Gold star Ewan.

Mr Stu
Has an impartial judge been chosen yet? If so, who?
If so.....does it matter?
lol, good point Karoline :) but better safe than sorry... maybe itll be Stu
Well yes i think it matters, its a proper championship. I believe the judge should be impartial.
Ewan- Dont think stus going be doing it for other reasons.
I wont be at the UK Championships until Saturday and Sunday. So have fun in your heats, the arena will go easy on you, but wait till Saturday and Sunday, ill return! Mahahha.
As for the judging, thats for Jonno to say during your briefings, along with other main details.
Mr Stu
The question was:
Has an impartial judge been chosen yet? If so, who?
The point is, if they are impartial, who cares who it is.
....and I do mean they insofar that it may be more than 1 and/or they may change from day to day. BTW I have no insider knowledge so dont ask :)
:)
Dave, the information I last had when I asked what that no judge that has been asked has yet accepted.

Hhhhhhmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm :)
i will judge for my own fights - Jonno? :)
I guess my prediction for KR3 to be in the finals wont happen then
At least Stu can claim to have a truely spinner-impervious robot - it might be the only one left in one piece by the end of the week :)
Is there anyone who can tell me how to get to Kettering for the championships? I do not yet have a driving license and need to use public transport.
Also, as I am a roboteer of sorts, am I allowed into the pit area ? I should imagen the answers no, for security, but cant hurt to ask, got me into the robot area at RIAT 2005 (Thanks Ian Lockhart :))
If you are not competing you will only be allowed into the public area of the pits. That goes too for competitors for entry on days they are not competing.
(from Event Rules on the Roboteers Section of the RR website)
Im sure someone has replied to the public transport question earlier in the thread
Before you all start disappearing off to the champs, Thought id wish you all good luck. Some will need it more than others from what i cant gather.
For those that couldnt make it, get the video camaras rolling!
GOOD LUCK
Glen
thanx they will need it ;)
Many thanxs - good luck to everyone

The arena was 75% completed when I left Kettering today.
Gas and seating arrived
1st Roboteers have also arrived and were put immediately to work. All were smiling and looking forward to the event.
LOL, roboteers not working untill early hours the night before? whats going on there then!!!!!!!!!!!!
James and I are still slaving away on our robots, with lots of work to do. Hopefully it will be ready for painting tomorrow evening. Still soldering, making selfrighter work properly, making sure things work and trying to get more than a few feet of signal! Just ran a coax wire through the inside of the bot and linked to the negative inside the receiver and i looks promising, but i need to get rid of the whole ariel and attach it to a boat arial lol.
Hi guys
Can somebody please give us a lift from our hotel to the event on the day we arrive , and perhaps a lift eveymorning to the event and back to the hotel in the evening ?
We will be at Kettring train station on Thursday at 2:30pm but will get a taxi to the hotel . Is it ok if i come on the thursday just to check everybody out ?
Its difficult enough that my mother cannot drive but its even worse when you are in an unknown country
LOL at Ewan! LOL!
Alistair you are more than welcome to come any day you wish to see how it is and so on. As its been stated, you will not be allowed in the PITS on a day your note competeing due to safety and room and so on. But there is a roboteers only area for watching the fights which you are more than welcome to bee there, see what its all like and watch.
Like i said i wont be there all week until Saturday/Sunday due to working in other areas of Roaming Robots at the moment, in hotel at mo half way across the UK.
I was at Kettering on Sunday to help, well stand and point lol coz i was tired from long driving.
Last i spoke to Jonno, a judge for the heats has not been organise yet, well it was but problems always arise. But for Saturday and Sunday when things are more important - i think the general word on the street at the camp was ill be the judge during the Quarted and Semi and Grand Finals.
Good luck to everyone in your heats, have fun in the tamed arena, wait till i get hold of it on the weekend. Im sure ill see all the fights that David Young and Dave Findlay are filming when i get hold of the footage when creating/editing the 2006 UK Championships DVD, so i wont miss your heats.
Mr Stu
Heavyweight ready to go, and 3 days early :)
im still at the workshop, just welded up the self righter. problems with signal are still there, i cant get more than a few metres of range using duel conversion!! hopefully sorted it out in the next 3 hours before i leave :)
Antenna too short? Antenna under metal? No caps on motors?
Do you have dual conversion crystal in the receiver?
yep, im running coax through the whole inside - then a boat arial on the outside. The coax is also grounded to the negative of the receiver!
I am using duel conversion crystals and the transmitter is often used in my plane so that deffinatly has good range, the receiver is used in the RoboKits and deffinatly works fine . My DX6 should have come by now but it hasnt! Im going to go and make an aluminium case around the receiver and put it right next to the outer arial and hope that helps.
How long is the r/x wire in total? r/x wire coming out of the r/c + coaxial then into the boat ariel base.
We have the same setup in Turbulence and we made the length between the r/x and boat ariel mount 1/4 wave length and its worked fine.
we found that the following helped:
keeping signal wires away from power wires
where they have to cross make them cross at right angles
fit ferrites the wires that enter the mixer/speed controller
Just to remind peope of todays line up posted previously by Jonno

Well we had a good day at the event. Results are
Pod A - Terrorhurtz
Pod B - Storm II
Pod C - Turbulence
Pod D - TAN
Im afraid I dont know the Feather results, do know Ploughbot went out though as Grant told me.
Storm II ran well, new arm is vastly improved and seems capable of lifting two robots at once. Won all our competition fights, and two of the three whiteboards of the day :) so Im hoping that weve cured our reliability demons for now !
Only downside was the arena roof does appear to leak making for a rather damp arena floor experience ;)
Will be back on Saturday, am sure others will soon post their thoughts and results as and when !

Thanks Ed, good to hear things are going well!
Hi, hope you now have better arena security, after I walked in between events on Wed.
I was stopped by someone in a security shirt, but not until I had got up to the barrier at the edge of the pits, and been in the area for about two minuites.
TO Annes (Team Mad) husband, [sorry forgoten your name].... As I said last year, I made a kite out of one of the bags you sell. I left it and 12 copies of instructions on how to make it, with your wife. Sorry you wernt there so I could give it to you myself. Hope you have a good event. Will probably see you at some other event some time.
