were going
lol i wish
anyone wonna sponsor us? ill make sure we win both feather and heavy and u can have winnings
you plan to win the feathers with 360 in with you:lol:
who says im taking a flipper ?
A fantastic event. If you can afford it then go, if not then find a way to get the cash and go :)
Do you have a pit in your arena David?
The arena they had last year had a steel floor and no pit. But I believe they have a new arena this year.
This is a great event - go if you can.
Will have to roll up a lot of dough if I am able to go. Would like to see a live robotic combat event for once. :lame:
Does anyone know yet if theres a pit in the arena? Im having serious thoughts about going this year, but no point for me if theres no pit.
There wont be a pit. Had a chat with - rrr someone from RoboGames - and they dont beleive in arena hazards at all - so no pit.
Mr Stu
Wheres the fun in that? Then theres no point in bringing my robot. Unless it could be shipped together with someone elses robot.
You can have LOTS of fun without a pit.
I promise.
ye
you can run away from the spinners
thats fun :P
GAWD! You guys are like, so, you know, waffley!
Its not like every friggin robot over here is, like, a spinner. Its like, maybe, you know, 20% or so. The other EIGHTY PERCENT - hello! - are spinner free. You just might have to actually charge your batteries and go for a full threee minutes...
;-)
Or get flipped though the roof
think they have abit where you can flip them into on the side?
id love to go
hopefully next yr - what is the actual price? we have never priced up but for 2 ppl 1 aged 16 and the other 47 the old man
cant go this yr tho as my dad will be very busy at work for next 3 months :D £££££££££ ching
hopefully it comes bk on TV soon so i can build the new beast! prob will anyway lol
Well yeah but no but yeah but no but yeah but TAN needs a pit ACTUALLY to put those like nasty spinners in else it cant win you dig?
What TAN needs is a big hammer so it can bash a hole in the floor to put robots in.
take thz and thor and they can do that
little hitter and basher can go and help aswel
I agree with Leo. Against a spinner or any other robot i will need a pit to have my advantage. Its what the whole robot is designed for.
I would like to come over to the event, but i dont see that very small change yet to actually win a fight.
If anybody else would be interested in going there, we could concider splitting the cost with trying to send it in only one cradle. Maybe its a little bit cheaper. i dont know yet.
Isnt there anybody else interested in going there?
ye
just costs 2 much :P
Id love to, just the cost of getting the robot over there.
You could build a smaller robot. I was there last year and had a 1 pound (American antweight) and a couple of 3 lb robots. I had a 12 pound one as well but those wont be running this year. I guess that a feather would go in hold luggage at no extra cost - its worth checking with the airline you are cobnsidering using.
i wudnt go without the heavy tho as id say thats the main class and wouldnt spend 1000s gettin there n that n not take it
Well i dont want to ship my own robot becasue theres no pit in the arena. Therefor it might have been interesting to split costs with shipping 2 robots in 1 box
But i am thinking about going there to have a look, and maybe borow someones featherweight as bagage.
u can take beauty if we can get it to u somehow
shouldnt be a problem
might need some good armor for there tho lol will have to see how much weight we have
How much is it to ship a 100kg bot and spares? (just out of interest)
Hi Suren,
Between £400 and £700 are the sort of figures Ive heard for a heavy.
However, we always used to take the robots apart and pack them into bags and check them in - youre allowed two 32kg cases each. So needs at least three people per teams to carry a heavy and tools etc. Five brit teams did that to one of the events.
Might be a bit more tricky getting through airport check-in these days...

John were those prices return or one way? A quick look over the net is from £700 for flights and hotel for about a weeks stay, plus the shipping of the robot.
Jeroen,
Even though there isnt a pit, there is a dead zone around the edges of the arena. If you can lift/flip the other robot over the railing its an automatic win.
I hope you can make it to RG - it would be great to see TAN again!
is RG joining forces with battle bots, or are they seperate ?
Do they affect each other?
Just curious
John
2 seperate things
i think its like robot wars coming back and having there dates so close to the uk champs so i cant see them being happy
i think anyway from what iv seen on rfl forum
R.G. and Battlebots ... Have .. as far as I know ... nothing to do with each other.
The dates do seem to conflict ... I suspect that R.G. will suffer if the Battlebots thing happens.
well i hope that the robot world over there dont turn their back on RG !!!
JOhn
That point was made by one poster on the RFL Forum.
But I suspect that he may get reduced big bot attendance with the return of lights cameras ...ACTIVATE!.
id say RG has more media coverage then battlebots at the moment - i remember them being on BBC last year and i guess they might be this year aswel
with battlebot pros not on tv atm aswel could help RG but sounds like BB have more contacts , think all the good bots will be at both
hope i can go lol
Hi Wendy, it is good to hear from you again. Unfortunatly TAN cant lift or flip anything. All it can do is try to grab the other one and hold on to it. So this is the point where you say i need to build a new robot. :) But instead of now spending the money on shipping my robot, i want to make it a 2 week holiday, to watch the event. To prepare myself for next year. :)
Btw, where would that BB event be?
We would like to film this competition in the San Francisco Bay Area as soon a June 2008
says this on http://www.battlebots.com/news_home.asp#espnhttp://www.battlebots.com/news_home.asp#espn
is that where RG is?
