We had 6 of us at the Yorkshire FRA Social at the Sun Inn in Flockton on 24th September. Most of the time we chatted generally about robot things. However we did discuss the vacant position of Chair of the FRA, and said that Geoff had done a good job. The less good news is that there were no takers for his position.

I picked up a tip to wrap insulation tape around my magmotors if they tended to rotate in their clamps.

We watched some entertaining robots fights on Graemes mobile phone. Amazing what you can store on a mobile phone these days!

The evening ended with people looking at the body of my new robot in the back of the car. It will get finished ASAP! I want to see it working.

The next regional social may well a Christmas one, organised by Trevor Wright. It could be be a joint affair half-way between Nottingham and Huddersfield. Well tell you as soon as it has been sorted.

Sorry for the delay in replying. The Christmas get-together with the Nottingham crowd fell through Im afraid.

Im in Shanghai at the moment. You could organise a Yorkshire FRA Social yourself. If you make it in the first 2 weeks of February, Ill be there (before I return to Shanghai). Otherwise it wont be until Im back in England permanently, probably in April.

PS. Youve got the address and phone number of the Sun Inn further up this thread. Of course you can locate it anywhere you like. Flockton was chosen to give reasonable access for people from both West and South Yorkshire (and points further South).

I you do arrange it, post a note of this thread on the forum and Ill be happy to circulate my list of past attendees.

bugger its the raf fairford event that weekend and i will hopefully testing sf2 then, so if i dont get sf2 done i will be coming, but if i get it done then not, sorry

Hi Roboteers,

I have received a lot of feedback from people who would have attended the Yorkshire FRA Social on 15th July, except that it clashes with the Fairford event which they are attending.

I think that it would be a good idea to postpone the social until after the Summer break. Between mid-July and early September there will be many families away on holiday and of course there is the big event at the end of August. So I am proposing to make the date Saturday 16th September at 7.30pm. I have checked that the Sun Inn is available that day and have transferred the booking to that day.

Do let me know if that date gives you any problems. I will circulate a proper invitation nearer the day.
