Mini-Tournament!
Battle for the Challenge Belt!
The winner of this will b the holder of the challenge belt, then other people can challenge them.Enter vapours or real robots, robot wars (except for the moving weapon thing) rules apply. In the RW arena minus house robots
-
Mini-Tournament!
I 4got- 4 people enter 1 robot each
-
Mini-Tournament!
Ah well I guess nobody ever read this bcos of the boring title...If u r reading this now ur a bit l8 Im afraid but look out for a tourney started by me cos I gota an idea
-
Mini-Tournament!
Forget everything written in this post so far-
This was posted in my bad begining days, but I have turned it all around now.
I may as well use this thread anyway, so it wont waste. This tournament probably wont start until after Robot SMASH!! is over, or at least until after Heat H is finished.
This is essentially a chance for me to work on my writing skills, so Ill be taking my sweet time on the fights to try and make them really good if I can.
Rules
1) I need 8 people to enter 1 vapourbot each, if possible your latest new design, though if you have no new ones or dont want to enter the new one dont worry.
2) The tournament structure will be the same as the standard RW6 style heats:
2 x 4 melees, 2 robots go through
2 x 2 one-on-one battles
The play-off for third place
The final
3) 100kg for wheeled robots
110kg for shufflers/tracks
200kg for true walkers
4) Passive weaponry is allowed, no flying robots
5) Clusterbots are allowed, but there must be no more than 4 parts and if 50% is immobilised to whole squad is out.
6) The arena will be the RW7 arena to keep things simple, but there will be no house robots except refbot.
7) No crap please.
8) If (understandably) the tournament doesnt generate enough interest I will add the required amount of realies, but I will notify you of this long before I do it.
I dont think Ive forgotten anything. Feel free to ask questions.

Mini-Tournament!
Nitro-Gene 4.0 is faster, more dangerous and after gold in this tornument! Im looking forward to this Liam - youre fights are GREAT!
NITRO-GENE 4.0
€ WEIGHT: 100kg
€ ARMOUR: 5mm Hardox monocoque for the body. 6mm Hardox flipper. Inside the body, there€™s 1cm of Vulkanised rubber on the sides and rear, with 2cm on the front to help fight powerful spinners
€ SHAPE: Low invertible box with pointed sides and rear. At the front is a 42* wedge to aid in getting underneath other robots and deflecting hits from strong spinners. All the lines have been curved over to make it harder for a spinner to grab onto a panel and rip.
€ MOTORS: 4 x LEM 130€™s at 36V = 36HP
€ LOCOMOTION: 4 Vulkanised Wheels.
€ DIMENSIONS: (L) 90CM (H) 17CM (W) 70CM
€ COLOUR: Blue all over with the flipper coloured red with the name imblazed on the flipper (running down the robot) in gold writing with a thick silver outline. All the edges of the robot are coloured gold.
€ WEAPONRY: A full pressure Nitrogen powered flipper at 1000psi, using a single 80mm ram at 1000psi. The flipper is mounted in the middle of the robot, and is 20cm wide and runs 50cm up the body. Using a 3cm long Titanium strip underneath the flipper, and a heavy flipping arm, the flipper runs completely along the ground. Running on a ratio 2.2:1, the flipper produces 1600kg of force at the tips, allowing me to launch anyone away! This version has 2 x 3kg Nitrogen bottles, giving me 25 flips! The flipper has enough power to self-right Nitro-Gene in a super stylish 540* somersault!
€ SPEED: 22mph
€ GROUND CLEARANCE: 0MM-2CM. At the front, it is completely 0mm. On the sides/rear, its 2cm. The orginal weakness of Nitro-Gene (its high ground clearance) has been seen to by the skirts on the sides/rear. They are 5mm Titanium skirts and are joined together like BioHazard - at the corners - to make in near impossible for anything to get under them. To avoid them breaking off, they are held in place by Hardox hinges.
€ STRENGTH: Pushing power and weaponry.
€ WEAKNESS: High speed may mean difficult driving

