NEW ! Dutch full contact live event, 25/26 April 2009 !

Hello my UK friends :)

Im gauging interest for a Full Contact Competition weekend... Its the 18th and 19th of April, during an outdoor Speed&Fun event, and well probably have a big tent covering the pit area and the arena itself etc. Wooden floor, you know the type :)

Now, the problem is, in Holland well only be able to manage about 12 robots... So we kind of need you guys to make this a succes.
I know the last few events were all cancelled over here, but I have a hunch this one will make it...
Any takers ?

Sounds like a good one for SMIDSY. Would be interested but cant commit this early on until we see the full calender.

Also do you guys work to the same build rules and arena builds as the UK?

Me and a group of friends were considering going over to Holland in the Easter holidays and I was thinking I could tie it in to this but unfortunately our Easter holidays finish on the weekend of the 18th/19th so it would come just a little late for me :sad:

Andy, yes we use the same build rules and arena rules as with the FRA.

This is a serious possibility WJ is exploring, I really hope it pulls through.

Contrary to what Marien says, this is NOT a vapor event. If I cant get the Dutch guys support, Ill go for the roaming robots arena or something like that.
And for the record, Im gauging interest to see if an event is possible, because, as we all know, the dutch arent able to produce enough heavyweights to make a nice 2-day spectacle.

Nope, cant make it, my parents have only let me go to places like i just mentioned, and besides, FULL COMBAT, hardox spinners vs a 3mm aluminium Full-body hammer, NO CHANCE!

yeah posiibly looking at going to this one if its full combat. as from early 2009 i will be back doing some events. took 2008 out to spend alot of cash on my new crusher hw. decided to just go to someone with experiance and pay them to build it for me as they have extensive experiance in this field, its pretty nasty, and theirs one or 2 robots in particular im looking forward to fighting or destroying,
only really interest in full combat (unless im testing) as if its not full combat its not real/enjoying enough for me.
i like to see damage not flipping lol

great, unless something vibrates loose, a spinner wont do alot to me tbh, its a flipper im more bothered about coz their just a pain. just dont let me grab hold of you,on a couple of robots i WILL go for the speedo first if i know where it is, so make sure its buried deep inside and wont hold back even if i immobilise you, so please dont hold back on me if you take me out.
my robot will do the talking for me, dont need to post about it, will just turn up with it. i cant wait... just want to go after 2 or 3 machines, and watch their faces as i squeeze lol.

doubt beast will be getting a new speedo tho as we have learnt about hiding the speedos - u wernt around when beast and kan opener used to go full on even in friendlys - used to? we still do but ko just havent got passed our rubber mounts yet - were still waiting andy :) but were good mates with them so we like the fights

all of the beasts have been built to fight ko and then changed if they they can get us and then a new robot when there destroyed (and they have took out a few beast speedos lol)

whos building your robot? i can only think of 2 people who have made crushers which are top top top quality and thats andy and sam (theres prob more but im not sure but can think of people who can make top bots such as mario...)

and have you got any pics of the robot im going to flip out? atm i think beauty could prob beat it lol

you shouldnt really post saying that you will still kill a robot even when its immobilised, the fra wont like that and neither will the EOs... you should of just done it instead of saying you will as your prob not going to be able to do it now cus people will be knowing that your not going to stop and then just try harder and you will lose - but u wud prob lose anyway for bein 2 cocky

iv just had a thought about if it come back on tv - i would get my fights fixed so i get you in the 1st round so i can just dominate the fight and then flip you out the arena and as it will be on the tv i will be able to see your eyes just start to water and also get to see your bot oota - i would also have it on sky plus so when i want to av a laugh i can just have it on repeat all the time and have a nice big laugh every time watching it and when i have people round my house i wouldnt need to make them laugh to have fun they can just keep watching the fight themselves

Adrian, stuff like that really makes me want to build Gravity 5 and humiliate you. Especially because someone else built the robot for you. But what good is a robot hanging from the ceiling huh ?

Camping will be available on-site.
Regarding the Arena, Im trying to get the big DRG-Arena, but alas, not alot of feedback from that corner.

Can we get a list up please of people who are genuinly interested in coming over for this event ? That way I have something to show the main organiser of the Speed&Gein event.

wj please rebuild gravity 5, it would be a great pleasure for me to fight against gravity, even if i did lose. i have my own personal issues regarding a couple off peoples robots, that you lot know nothing about and these are the robots i wont hold back on.
i dont care about winning, never have, so if you beat me i wont really be that bothered, losing only makes me more determined,
been beaten before and will do again. if you dont hold back on my robot i would be offended, as to me robot wars was about destruction and should the eos and fra be offended by my comments then it shows how soft this sport has become in my opinion.
the crowd would rather see a smashed up robot, then just one thrown oota.

you dont need to know anything about it as your gonna batter it. we will see on the day coz when a few see it in action im sure it will worry them a bit.

thats ok mate, oota is a dull thing for me and doesnt even cause damage which is a bit dull, flippers are good, and oota was good for a while and still is occassionally, but nowadays theirs just too many of them and the only time i get excited is when i see a mental one like kennys.

and john you have been cocky in the past and won lol, so i will stick to being cocky as you havent done bad from it.

oh and their have been a few robots in the past that werent built from scactch, its no different to going to a company, get them to make all the bits and you just put it together, i chose this option as i wanted a winner.

also remember pussycat and razer, pussycat didnt hold back, and hynodisc didnt on a few robots, these just spring to mind im sure theirs more.

its completely different nowadays to then - we were making a tv show then now were just puttin shows on and do this every monthish - when rw was on it was like a once a year thing with a few little side shows

i dont need to be cocky cus beauty is the best and will be winning every main competition for a few more years :) iv won like the last 4 main comps or something so the stats prove this

no disrespect to the person whos making it though but its going to be one hell of a challenge to get better then the 2 best crushers which are ko and tib - and we all know how great mario is at making bots - hes made this beast 10 times better with the new ram - but the bot may be amazin but adrian will be rubbish at drivin it

once small part caused it to break, which is expected in a new build, especially in its first ever fight..it was built by mario so even the best people can get something wrong. what the problem was really was the belt couldnt handle the speed/friction of the motors. getting the right opportunity now i could make a mess of beauty with it on a good day.
and yeah you could flip me out of the arena, on a good day (but thats about all) .

it was interesting to see how many people crowded around the arena when i brought my spinner in, a few more than beauty lol.

what makes me laff the most is what your saying now everyone will remember on the day, so if i disembowl your robot the victory will be quite sweet, not that i was bothered about fighting your machine anyway. i will be looking straight at you the moment from when i immobilise you.
you havent even seen my new machine in action yet, if you had any idea how much it cost, and the engineering involved and the power it has i think you wouldnt be sooo arrogant. what can you do to me apart from chuck me around abit, and i lose with no damage, what have you got to lose? the fight and a wrecked robot lol.

im not looking to win anything, nor dominate, i just want to fight a couple of robots thats all.
so if i get my ass kicked in the meantime i wont mind, as if i fight these 2 robots i will have accomplished what wanted to achieve.

but dont worry if i beat you john, your dad can always build you a new robot :rofl:

adrian dont worry, u r going to get alot of damage and you will have to have another year off roboteering to pay for the costs of the damage - beast has cost us like £300 so i rly wouldnt be bothered if you killed us - we would have given up like 4 years ago when ko took out 1 of many speedos if we was bothered about damage

you wernt around when beauty was 1st made so you dont know what the others were like with it, every1 always wants to see how a new robot does - and im bored of beauty now that y we dont do anything to it anymore and have plans for better things so you would do us a favour destroying it but it wont be happening by you


so show us some videos then if its that good? we prob wont be seeing it for ages

Clive, there are small cabins for rent on-site.

Adrian, there have been quite a few robots damaged (read : damaged alot) from a flip from Gravity. Its not so much the flip that causes the damage, its the repeated landing from a few metres high that makes it interesting :)
