from 36, none of my clothes fit me now but hey
all that said i still want a beer
Just 3 more nights and you can splurge all you want on your beverage of choice. Lent is all about hardship and overcoming the urges. The reward is one more step forward to having the body of a young god.
By my previous post you could have guessed that Lent is not my thing (which wont prevent me from encouraging others). The nuns certainly took all of my possible motivation out of it long ago by their sound pedagogic actions !
The only part of Lent I still observe is not to eat meat on Good Friday. But thats only because my dearly beloved Momma would kill me if I didnt.
blue blue blue blue blue blue blue blue blue blue blue blue blue blue blue blue blue blue blue blue blue blue blue blue blue blue blue.............................................. .............................. .................................................. .............................. .................................................. .............................. ................................................ £250,000 ooooooohhh.............LOL
Are you drunk Mr. Swan? :proud:
no mr kody i am perfectly sober......which could be the scary thing. it was an episode of deal or no deal i thought was very funny at the time. still do :)
Ahh, I get it. :)
there 47 days as of midnight tonite that better? lol
Well done ! Has it become a habit now ? :proud:
yea actually it has dont intend to drink as much as i did before but will drink in a stricter moderation, right after this pint
Babs
I also observe the none eating of meet on Good Friday and have done so for over 20 years
i have the upmost respect for the believers in such things but myself think it funny that in the time the earth has been here and the human race has roamed the earth and that time and space are infinate.......not eating meat on good friday....not for me mate give me a bacon butty any day of the year. living in a seaside resort also makes it very difficult to walk past the burger and hotdog stalls. :) mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmburgers and hotdogs
Yeah, I guess for someone who lives at the seaside not eating fish for once in a year must be a true hardship.
The thing with Lent and/or Good Friday is, you observe it voluntary. Some do it for the character-building aspect, some genuinely believe they are honouring or remembering the life and death of the God-Son, and some think its just a nifty way to remind yourself that what is missing is more appreciated. Being more inclined to the Wicca ways I go for the last option. But, also being a dutiful and loving daughter (who wants to live for another day) I obey my mother and she is the one who is going to kill me if I dont honour Good Friday.
Oh, and the cats just love Good Friday. For some strange and obscure reason solely known to those of the feline persuasion obviously.
I went to two barbecues on good friday. The only ritual i observe is not eating any easter eggs until easter sunday, whereupon there is something of an easter masacre.
and my 16 month old son Leo has got 7 milky bar easter eggs. he is so not going to eat all them. and no nor will i before you all just to assumptions. now if it was an easter bag of crisps then thats a different matter, crisps being my ultimate weakness............shane go into that haunted house and stay there all night long by your self.......NO WAY......would you do it for a bag of crisps......YES WAY!!!!!!!
What flavour are the crisps Shane? :)
Crisps, Shanes Scooby snacks. :)
any flavour will do. top of the list at the moment are them new salt and vinegar walkers baked. then beef discos then beef space raiders, i could go on but bottom of the list would be spicy monster munch. :)
Mmm...Im hungry now.
