Thought you said he was wearing a gorrilla suite?
lol - wish id pulled the mask down for that picture
Shell pretty much finished now;

It looks good dave, but I fear one good whack and the shell will bend on its mountings or shift, locking the wheels or at least resist them, there is no leeway in those wheel wells.
.................what daves trying to say is it should be fine, its got 2 on the front scoop area and 1 on each side i wouldnt have thought it would end up moving tbh
Even if the shell did bend enough to catch on the tyres, with the power of the motors it will just shred the tyre not jam up.
doesn't matter Tron is going to win :uhoh: :mrgreen:
Bring it craig! :angry: lol
Dave- should be ok, if it rubs ill file it out a bit but i prefer the look of having them to a tight tolerance. Also it helps to prevent nuts and bolts etc flying into the robot.
:mrgreen: Looking forward to the humiliation that will inevitably come my way :uhoh: :uhoh: :uhoh:
modified a Sam Smith link mount today to have an integral power LED, thought it was a decent mod other people might like to try, only cost a few penny's;

doesnt look very bright in the pictures.. but its a superbright LED bored into the nylon mount. lights it up quite brightly.
Its finnished :)

Motors do get a bit warm...
since im not having a weapon i figured i got to put something brushless in there somewere...
http://i685.photobucket.com/albums/v...s/cfac4262.jpg
Sorting out using this EDF brushless jet fan as a cooling unit.. think im going to put the fan into a manifold then drill and tap an M5 hole into the dewalt motors... have some pneumatic pipe and have the jet blowing air into the motors directly... Wont be done this side of the UK champs though.
nice work :D :D :D
Got bored...
Masked it out and put on a layer of white primer;

Done;

No prizes for guessing who i stole the paint job off :proud:
it looks well good!!
looks good :mrgreen:
Ken Block robot nice.
dont know if this is stupid but what weight class? feath or mid?
featherweight, but it has magnets holding it to the floor so it is like the weight of 50kg
In theory.... in practise it just blew the motors up :(
Not sure if im going to put it into low gear (about half speed) and sell it...
Or fit a set of speed 900's with some 16:1 banebots gearbox's.
... got a new esc for 360, so im going to get that running again and see how i feel after that lol.
What would be the advantage of fitting Speed 900's over the Dewalt motors you currently have in there?
Reliability.
Id make my own gearbox's for them, running them on around 12:1 to give a decent top speed, it would be comparable to bonx then... the dewalts to be reliable in a 6wd robot would need to run in low gear, meaning it would be 1/3rd of the speed it was at the uk champs.
Which wouldn't be anywhere near as much fun :)
Would probably smell a bit nicer though.
It was blinkin' fast though! I thought the video (I missed it in it's prime on the Friday) was sped up when I first saw it.
Put it into low gear- seems ok, not as fast as it was, but motors dont get warm even with me standing on it...
Got bored of having just a pusher...After seeing how effective bonner was ive decided to squeez a brushless beater on the front, using parts i can interchange between 360 and 540...
http://i685.photobucket.com/albums/v...s/d670a746.jpg
Ive drawn all the components up on cad and sent them to tom armitage whos going to cnc some bits up for me.
Should be around 2kg @7000RPM
Looks awesome! Even the Bitza guys every now and then envy a CNC machine.....
nice, you still keeping the hardox shell or you gonna have to go for something lighter
thanks for the comments..
Probably hardox front and sides and titanium lid, ill see how much weight ive got left :)
How clean and perfect the thing looks still surprises me. I would put clear armour of some sort on it just to be able to admire the innards! Really lovely bot, now with death blade of destruction. Me likey. :D
:shock:
oh
bugger
i want to fight it :twisted:
a bit bored... so heres an update on the little ive done;
Capacitor mod done on my brushless esc...should help smooth the voltage ripple and voltage spikes going into the esc...

http://i685.photobucket.com/albums/v...s/fef2c74b.jpg
Cads of the plans for 540.... think tom armitage is cnc'ing the beater for me.
http://i685.photobucket.com/albums/v...nbeatercad.jpg
http://i685.photobucket.com/albums/v...nbeatercad.jpg
....next update when the parts are made.
Beautiful
That will totaly destroy LASER (only if the magic smoke doesn't come out of it!)
will it still be able to run inverted?
yup.. will run on all 6 wheels upside down....Wont be that dangerous...not as good as bonner on the current gearing giving 7000rpm, but if i change it slightly to give a disc speed of 14000rpm it could potentialy be quite good.
that is going to be one scary bot to go against once its compleat
I need to get a beater 8)
any update on your bot?