The flipper has enough power to self-right Nitro-Gene in a super stylish 540* somersault!Ouch, my feather Hannibalito 3 does that and it shakes everything loose in there. Even the best shockmounting is not helping.
Looks cool though. :)
I would like to enter something new, but Im on linux at the moment and I hate Blender already. How people can make anything in that is beyond me. I will reboot to Windows later tonight and whip up something in Lightwave.
In short, save me a seat please?
-
Mini-Tournament!
Reserve me a place please - I have evil plans...
Edit: Evil plans have arrived...Ladies, Gentlemen, and Leo, I present to you...
...
The End
WEIGHT: 200kgs (walker)
DIMENSIONS: 95 x 50 x 25 cm
SHAPE: Box with front wedge
COLOUR: Pewter grey, with yellow and black hazard tape on the edges and It Is Time For The End written on the front in dark green
DRIVE: A hydraulically driven four legged walking system, using two short rams for each leg giving forward/back and left/right motion, powered at 3000psi from a 70cc 2 stroke strimmer engine
SPEED: Uh...it genuinely does move, lets leave it at that :P
GROUND CLEARANCE: 0 all around due to 4mm Hardox skirts, variable 10-15mm under those.
ARMOUR: 20mm Hardox welded monocoque, electrolysed with a layer of pewter
WEAPONS: Huh?
SRIMECH: None (the engine would stall anyways) but torsion sprung 4mm Hardox skirts hinged within the armour and protected by Kevlar fabric should prevent any flippage.
KILLSWITCH POSITION: In the top right hand corner of the top panel, beneath a 5mm Hardox cover held on by a pair of wing nuts. This is important because this means there is no link to be knocked out (its a petrol driven machine) and the killswitch could only be hit by a very precise and powerful axe.
NOTES: Is heavily shockproofed to prevent any damage from weaponry of all kinds, large or small. The base of the robot, as well as the feet of the legs, are coated in silicone rubber to give traction, and the robot has the ability to completely lower itself to the floor via remote control, which would make pushing it a task comparable to the labours of Heracles. Has a small Rattata Pokemon toy guarding the aerial.
STRENGTHS: Completely indestructible
WEAKNESSES: Cannot do anything offensively, would probably take the whole of the battle just to move to the start position, if the start position were very close to the entrance pen.

Mini-Tournament!
MEGA MASHER 2
Weight: 100 kilos
Body Shape: Minion with skirts.
Speed: 12mph
TC: 0
GC; 0 at front, 1mm at sides due to skirts, 10mm underneath.
Wheels; 4 inner.
Armour: A nice 3.25mm Hardox
Power: 3x 12v batteries, plus Bosch 750s at 36v.
Colour: Red and yellow.
Weapons; The front is a wedge, and the back has a nasty vertical disc, powered by its own LEM130 motor and spinning at 2000 rpm. It can probably flip as well as damage. A side Minion style bar, pneumatic CO2 powered, comes out from the side.
Srimech: The aforementioned bar rights the robot, even though it can run inverted.
Inspiration; This is probably the only robot I have where I have had no inspiration. It just came as a good name.
Strengths: Power, weaponary
Weaknessess: A little bulky, not as heavy as the body would suggest.

My stats are in the edited post...I assume it counts as a walker?
-
Mini-Tournament!
To be honest Joey, your robot is either a walker or a very low wheeled robot :proud:
-
Mini-Tournament!
Its designed to win fights because the opponent can do sod all to it :proud: and I came up with the idea before Andy did, honest...
-
Mini-Tournament!
You do realize that aggression counts in the judges decision too? :proud:
-
Mini-Tournament!
Its incredibly aggressive - it always goes on the attack against any sort of weapon, albeit at a speed of less than one centimetre a second
-
Mini-Tournament!
Thats not complete aggression to the whole of the opponent though.
Will be fun going up against this machine. :)

Mini-Tournament!
Minesweeper
Weight: 100kg
Shape: Tornado (S6)
Colour: Silver, with MINESWEEPER written on the sides.
Dimensions: 90cm x 85cm x 25cm
Drive: 4x Bosch 750 motors, powered by 5x 36V NiCad Battlepacks.
Locomotion: 4 Titanium/Vanadium alloy wheels with Vulkanized rubber tyres.

