Mind you, whether anyone would like to be in the company of a 5 year old in a car on a nearly 9 hour trip and coming back for him to face school the next morning is another matter hence reason for me not travelling up in my own car plus flights are far too expensive :sad:

on a lighter note this will be my last event till the new year by the looks of it, Im having an op on my ankle begining of November that will supposedly see me in hospital for a month then another 2 weeks in a wheelchair then not work for another 4 weeks

Just got back from Edinburgh and it was rather good. I must admit I partially felt like it was going to be the 7th war all over again after the first fight (OOTA fest) but I was pleasantly surprised when it wasnt. Fights of the night (and day) were Terrorhurtz/Thor/Velocirippa (show 1), Ripper/Ewe2/Merlin (show 1), Dantomkia/Terrorhurtz/Ripper/Big Nipper (show 2) and most of the feather battles. The new format works well, as each robot gets roughly the same number of fights with less chance of any re-matches (feathers aside, as more of them fight at once). The circular arena is pretty good, even though its unfinished afaik. (can it take heavy spinners as well as feathers?)
I couldnt see show 3 because I had to get home. Thanks to the guy who offered to show me round the pits (dont know who it was) and to everyone for a great show, see you all again at Doncaster.
(where I might have some questions, as Im starting the learning process for feather building)

Just got back. Good event and a good turn out for the distance. There was some weird man we meet in the service on the way back.
That would be me then Dave .........Unshaven and eyes on stalks after all the driving!
We enjoyed the event. Another 7 points in the bag :) . Although Ripper is going to take some catching. Another clean sweep for Jonno and Steve. How will we stop them (sweet papers and links springs to mind! LOL).
Ive just watched the EWE2, THZ, Chomps, and Velocirripa fight again. Dont beat yourself up Stu...as the rules stand I think you got it right. (The rules stink though!)LOL. THZ did hit us 11 times! (No damage caused) . Its something that could be talked about for the future as I think the audience were a bit bemused. Ill upload the video later to get other views.
Well done to THZ in that fight. The kid from the audience on the axe certainly has a future in the sport.
Im not bitter, just very twisted.

Edinburgh was loads of fun, not sure about the arena dancing though ;) thanks to everyone for a terrific weekend. Just got back home, Simon went paddling in the sea, in his shoes and in the rain this morning, nice end to the weekend.

enjoyed the weekend immensely. Unfortunately I have just lifted the lids off Velocirippa and the mouse and the damage is considerable.
I had a 250;1 ratio gearbox motor for vel steering, I have only found 2 out of the 24 gears (thanks chomp) and thx has smashed the steering mech on the mouse. Still thats Robotwars.

Soz Trev, you did say we couldnt damage you and to bite as hard as we liked. Debs says she feels awful now and is threatening not to chomp anyone else, so Ill be holding auditions at the next event (teehee) as you can imagine shes having a right wiggins now lol.
Sorry Trevor, we were trying to stay clear of the mouse. I found a part of a planetary gearbox - a pinion on a plate, with three pins. Let me know if you need it.

John, hold on to the gears please. If anyone else (Jonno?) have some of the other 22 gears I may be able to re-assemble it but I am not holding my breath

Trevor, I dont think I have ever met such a nice guy in all of my life as you. Or is it some form of phsycology (reverse or otherwise) intended to discourage people from attacking you in the ring.
Not a criticism, but an admiring (if suspicious) observation.

I thought wed signed up for the Worcester event but I cant see us in the updated attendance list for either heavies (Spearhead) or feathers (Arrowhead).
Is it an oversight Mr. Stu or did something go wrong with the system your end? I received the automatic response but I cant tell you when cause its on my home computer and Im at work now.
BTW were now only attending on the Sunday - if were in that is. :)

Fixed up rev3s motors today (and a spare, and a spare-spare) and found another problem.
When we burnt out the last motor, it caused a big nasty old short, which has blown practically everything on BOTH boards in the Vantec. Since we were already working off the spare, we have none.
Both are in the post today to Vantec, but It will mean that we will have to miss next weekends date, though hopefully not the next.
