Roaming Robots / Robot Rampage, Newark 19th / 20th June 2004
quoteFans are still welcome without a robot, but have to pay to get onsite (unless youve persuaded me youre a big enough groupy to earn a pass)./quote
Is the pass for being allowed to join up with the roboteers backstage, after the days action etc. or just for turning up and watching the show?
Ive never been to a live event before so I dont know whats what, and Ill need to know before I plan the trip.
(btw, what do you have to do to be a big enough groupy?)
Roaming Robots / Robot Rampage, Newark 19th / 20th June 2004
This event is different to most in that people pay at the Showground Gates to see Kit Cars, Trade Stands and Auto Jumbles - and our Robot Rampage is side show held within one of the halls (at no additional cost).
Most exhibitors (which includes roboteers) camp onsite and drink their club beer around their club club bbqs. After the public have gone home, theres a nice family atmosphere across the grounds - and big social in a great clubhouse.
Showground passes are given to exhibitors via the club or association that they represent. They are per car + all ocupants and worth about £15 for the weekend (daily rate is a little more).
A neat way to get in cheap is to arrive in an unusual (special) car. These + 1 occupant are given free entrance on the gate and encouraged to park within the display areas.
Robot spectators are invited to hunt us down and hang in our hall as long as you want. Youll not be allowed pitside unless you have a seperate Roboteer pass (allocated by Roaming Robots when you book in a working or display robot). Mail me direct if you dont have a robot - but want to camp over.
Now - as for defining a Groupy . . . .
Kev :)

So basically Id have to pay in at the Showground gates (how much is it?) and then I can watch the battles, do that pay-to-drive thingy if I want and hang out in both halls (roboteer and spectator), but not the pits.
(as Ill be coming as a member of the public - unless being a diehard fan and forum regular says otherwise... - and stay overnight somewhere in the town)

Youve got that part right Stephen, perhaps we both should dressed up in foil, then Kev might just let us in...
And no, you cant stick me in the barby, Im only ickle!!! Put Stephen in, he sounds much bigger than me! *chuckles*
*starts looking for Shauns old pass*

Will that tablefootballthingy be there again ? I would love to beat the lads again and see their sad faces ! And yes, I will think of bringing along some earplugs. Just in case.
As for the car... ah well... I dont suppose our not-so-new recently purchased deukendoos would qualify for unusual car now would it ? http://users.pandora.be/P3/PQB1.jpghttp://users.pandora.be/P3/PQB1.jpg
The nickname translates as dented box (the other side is really worse for the wear, if you want to see the disaster area just change to PQB2.jpg).

Can you also add Trilibium to the list of feathers, he will be traveling up and camping with me once again,
thanks

Hope to have the tablefooty Babeth :) (Shane can you help again ?). Now - I can see that deukendoos really is a Kit Car! - but its not quite what the promoter was hoping to attract onsite  :)
Grant - Ive added Trilibium to the list. Please remind me of the owners name and email (to make sure hes on direct distribution of info).
On that subject - general arrangements are being finalised tomorrow. Ive got a newslletter prepared which includes an note to send back as Confirmation of Application - and will send them out over the weekend.
Looking good,
Kev.

Would a 1966 Ford Zephyer 6 MkIII Police car with full lights/siren/signs be classed as unusual enough for you? Only original one left running! with a 60s caravan to camp in.
