Hope that guitar is not part of it!
would any kind person maybe have any spare NiMH or NiCAD batterys 12-18v going spare? or a couple smaller packs?
ML's have just been killed dead by a that bloody cheapy charger.
You competing on Friday or Saturday? If you're on the Saturday I don't see why you couldn't use our (with some luck) new battery packs. They'd be quite large, though, and a single pack just 2.5Ah. If not we have our dodgy drill packs which work perfectly well (they're just fugly), but they only come to 2.2Ah (paralleled that is, they're 1.1ish on their own).
Wouldn't be mad-expensive to get something, perhaps custom, from Component-Shop or similar. I'm sure people would part with chargers if need be, us included.
it would be mad-expensive considering i have very, very little money :)
yeah its saterday for me if you could i would be greatful!
i take it is break it i buy it?
It would have to be mate. The two came to £65, so let's just hope you don't break anything. :uhoh:
They will be quite large, though. 2x 15 sub-C cells doesn't = lightweight, either. We shall see on the day I suppose. Don't put all your eggs in our basket, as we may well break them before Saturday. I know we're perfectly capable of as much. :)
im using these http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2-x-Rechargea ... 366wt_1037 there quite cheep
wow! nice find, but its between 4 and 6 days delivery time, i'll order them and hope!
there the same 1s u can get from china just faster delivery :proud:
Please get hold of some batteries Harry! I can't go into the fight with both my robots in if your not even in there! I will be forced to just destroy my own bots :uhoh: I would offer my lipo but its in that fight as well and I don't have enough chargers for all my batteries so I may have too squeeze all amps out of it without a charge my self
i understood like half of that.....
mate, you're gonna have to kill one of you machines, cos i sure as hell won't be winning anything
JamesVenom, I don't mean to sound like a nag and I know you're busy, but did you get my pm regarding team members?
they will be at the NEC now so i doubt james will check pms, best to email or call
Beauty5 1st test drive @ ps it is in normal mode not speeded up lol
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ISyfUwpAKcY
Wow, very nippy! What drive arrangement is it using?
2 x speed 900 and a 18v lipo and a xxxl 100mm robochallange wheels gear 12 to pass have to count
WAS need a 1 x 900 magnet broke in the test when it hit the pit
Surprised it broke so easily.
I know there's still tomorrow and Thursday for info being published, but any word from anyone who's been at the NEC today regarding arrival procedure? Last year we had to go up to some car park in the middle of nowhere to get a pass to get through the barrier at the gate nearest the hall to be able to unload. Just wondering if it's a similar story this year and, if so, what car parks are the relevant ones?
On a side note, both our bots are combat ready and just require a final bit of paintwork. I even had time today to clean and prep my spare drill motors and other bits and pieces. I like being this prepared :)
EDIT: On another side note, got combat robots and the Gadget Show Live mentioned in a shout out on the radio this morning. Although with it being a small local station, it probably won't have served much purpose. But the DJ said she thought it sounded pretty cool :P
I don't know, but the NEC is always like that for exhibitors, you normally go the car park 12 to get a loading pass for hall 9 (where i had to go on Sunday).
Flows going to the champs un tested so hopefully be able to get it in the arena friday just to arm it up and get a test flip on low pressure. I dont know if the system is even air tight yet. Could do with a WB just to know if it can flip the weight of a featherweight on low pressure. Its got about a 99% chance of failure so it could be quite fun.
Has there been an official run down of how the event will run?
I can't remember what happens to the robots that qualify, plus there are a lot of new people this year.
Ten robots go through from the qualifiers.
They fight in five 1-v-1 battles, leaving five winners.
The five losers go into a big mele with one winner, who rejoins the others, leaving six robots.
The six fight 1-v-1s again, with three winners.
The three losers go into a mele again, with the one winner joining the remaining three contenders.
Then it's just 1-v-1s for the semis, 3rd place play-off and grand final.
Spot on Jamie thanks.
Leonardo yes thats all no problem
If you wish to unload equipment at hall 9 door 9.1 you will first need to get a loading pass from car park 12. Head to Gate 3 on arrival and say you are unloading for the Gadget Show and they will direct you to car park 12. Please arrive early as it can be busy to get passes.
Any other questions just fire them thisa way. I will be at the NEC during the days but will endeavour to answer questions as soon as possible.
Best of Luck guys!
Unlike Jamie, I'm not prepared at all, I still need to wire my whole robot up and will just hope it works
Is it possible at all to lathe hardox? We trashed two lathe heads and a milling cutter yesterday trying to lighten the disc!
Yes lighten, Conker is about 600g over weight and the only real place that we can take weight from is the disc, well maybe 300g, and then 300 in holes through out the bodywork :uhoh:
Blunted 3 and snapped 2 Cobalt drill bits yesterday trying to lighted Bitza so know how you feel...
Cheers Jamie! So there's a play off for 10th in the qualifiers, then a play off for 6th, and then another for 3rd......
2 of ours are ready to go- the other 2 still need wiring up and a couple of other little bits to finish them off.
Shockwave is as near as we can measure it 13.6kg and Inertia XL with the new batteries should be at least half a kg UNDER weight :)
Going to have a last rush today to get Lambda and Aftershock done to give us some time for testing tomorrow before we leave on Friday
Not done anything to Explosion, apart from the light repairs around September it's exactly the same as last year :)
We did have a look at the transmitter though, and found that the aerial had been twisted near the end of it's holder, can't believe I've been driving it with such a low signal for two years (since the case snapped off)!
So, that means that it should be flipping perfectly. Over the past few events we increased the flipper's sensitivity due to stray flipping in both the feather and the heavy, but it did mean that sometimes pressing the button wouldn't cause the robot to flip. Not got that problem anymore .
how the bloody hell am i only at 11kg?
what am i doing wrong :P
When you find out, let me know. Drumroll is about 11.5kg and Carcinus is lighter still :crazy:Quote:

Right!?!?
Also going to pop by the Coopers' workshop to get our forks back into... erm... shape. Or a better shape, at least. The dented buckled broken look isn't quite to our taste.
Tormenta weighs 13.2kg (ish) according to our bathroom scales. Don't know what we'll do if we find it weighs 15kg. Wish us luck, were going to need it to get it battle-ready in time (and to survive said battles).
6mm? are you insayun?
anyone reading lower than 8.3kg ?? :proud:
He has 6 and 10mm to use, just a matter of weight.
Your all lucky mine weighs 13kg without battery, loads of m12 nuts and invertable friction drive wheels! I sense it's time to make Swiss cheese! :uhoh:
Quit your whining!
Bitza is 16kgs! Anyone else had it that bad?
ps. Is there a LW comp running?......... :uhoh:
Bruiser 2 was worse than that with the spinning bar, so we didnt make it in the end and just made a wedge, but it's still to heavy amongst other things, like no speed controller or batterys, so it probably won't be running at the champ :( we will try and finish it, but probably won't he able to.
drop a set of wheels, go 2wd, with the weapon and sensible armour, should see you right.
Drumroll and Carcinus are both ready to go. Pictures in the build thread: viewtopic.php?f=240&t=3285&p=131947#p131947
Carcinus will also have an additional weapon fitted when fighting Chuck. Not saying anything more than that, but it's all legal. The main question is: I wonder what will happen when an unstoppable force meets an immovable object?
Don't have time, and some ESC have some how arived, and depending on what there like, we might be able to do something and get it vaguely driving.Quote:
