Well, since thier isnt many Feather Weight robot threads, i thought that id make one!
So, who are your favourite feathers?

Im not that big on featherweights, but I like Hannibalito 3 and Venom quite much. :)
To be honest, i love the feathers and heavys, but i think that the feathers are maybe a bit more, how do i put it, fun?
Really, with every featherweight fight, you can have your own mini rumble.
Its the exact equall to the end fights at the end of an RR event.
I just like them, but i also love the heavys.
The heavys are alot more crash and bash, just what we like, but the feathers can be fun to watch in my opinion.
I also like them because theyre much more easier to make than the heavys.
We cant make any heavys, because we have a very small workspace/storage space and the money.
We keep our bots down the garage, and we work down there aswell.
I would love to have a heavyweight, or atleast drive one! (Espessially Turbulance/Appocalypse, love that robot, drools)
Precisely, I like featherweights because I should be able to do most of the construction on my bedroom windowsill :proud:
Money though...not speaking from experience here (as always :P) but it seems that if youre particularly resourceful and have the right sort of stuff lying around you can build heavyweights for next to nothing, get old broken wheelchairs from dealers and adapt the motors/batteries/controller for your use, its how a lot of series 1/2 robots did it anyway and allegedly some of them cost next to nothing.
But I digress, favourite feather at the moment would probably be Crumple Zone, that thing looks...scary, among other things...awesome but scary.
Probly little flipper and little hitter cause there too dam reliable lol

My favourite featherweight would have to be Team Mads Omega. Love the rugged off-road look to it and to me it just oozes coolness. Plus Alexs crsuher above is looking quite formidable

Its not the money, its the space, and taking it to events, as our car has a small boot...
I was thinking along the lines of something like Tanto, small but powerfull, but no...
I like feathers anyway, if i wanted, i could make a feather in my bedroom, it wouldnt even show, my room looks like a roboteers worst nightmare workspace!

ROCS was a crusher, it was blue, took part in Robot Wars Series 7 Crusher Crunch-Up special event. (God im a nerd!)
Crumple zone looked great at the event, but after, not so good.

the arena flipper did the damage got flipped 3 times took the full force bent alot of steel, snapped a battery pack and ripped the linear actuator wires
oh well it will be running soon

Good point, although Beauty seems to excel at Robochallenge events!
Last three Ive been to (UK champs, Thinktank and Eurochamps) all won by Beauty - no fair :lame:

normally do better at RC events because i get bullied in fights in the big arenas!! :sad: although i did win winter tour last yr

Yay! Got Hunter working!
Speed controllers in, tested it on the garage floor, my dad let me ram him into his foot, and it hurt so our chances are good!
But the biggest relief has to be that i know that he can turn on the spot, as before we had to pich up a bit of speed before he would turn, as it is a skid-steer design (Like Tornado and Growler)
All we have to do know is test him out the back, and put a back on him.
Then prey that he doesnt come in over 13.6 kgs!

Tested Pug in my garage 2day, its running very well along with the lifter so Im dead chuffed, also everytime Jonno has had 2 help me get it working, he has told me what the problem was with it everytime, so I could be on the edge of being very good at making robots, who knows?:wink:
We finally finished Tidal Wave 2 and took it to Nottingham where it was absolutly rubbish, the flipper had hardly any power and the drive was really slow.
Im sure that the flipper problem could be solved by taking the ram apart to see why it kept sticking but the drive system really needs a new speedo so that the motors can be run at 24 volts.
If the flipper doesnt improve though then plans are already in place for Tidal Wave 3 or maybe even an axe which I have been planning for a while.

If U have an axebot in the future Matthew, take care coz they can be dangerous unless U know what ur doing. Also thoughts for a name for a future axebot to join ur army, what about Hunters Gun?
