Ewan, from the RR website;

The 8 finalists each day, will fight it out in the last show, to give us 4 winners per
day.
2 Semi finals will take place on Saturday 26th August of 6 robots each, giving us
2 winners from each.
4 finalist will battle it out in the last show to give us our UK Feather Weight
Champion.

Eight way melees :uhoh:

right so in 1 day I could possibly have 3 battles with the heavy and 2 with the feather. This is gonna be fun! :)

Summary of FW competition

Round 1
Each day 2 x 6-way melees - 4 from each melee go through to next round later that day.

Round 2
8 winners from last round (yes 8-way melees!)
fight it out during the last show that day - 4 go through

Same format for 3 days (Weds/Thurs/Fri) so 12 robots go through to the semis

Semis
2 x 6-way melees - 2 go through from each

Final
4-way melee

BTW has the camping info gone out?

With eight way melees I think we need five minutes!

I was going to bring a small genorator along with me, is it worth it?

Like you said the other day Grant, it may be useful on the campsite. Although obviously will not be a good idea to keep it running too late.

The the generator from the event is being took down to the campsite at night, but will be switched off later at night (Im assuming 11pm ish). We have never had a problem with power at Wicksteed, niether have we at any other event where weve be powered of a generator (apart from preston, but this was suppied by the organisers not Jonno). So unless you need power during the day on the campsite or at night in the pits, i dont see the need for it.

Ive finally moved all of my stuff in from outside whilst building new Merlin, getting fed up of rain flowing through my gazebo like a river!

The Snake on the plane has now landed in Daventry.

I would need power at the camping for my laptop. I use that old grey brick to collect my pictures on when the camera is full. And since we are not permitted to be in the pits on those days when our robot isnt in the match... :sad:

But are there more details on the camping site ? Will we have potable water available, showers, toilets ? Can we have our cars next to our tents ?

As you can imagine things are a little manic.

Finishing the new arena upgrades, maybe find time to put ripper together, Stu€™s on the holiday park tour, where the arena broke 2 days ago and I had to pick it up from great Yarmouth fix it over night ready for yesterdays show, last promotional bits, and I keep getting interrupted by people wanting to buy tickets. ( not that I€™m complaining ).


Some extra information, which will be sent in an email also tonight which will include a camping/car pass, which you will print out and stick in your car, this will give you access to wick steed park.
Cars can be parked next to tents.

We will have our own part of the camping field designated to us.
There will be a noisy, and quiet section to the site, please respect others when they want to sleep at night
Power will be supplied until 11pm, if other want to bring their own generators then I would advise they do so, but again be respectful with the noise.
Water will be available.
I have ordered showers to be supplied, they will arrive on Monday,
We are using wick steed toilets.


Each day you will be asked to arrive at 8am.
There will be a drivers briefing at 9am daily and fight order put on a notice board first thing after, so no excuses for not being ready in time.

Wick steed is very easy to find, from either direction pick up the brown Tourist information signs to wick steed which will take you there..

More to follow after today where hopefully everything will be ready to leave tomorrow.

Excellent update Jonno, we will be leaving to the UK sunday morning to visit some friends in Devon. They purchased a VIP ticket.. ;) anyway... see you on thuesday evening/wensday morning .. is the campsite already open on thuesday?

Would it be possible if we could leave Kronic up at Wicksteed in your truck from Wednesday night until the weekend please?

It would save us having to cart it back to Beer and up again on Saturday. This is all assuming we have no damage (which we possibly could have) and that we qualify for the weekend (which we hope to do). Cheers.

Campsite is open Monday onwards.

Idea for Kronic, leave you tent erected and store the robot inside.Take your tools home.
While it is not security ideal some of us have no option but to do this.I believe that Wicksteeds security will be keeping an eye on the campsite but nothing is perfect.

Though I should be around for all the other days, I cant make Wednesday so make sure you get some decent videos of all the fights!

I should hopefully get some good footage of the other days with my brand new camcorder (well its not mine - its my dads - but boy its a beauty!).

Just to let you know, I wont be camping, rather the opportunity to stay in a real bed and away from any enstranged portaloos (as those of you who watched the videos in the general chatter section a while back will know) at my grans is too good to refuse :wink:

Ewan, Dont worry about the filming, im filming it on my new 3CCD camera :)

I spent the day installing lovely new upgrades to dear old carrot.. bigger speedies, bigger ram, wider vales etc... and none of them worked, so were back to RW7 spec... except Ive welded the wheels on to avoid embarrassment!

As andy said, camping is available from monday, but if you come that early i guarantee you will be roped into helping with some painting.

Think thats about it, my list of things to do ( before wicksteed) is just about empty.
Tomorrow we load and leave, two trips with the full spec arena, ( thats why we dont do full combat all the time !!!! )

Then we start the list if things to finish and build and paint at wicksteed.

Jonno, since we are leaving today to the UK and we didnt receive a email yet with parking/access tickets i hope you can arrange something at wicksteed for us to get in. I will explained the guard that we are in for robotwars.. hopefully this will work out. anyways.. there shouldnt be a big problem i think. See you all there !