Speed: 16mph
Ground Clearance: 0mm at front and back due to scoops, and 5mm at the sides.
Turning Circle: 0m
Weapon: 2 snowplow-like scoops at front and back that can move slightly vertically, so I can have good pushing power, plus 0mm ground clearance at front and back without being stranded.
Srimech: Invertible

Mini-Tournament!
Will give this a whirl with Dr Acula :)
Robot Name: Dr. Acula
Shape: T-shaped robot with all the components (drive, batteries, weapon components) mounted in a long compartment at the back of the robot (i.e. the horizontal line of the T-shape) with two crushing claws connected together therefore moving as one sitting in the middle of the component pod and coming out at right angles to it.
Colour: The body is all black but the claws are white with red €˜blood€™ effects on the tips
Speed: 20mph max
Armour:4mm hardox for the front and back of the component pod with 8mm HDPE covering it. It has 6mm hardox protecting the wheels, which are located at either end of the pod. The claws are made out of 8mm hardox and have 12mm titanium tips while the wedge for the other robots to ride up to the claw is angled 4mm hardox.
Drive: A pair of 12V Bosch 400W motors running at 24V through a 10:1 chain drive reduction onto 254mm (standard 10€Â) go-kart wheels.
Power: 4 x 24V 3000mAh Nicad packs in parallel
Motivation: 254mm go-kart wheels, chain driven
Ground Clearance: 0mm at the front where the wedge of the claw touches the ground. 10mm everywhere else
Turning Circle: 0
Dimensions: 125cm x 80cm x 50cm
Weaponry: A pair of crushing claws that bite down, powered by two LA36 Linak linear actuator, both rated at 10000N (1 tonne).
Srimech: Can run inverted but claw becomes ineffective upside-down
Notes: Although this robot may not crush with as much devastation as the likes of Razer, it still has enough power to pierce and deform (more easily) forms of plastic armour such as polycarb or HDPE top panels. 1 tonne of force is also plenty to grip with allowing Dr. Acula to take his victims wherever in the arena he pleases

2) Namies Style v The End v Mega Masher 2 v The Alexandra Sisters

Mini-Tournament!
Strawberry...
Dr. Acula vs. Symmetry vs. Nitro-Gene vs. Minesweeper:
Ill actually go for Nitro-Gene and (ba-dum-ching) Minesweeper to go through, despite Mark being an arse. Dr. Acula lacks weaponry power compared to the others, and out of the remaining three I cant really see anyone gaining an advantage, so Symmetrys batteries could let it down. Then again...
Namies Style vs. THE END vs. Mega Masher 2 vs. The Alexandra Sisters:
Im going to go for the pit release...*voice reminds him seasons will pass in the time it would take The End to get to the pit release switch*...uh, Ill try and get underneath Mega Masher...*voice reminds him that the only way that will happen is if Chris feels like committing suicide in a particuarly ineffective way*...uh, Ill get Cassandra Alexandra pinned against the wall...*voice slaps Joey round the head*...
Ill keep The End lowered to the ground with all those nasty flippers in there, and...theres not really all that much I can do. Just endure, and rest in the knowledge that their batteries will die before I run out of petrol, and they cant damage me. :proud:
Good luck people :)

