12/13th July 2008 Roaming Robots Royal International Air Tattoo

Once again we have been invited back to the 2008 Royal International Air Tattoo for another weekend of robots and planes. Fingers crossed once again with the weather as this is our second of two outdoor events for 2008 !!

This event will feature our main Robot Wars show plus the increasingly popular pay to drive robots. This will be their last event before they head off once again on the Haven Holiday Park Tour around the UK.

Beast is our current Heavy Weight RIAT champion and 2008 will see the event returning to competition format, will he be lucky once again???

my fave event of 2007 and will be for 2008. will be arriving on the friday with envy and thor. jason and i will then drink ourselves stupid and do the saturday event well hungover. earplugs on standby mr lear :) looking forward to this one

So it has now been decided that this event will play host to the 2008 heavy weight UK championships.

More info to follow once all the paperwork has been finalised with RIAT itself.

how bigs the pit tent gonna b ? bigger then last yr?

these are things we are sorting out, whether to go for a bigger pit marquee, or just put everything under one big one like the frst year we were there!!! AT least we are all dry :)

ye do the big 1 - we can make it more into a show then with lights etc?

i dont think we will have good weather this year either - its been 2 good last few yrs

well we better have good weather cos i am looking forward to it and me and jason are planning to get wasted. if it rains we could put our people carriers side by side and take out all the seats and open the doors and have a disco. that or just go to the disco :) or just play some tunes in john bells tent with a flashing torch.

Just a small Update.


The Paperwork has now all been finalised with RIAT and so over the next few weeks we will be announcing lots more info including the seeds, competition format, and getting the sign ups online.

1.Big Nipper
2.Iron Awe 5 - moved up 1 place from uk champs results due to winning winter tour - could be number one but big nipper is the champ
3.THZ - should be number one as axes rule but big nipper is the best and iron awe doing 2 well
4.Dantomkia
5.Kapow cant really move 4-7 about but beast should be abit higher but kapow flipped us out
6.Beast
7.Turbulence - turb could of been abit higher but change of robot means 2006 dont count :sad:
8.Envy - winning last 2 RR events hes moved up a few - shouldnt really count on normal events but envy can be up a few
9.Tiberious
10.Kanopener - i feel sorry for kan opener being so low but cant see anywhere to put it without making people upset
11.Velocirippa
12.Ripper - after driving down the pit you have been swapped with envy


how many robots taking part?

if theres 24 then i say pod with 4 teams each and

seed 1 goes with seed 12
seed 2 with seed 11
seed 3 with seed 10
seed 4 with seed 9
seed 5 with seed 8
seed 6 with seed 7

and then the rest drawn out of the hat

so that means from my seeding it would look like this

big nipper and ripper
iron awe and velocirippa
thz and kan opener
dantomkia and tiberious
kapow and envy
beast and turbulence

might need to move kan opener up got a tough one there

can pay me at the next event for doing the hard work of the seeding - will do the feathers next for robo challenge but there that many its hard to do lol beauty 1st tho ye? LF and my fellow flipper friends up there aswel

You made a mistake - Kapow has gone in twice - you should then technically be against Turbulence - sorry, but its my field as an audience member to make sure something is right - like (say) the line-up :wink:

should have put envy at seed 10 so it was against THZ after the comment he made in team loser thread :blush:

iv gotta drive up to turb get under him try get him over the the arena wall and flip him out

dont know if we can get under him so i might have to just drive about running away open the pit and he might do a jonno and drive in it :)

envy both of us will either get knocked out in the 1st round or we will be in the final and if we dont get to each other in the competition we shall have a fight :angry:

Have to ask, how did you come to have DTK at 4? Other than that I actually agree with your order LJ.

Jeroen, anytime. Turb is getting back into its stride again only losing to Iron Awe at Leicester the other week. Got some bits to do in the coming weeks to make it a bit lighter so we can have the second bottle.
