Robo Challenge Tag Team Champs & Power Tool Drag racing!

Next year spinners will dominate. The next generation of spinner is upon us. People are already becoming scared of spinners, I mean lets take 360 for example, probably one of the most feared fw robots ever... And its not even finished. How about Hornet 2, look at the destruction that robot has caused, And thats nothing compared to what Garys new spinner is going to do. Guess us spinner lads are going to have to stick together, I think we got somthing to prove now. Then we can have our vertical vs horizontal war

We need some way of keeping our spinners in the arena. Both Savage Evo and 360 have thrown themselves out of the arena so far.

If it's not spinning, Its not winning.

What a great week-end we had. Shame about the mosfet going on Little Spinner which completely fried the batteries for the weapon. We didnt do as well as hoped on the dragsters but Graeme and Mark have big ideas for next year, with possibly even a sit on if we can get sponsorships. Well done to all the winners and a big thank you for Robo Challenge for putting on the event.

I was gonna say that's why vertical is better, because you can't throw yourself out of the arena. But then I remembered Hornet's done that twice already so I guess that puts paid to that theory :lol:
Think magnets is the way to go, especially since the only spinner-safe arena has a metal floor. It worked well for 360 in March, the only drawback being its drive motors didn't have enough grunt to move the extra downforce.

Its time for the next generation; 2010, a new decade, a new spinner era. Although I'm realistic enough to know that our new spinners probably won't work perfectly at their first event, if we can find any problems and eradicate them quickly then we'll get a winning spinner soon.

I'm not scared of 360 but I am impressed by it and love to watch and fight it. :mrgreen:

I had a great time, i should of done the drag racers years ago! Plenty of ideas to improve it for next year, and will certainly be bringing a ride-on. Well done to the winners of the Tag Team, time for a new G3 i think though!

Better spinners? Outstanding! Bring them on. And let's hope for a second arena that can safely hold them so we can get more competitions open to all weapons.

Some nice comments about 360 :) thanks guys. Its got a new sharper harder heavier disc rim being made, the new speed controllers and BEC are already on there way :) just need to order the gears for the arm and send of my H5's to Dave gamble for modifying still and ill be back in buisness!

Clive you have no reason to fear 360, tiny toon is the only robot to of caused any damage so far.. in that fight when my disc wouldnt work you managed to snap my grade 5 rear titanium axle- do'h!

I think these ride on's are really going to take off soon- im working on a sponsorship deal with cadburys at the moment to see if i can build one for next year.

I think that's because the one run of yours when it did work which coincided with me having my video camera with me was one of the times when, by the time I had turned my camera on and it was ready to film, your dragster had already reached the end :P

Just been to see the Robochallenge guys at the Maker Fayre in Newcastle.

We were talking to Grant about Stagefright when a wheel fell off one of their Power Tool Dragsters.It was broken beyond repair.