Mini-Tournament!
Eliminator Draw
Dr. Acula v Symmetry v Nitro-Gene 4.0 v Minesweeper
I think I can see Minesweeper out...hard to pick out of the other three though. Possibly Nitro-Gene out too.
Namies Style v The End v Mega Masher 2 v The Alexandra Sisters
Since The End is hardly capable of doing squat all, Ill ignore for the time being. :proud: I propose a team-up with Chezza on Chris. I dont like that disc much and Id hate to face it later on, so lets take it out now.
Tactics: Send Soph in first and try to tackle the sides of Mega Masher and see if she can flip it. Then send Cass in and try to get the bugger down the pit, hopefully Namies Style will help with that too. Flip Mega Masher a few times if its being a pest; doesnt matter if its bulky, its gonna get flipped. :proud:
Good luck everybody. :)
-
Mini-Tournament!
...which, ironically, is my favourite jam flavour as well. In fact, its the only one I like.
MEGA MASHERS TACTICS
Im not really fussed over whom I go for. Ill probably use the wedge first on NS or TE, but use the disc on TAS.
-
Mini-Tournament!
Namies Style v The End v Mega Masher 2 v The Alexandra Sisters:
Yeah, Ill accept the team-up with Kody. :P Best to do that methinks. :P
As for my tactics, well... I think Namies Style should go for Mega Masher and attack the disk to help prevent attacking either Namie & The Alexandra sisters.
Oh yes... my favourite flavour jam is raspberry. Nice of you to ask that. :P
-
Mini-Tournament!
Ah yes, and my favourite flavour of jam is apricot.
-
Mini-Tournament!
Dr. Acula v Symmetry v Nitro-Gene 4.0 v Minesweeper: I have 2 main targets in this battle - Minesweeper and Symmetry. If Jamie wishes to help me take on either, Im ope to it. Minesweeper may be the best out of Marks squad, but on the sides there are no skirts, and so I get to attack head-on or side-on, due to my pushing-power, traction, speed and ultra-low flipper to toss it out. With Symmetry, my front is designed to deflect spinner hits, and given that the shock-proofing in Nitro is designed to cope with massive spinners that are around the 200kj mark, so Ill be OK with the spinning discs on Symmetry. Ram the front and draw him onto the wedge, then slam him around the ring, and flip him when near enough to the edge. If Dr. Acula attacks me, give him some air time to let him know not to mess with me.
Good luck Mark, Leo and Jamie
Namies Style v The End v Mega Masher 2 v The Alexandra Sisters: In this battle, I believe that Kody and Chezza will win easily, as Mega Masher wont rival them at all, and The End wont even get going :proud:
Im looking forward to this greatly. I hope this lives up to expectations Liam - mind you, it proberbly will exceed expectations :)
-
Mini-Tournament!
-
Mini-Tournament!
My plan is, Ironically, to ask to team up with Paul. Possibly wait for Symmetry to die from battery power loss, and attack Dr. Acula and shove it into the pit.
Please, Paul? I greatly respect your robot, and, considering I have acted like an arse, I will not be suprised if you do not team up with me.
If not, get to Nitro-Genes side, and slam it into the pit.
-
Mini-Tournament!
Im going to team-up with Mark, but on ONE condition - if he posts any stupid, idiotic messages like reminders, or notes that are just plain stupid before that fight, I will make OOTAing him my top priority, and taking out Symmetry my second.
-
Mini-Tournament!
-
Mini-Tournament!
Raspberry for me.
Tactics: Leo and I have competed against each other before in the real arena in the featherweight Eurochamps last year with our raptors. Id like to avoid the same outcome as last time therefore if Leo wishes to team up with me at the start, Id gladly welcome it :)
Assuming Im currently safe from Symmetry, Ill go first for Minesweeper - it has skirts and ploughs but arena floors are never even so those skirts are gonna be vulnerable to rising up over bumps. Ill probe about and try to find an opening, while setting the claw to just the right height. Hopefully I can get in, bite down, and drag Minesweeper (via the pit release button) to the pit and put it out of the fight. If Nitro-Gene is still kicking about, Ill aim to then take it out, somehow :)
That would just leave Symmetry - teaming-up forgotten, Id try to get a grip somewhere on the rear part of the monocoque and then hopefully drag it into the pit too
-
Mini-Tournament!
It is two people going through, you realise :proud:
-
Mini-Tournament!
Whoops, my bad!
Ok, in that case Ill leave Symmetry alone for one of the winners of the other battle to face in the next round :)
